I never understood why they don’t insulate the tanks., especially the ones in the engine bay. Pretty much make it like a yeti cooler. Even though from it circulating it’s going to warm up but if the the tank was insulated it would stay cold and iced waaay longer

Lovin' LMR vids. I got your 2650 Maggie 1k upgrade last September. I'm not hard on the car but it gets hot where I live in the summer. Should I do the titanium air box? Would that help significantly?

how many times do you think you could put ice in it before the coolant gets too watered down?
You're not supposed to add ice to coolant. Surprised he wasn't clear on that in this video. 99% of people drain the coolant from their ice tanks and replace it with water (preferably distilled). At the dragstrip, you drain water/add ice as necessary. Generally speaking, 1-2 bags of ice are completely melted within 1 pass/a few minutes

Awesome video!!! What are your thought on adding a little Water Wetter when adding the ice to the tank?
Not recommended when running ice. A good idea if you're just running straight water (preferably distilled)

My 2019 ZO6 M7, never went into limp mode during track sessions, (Harris Hills Raceway), but I know the cooler the better, so would this help track sessions. What thermostat do you run, especially in Texas.
You want a heat exchanger and the tank … trust me it’s a night and day difference but yes it helps …
This wouldn't help you at all. Ice tanks are good for the dragstrip because they can generally prevent your ECM from pulling timing if managed properly between passes. They're worthless for the track. A couple bags of ice will keep temps down through 1 dragstrip pass (if you don't spend long in the staging lanes). In other words, the ice you added before your session would be gone by the time you're hitting your second turn and your temps would mirror what they'd be with just coolant or straight water in the tank for 99.9% of your track session
@@DMartinRott my set up kept my IATS in check even after 3 passes if the owner knows what’ there doing cooling is simple data don’t lie … but hey I can only speak for myself … did wonders on both my GT500s ice box increases volume it’s just that simple it’s not always about ice … a heat exchanger with a ice box will keep tempt low …
@@mach183 of course there many factors. Running at a T&T vs a rental where there's no line, type of blower, size of heat exchanger, engine size, headers, etc. Generally speaking though, loading a tank with ice lasts most of us 1 full pass, sometimes 2. That's a worthless amount of time for a track session
