you know, i just played a few rounds and had this thought "man, raiden is like a scorpion, but it can attack air LMAO" and it made me so happy you just said that and i was right
that is valid only when both are out of range, and marks will lock on air farther. But when your crawlers are in range of marksman, earning time for your frontline and raidens to close the gap, marks will only lock on whatever nearer.
I think chain is better just because it means they get stuck on chaff less, it's literally doubling the chaff clear and then making them do a bit more overall dps on top
@@CieloIdeIverano The main discussion was about Chain being better then Fork. Fork is only good when you got more then 3 targets in range and that doesn't happen all the time, but Chain almost always works. Range is always good, but Chain can be a better first choice if the extra range isn't required. The main problem is that Range doesn't really help with hitting more targets as much as it could as the Raiden will just stop when in range of 1 target and ignore that it could hit more if moving a bit forward.
Yeah, I swear until they adjust the raiden every game I've played since yesterday is exactly the same. Sledges/arcs frontline with some chaff and a few raidens behind and it just becomes whose raiden hits first. First time in the game's existence I've not wanted to play due to a unit.
There is many other way to counter , so far the best is Chaff obviously, but with range melter and hacker right behind.. and the hacker tech that brings stolen units to full HP for a nice slept on bonus. Melter and hacker both way out range these things, especially with range of their own. Plus u are chewing through balls and sledge in the beginning. Give it a shot... there are more combos as well. That's the fun of this game, figuring stuff out. You will feel way more rewarded once you find ur build that starts shutting them down. Vs just playing the standard meta.
I destroyed two raiden players yesterday. Continuous waves of chaff plus ranged dps will just shut down raiden so hard early on. You don't want late games when your opponent could further go range and chain and fork and levels and on those raiden combined with vulcan. With no tech or one tech, raiden is pretty bad. Worse than overlords
You have to keep in mind that it's like this every time a new unit gets added, everyone wants to try it, figure out how to use it, figure out how to counter it etc,
@@simontollin2004 oh I’m aware, and just like every time it’s been annoying. In testing they had virtually everyone telling them to slightly tune a couple things on it and they didn’t, so they must know better.
Yeah they're gonna need to lower Raiden hitpoints, and probably damage too. And slow down the attack animation so it can't shoot before shields land and stuff...
I wonder if damage sharing+repair sledgies would be an effective tank against these monsters. Would have to have photon so they don't get emp'd. Honestly, I'm not thrilled to even try playing against this thing. Think I'll wait until the patch comes out.
I think that would depend on if they go Ionization, Fork or Chain. Ion would wipe the floor with linked sledges, fork would have a lot of damage... but chain wouldn't work so well against them.
@@Sorain1 Just tested it to make sure in the proving grounds. Ionization does nothing to the sledges since they only go off of the target's HP. Since sledges have relatively low individual HP levels, the ionization actually cuts the damage significantly. There is an interesting effect though where Ionization cuts through the damage sharing effect due to the 40% current hp effect. This resulted in bringing the hit tanks down to low hp over time, but never finishing them off. I'd say Ionization is not worth it in this situation because you'd have to rely on other units to do the finishing blow and if you're going to do that then you might as well use EMP. There is a chance to be effective if you have Ionization in addition to chain and fork, but by the time you spend that much on techs for a raiden that the number of sledgies will be too overwhelming for it to deal with and they'll likely have levels on them as well. Plus you'd be hurting your capabilities to killing them with a melting point since you'd be lowering the hp of their front line units, making them more likely to die early rather than letting the damage ramp up. In my testing, damage sharing (plus heal) is very effective against both ionized and non-ionized raiden.
hey, we played yesterday afternoon, im "Snottybunch". i had the ranged HE spiders, that one useless barrier fort by my right tower, way too many ranged fangs, abandoned and upgraded my left tower, etc. you had wasps moving from side to side early game and tried a rhino flank on my right side. then you sold out of everything and ended up with stangs and ranged suck melters, and i didnt have dps in place to kill the melters. idk if youll remember the game, but if so, i wonder if you had any points where you were saying "if he goes _____, i will lose so hard here". I feel like my best idea near the end was to sell the fort, go ranged melters to counter your ranged suck melters. or melters with emp. or give emp to my farseers. i completely forgot about emp at the time lol.... anyway GG
Look what they did to my poor Overlord! They replaced him with saucy Jack, who seems to do the same job better. Oh now Overlord is a super unit? All it does now is cost more for an extra 5k HP. It does the same dmg per shot as the Raiden lol. I guess you can take 2 extra Marksman shots. Oh yeah Overlord Artillery used to be 11k dmg at lvl 1 in October. It's like they are pissing on us and calling it rain.
After the last patch the new ray units could completely dominate the game. Now the new Raiden makes rays totaly garbage. Raiden is just so op in many ways that makes many units obsolete. I think this lightning attack could have been fun, but for a medium and not a giant unit. You know there is a problem with the developement, if the new units are dominating everything, and the older units are going to garbage.
Not to mention that sabers where drop units (you got 1 saber on round 3), now starting units (you got 2 on round 1) with bigger damage output, and for the half price as a scorpion. Saber plus training specialist starter makes the most ground mediums and all giants garbage. You dont even have weapons against them, only air (or crawlers that can be countered the next turn).
@Aventurine-v2q Fair enough. I'll place the boat further back next time. It was my first time trying it vs raiden. The boat was behind chaff and tarantula. They had triple -tech (chain and 5 zap) and hit the boat right away.
@@landdeath i think the raiden is just far too low on players radars. Like its seen as "the new cool unit" instead of a giant. I usually get a few out with range before any counterplay starts. Probably helped by their damage being shown as much lower than it is. Having chaff as an "isolator" i.e. 60m away from your front might have helped i guess
This unit has ruined the game for me. Needs to be severely nerfed before doing anymore ranked matches. Literally an I win button if you make this unit first.

Stopped playing until they balance things. Range on that thing is ridiculous,,,glad they made aerial specialist useable now.
You need a 30m gap between the Raiden and the front line so AA Marks won't target the Raiden.
that is valid only when both are out of range, and marks will lock on air farther. But when your crawlers are in range of marksman, earning time for your frontline and raidens to close the gap, marks will only lock on whatever nearer.

5:00 selling sledges to place sledges in the same spot, next level gaming

From my early impressions, the best counter seams to be ether fort/mustang or marksmen line/mustang

scorpion with wings
shouldve named it manticore
I stopped an opponent that spammed Raiden by just using Phoenix with range and the other tech that scales with level.
i adore these things, i hope they dont completely murder them
You want your Raiden to be out of sync when shooting so they don't shoot the same chaff. So stagger them by one square.
1:13:43 why do some mustangs have AA above their heads and some dont?
visual bug
hmm, does the farseer extra range affect the raiden bounces?
farseer only buffs ground units

The nerf has come, did not take long :'(
16 minutes ago. Based.
you know what is ridiculously op ? mustang aa vs overlords
Why?
So you like chain over fork?
ye chain always
Im thinking any card like fortified sledge that shortens the front lines range would be great for this comp.
Id much rather have a Ball/melter beam on new boat then this imba chain lighting
Didnt realise until game 2 that the arclight noise was changed wtf haha i hate it
The new sound effects are fucking atrocious.
This game is unplayable until they change them.
Yea they seemed to bother a lot of players. I think there has been some weird sounds on multiple patches
the arclight shooting sounds urgggh

I'm fine with everything but the Arclight. It shoots an energy beam, what exactly is exploding in there?
