I've one; when changing filter, take outside the lid to remove the black screen and clean it from its dust; but it's tricky to put it back on the same openings to avoid damaging it. Honnestly, I don't know if the product is good; the dust that comes out on top indicates that particles are still released. Better than nothing, I guess. The manual says that the ionizer is dangerous for small pets like birds; I then see the same for other pets. CbcNews tested other products and it was mentionned that "ion generators" "plasma air cleaners" "photocatalytic oxidation" can emit ozone and then are potential respiratory hazard. I just saw the video before finding yours. The techguy recommends to buy a simple square fan and a large square air filter, to tape one on the other, to get better results than what the market offers for homes.
The black screens are actually carbon "pre-filters". They are placed in front of the actual filter. They help reduce odors and smoke smells. The carbon absorbs some of the odors. I don't install them usually as we don't have odors, but I probably should just because I have them! So to be clear, install the filter, then the pre-filter, then reinstall the housing of the purifier.
this is what I was looking for.. what to do with the black lining on the inside of the front. It looks like its cut to be there, but is it supposed to stay there? I don't see any way to replace it if it's needed later. But if its supposed to be removed, then that would be ideal

Its pretty reliable, just make sure to clean the foam prefilter. You can test if the ionizer is really on using a non contact voltage tester.
Mine came with 2 black screens for each filter. I have not found a word on where they go.

I think you should take off the black fabric on the lid u pulled off
I just did that to mine and now its working better 😁
@@breathedisastereverafter I think you'd see better results taking off the black pre filter
@@fulloffxthe “carbon filter” is likely just a marketing technique, the filter itself is whats important
How's it working for you still? Do you clean the filter with soap and water or you just buy another filter?
