Thank you - I would really like to try a Pro again sometime. I never really got on with the parallax for close shots with wide lenses and with tele lenses the bit of the viewfinder was always quite small. But I should definitely try again with it sometime.
I had the Pro2 for a while and loved it. You're right - the big benefit of the 3 would be the autofocus, but personally I think the hidden screen would drive me crazy 🙂
I spent 2 years shooting weddings with the Nikon Z system. I finally let go of it this past month to fully use the Fuji system for weddings . Best decision ever !
Really great images Chris, and interesting perspective on things. Your couples will be delighted with these images, I’m sure! I’ve very recently sold all my Nikon FF DSLR kit, and invested in an extra body, lenses etc for my Fujifilm kit... Similarly I wanted to simplify my kit bag, and above all else I just find myself enjoying the fujifilm system more! Best wishes.
Thank you Grant. It's interesting that you've had similar thoughts recently too. Do you photograph weddings? If it wasn't for the long wedding days and the wide variety of situations you find yourself photographing at weddings, I really wouldn't own a full frame DSLR.
@@ChrisBoland I do (or rather, did do…) events, commercial and family photography as a side hustle mostly… although I do aspire to get into weddings. My Nikon gear is what got me into photography, so I’ll always have a soft spot for it… But over the last couple of years I found myself only really picking up my DSLR kit for the occasional paid work - so figured I would just simplify, and use the Fujifilm kit for everything, now I have multiple bodies and equivalent focal lengths covered… Got my first “post” lockdown shoot in a few weeks so I’ll be using the Fuji’s exclusively for that… 🤞
Really enjoy your videos Chris, you have a lovely style and your images are wonderful. I've picked up a few occasions now where you mention the idea of shooting Fuji full time for your wedding work. I've gone through a similar process as I've shot weddings on Canon for over 12 years and often brought my X100s along to shoot a few frames. I fully invested in Fuji and sold all my Canon gear in one go, so no turning back. Shot my first all fuji wedding last weekend! I use an X Pro3 and XT3 and honestly, I think I'll invest in another XPro3 and shoot with that pairing. I have the top function button set to playback so I can review an image on the fly without even taking my eye from the viewfinder. The whole process takes a fraction it would take to chimp on a rear LCD and has been so liberating to not chimp at all since you know what you're getting before you take the shot with the EVF being so good! XPro 3 all the way! Good luck :-)
Thank you Phil. I have been thinking about this for sometime! :-) I actually bought the Nikon Z6ii and have been learning it and overcoming a few bumps with it. On Friday I shot a wedding with that - but tomorrow, Saturday I'm going to take my Fuji to a wedding and I'm really looking forward to it. I've shot a couple of all Fuji ones earlier in the year and I guess I'm just testing how I feel. But my heart is leaning towards the Fuji!
Thanks for the video. Lovely pictures too. I shot 4 weddings this summer with an xt-2 with 35mm f1.4 and Sony A7 III with Tamron 28-75 2.8. As much as I love the reliability and versatility of the Sony, I don't enjoy shooting with it as much as I do with the Fuji. I am in a bit of dilemma for next year as I want to use same brand on the two cameras I carry for the consistency of the end results but on can't decide between A7 III and XT-4. Can't have my cake and eat it too, I know.
Thank you. I'm thinking about the same things right now. I've just bought the Nikon Z6ii, but I do love using the Fuji. The Sony A7 IV could be interesting too 🙂
I just had my 100V, A7iii + 3 primes stolen from car….I’ve graduated from the V, and think the T30ii is my next step, but not sure which lens to get. I keep hearing/seeing so much about the magic of the 35mm 1.4! Is this combo a strong one Chris? Always love your videos!
Hi Frank, I'm really sorry to hear that, that's terrible. I've actually never used the T30 or ii. However, I love the XT4 and the XE4. One of the smaller cameras plus the 35 1.4 is a super combination. It's one of the smallest combinations for fantastic portraits. I feel I can take the XE4 out with the 35 and it still feels suitable in a social situation. I hope you get your kit replaced soon.
@@ChrisBoland thanks Chris. I can’t buy the T4 since I most likely will buy the A7IV for my sports photography. I definitely want the Fuji for my everyday carry around and more filmic looks I miss the V and that it didn’t bring attention so I “think” T30ii is the next step…hard to decide!
@@ChrisBoland Yeah it's just me I think I love the X100f form factor that rangefinder like form. But miss not being able to change lenses. Cant afford an Xpro yet.
How about adding an X-Pro3 to you bag to complement the XT4? That will give you the optical viewfinder you desire, while still offering the benefits of the Fuji vs the Nikon DSLRs?
Thanks for the suggestion Craig. Perhaps with a wide lens the Pro would perfect. I was a little disappointed by the hidden screen on the Pro3, I don't think that's for me. But the optical viewfinder could be really nice - even though it's not through the lens like an SLR.
The thing is despite popularity of fuji and sony cameras, vast majority of professionals still use Nikon and Canon, when your camera is what feeds your kids, No one still beat the reliability and toughness of Nikon or Canon gear.
@@ChrisBoland I’m so sorry I called you Andy! This is beautiful. I’m considering the XT4 as a new camera. I currently have a XT3 . And an X100V. I would love to hear your thoughts on the XT3 versus XT4 as well as the rangefinder style vs XT style. Is the XT4 much heavier that the XT3? For background, I shoot professionally as a portrait photographer.
Love the pictures as always. But if you "just" need the Nikon for the OVF, why dont you shoot with an X-PRO Fuji?

Thanks so much Natalia :-)
Glad to see things are returning to normal ( even if slowly) over there. Another great vid with lovely images. Cheers from Australia.
Thank you. It's been encouraging seeing you guys enjoying yourselves. It's been a glimpse of things hopefully to come for us 🙂
Glad to see you are back doing weddings, Chris. You simply can't go wrong with that 35!
Thank you José - I agree, it's a really wonderful lens.
The best lens I ever had
It's definitely one of my favourites too..
It's great that you can shoot weddings again now Chris! You must be even more excited for coming warmer months.
Absolutely, it's been wonderful - and there's a busy summer ahead, which is great. Hope things are looking up where you are.
Amazing shots as usual! 👏
Thank you very much Robert :-)
I will get my brand new X-T4 next week, the Fujinon 35mm f1.4 waiting to be used with it!
It's a fantastic combination, you'll love it 🙂
The fuji 35mm 1.4 has become my favourite lens
It's fantastic isn't it.
@@ChrisBoland absolutely, i got it just in august last year but it has become my every day lens replacing my standard zoom.
Great images!

That's my current portrait/wedding setup! My wife is currently shooting Canon R. But how I do love the Fuji system!

35mm f1.4 vs 23mm 1.4? which is your pick?
I'm using the 35 right now. But I like both. It would just depend on your favourite focal length.
Chris, have you shot with the 33mm? I LOVE my 35 1.4, but unsure if it is worth upgrading to the 33.
I've never used that, but would like to. I think the main difference would be the faster focus.

It's a nice lens with a lot of character but I'd never call it quiet. It's the loudest lens I own and instantly attracts attention when focusing.
I felt that way with the older cameras, but to me it feels very different with the XE4 and XT4.
I really want this lens, I only have the 23mmf2
Even though the field of view is quite close to the 23mm it's a really different lens - if you can you should definitely try it.
A quiet small camera with an optical viewfinder with world class image quality.. what you want is a leica my friend.
That's a very good point. For weddings though I do like to have autofocus.
