Let me tell you something from what i have heard about her she's humble. But she like yes I'm humble but let me show you how it's done. This is the best performance i have ever heard in my life. No exaggeration and to me she had so much emotion in it. I wish i hear her one day 🇯🇲
Yes! Lisa is definitely one of the old school “whistle girls.” The originals are Minnie Riperton and Betty Wright. Go back and check them out also! 👍🏽🎶✨💫💝
I'm SOOOO glad someone else feels the EXACT same as I do about her lol. This was and still is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love her and actually seeing her tomorrow. From what I've seen she's just as beautiful on the inside as the outside. What a great vocalist!!
Your joyful, enthusiastic reaction to the great Lisa Fisher along with your infectious laughter made this video a pleasure to watch! 'How can I ease the pain", in my opinion, is one of the greatest songs written and recorded during that era, and "brilliantly" sung by one of the best female vocal artists on the planet!!!!
The great Ms Lisa Fisher one greatest vocalist and sang background for many great performers but she didn't want the stardom but her Luther and the crew put on live performances that can't be top. Great review 😃
OMG, you are a trip! love it! Lisa is amazing, still singing too, shes definitely more a soul and earth mother now, if I was a singer, I'd let her tuck me under wings.....shes mentoring some younger ones I think....shes da bomb.
No freakin' way!!! Do U know that I bought her CD "So Intense" Just 4 this song ONLY!)... Then I played it 2 death bcuz I thought she had such great vocals comparing it 2 other female R&B singers then. She did not get the radio time she so deserved back in the day. Easy on the eyes too (watch her official music video on this song). UR right LL, This almost gave me an instant family with an old flame... Thank U much LL 4 this OG slow jam!... I LOVE HER!!!!!!!!!!
This was and still is a great hit. I agree with you on the whistle note BUT Minnie Riperton in the 70s before them. " Loving You Is Easy Cause You're Beautiful " the Bird R.I.P. Mrs. Minnie. Love you both 💓
Actually it was Minnie Riperton who first introduced the "whistle register" into popular music. It was Minnie's chart topping single "Loving You" that literally turned the pop music scene on it's ear. Lisa did Minnie and herself such a wonderful tribute in how to sing with clarity in the whistle register. Neither of them receive the proper respect so wholeheartedly deserved.
LL, you brighten my day! I've never heard Lisa Fisher, not even her name, until today. OMG. I love R&B when I hear it, but have never sought it out. I bet I have heard her but didn't know it. She's my age and did backing vocals for a number of groups, especially The Rolling Stones! I did find this bit of info you might like knowing, "Fischer currently leads her own band, Grand Baton, which interprets an array of hits in concert, from Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love to the Police's Message in a Bottle. Her set is also full of songs by Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones. Fischer was a backup singer for the Stones for 26 years. Mar 24, 2018". Dayum, Imma' going to love 'mash up week'! You take care and thank you for this channel 🙂
Thank you so much! I will check out her community...she has an official UA-cam Channel if you want to hear more of her music. She did back up vocals for Tina Turner and Luther Vandross as well!!
❤I absolutely love this song and I miss signing like this. Lisa Fisher is one of the best signers of all times. However, I would like to clarify that she is not the first to have high tones. Has anyone heard of Minnie Riperton? She sang in the 70s. She hit the high notes before Lisa and Mariah.
Just saw her in San Francisco last month(11/21). I have followed her career for years. Did you see her DVD 24 feet from stardom? Check it out. Features other singer that are also backup singers.
The Vocal "Beast" ..Hands down...Had she had the right writers that Whitney Houston and Celine Dion was giving.. She definitely would went down as the Greatest Female Artist ...ever..... period...no question about it....
That is when music had lyrics that meant something. I remember when she left the Rolling Stones. In this video, she almost looks like Whitney. You give excellent reactions
I've heard of her name and I think I remember the song, but vaguely. With a powerful voice like that she's definitely a certified diva in my 📚. I read Fischer won a Grammy for this song for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 1992. Interestingly, I also read that she attended Music And Arts High School in New York City, the very same school I graduated from. She attended the school starting in 1972 from my calculations, however her father left the family when she was 14 y.o. and her mother died when she was 17 y.o. (so sad 😢) Also, Fischer had to have heard of Minnie Riperton's 'Loving You' song released in 1974, which would place Fischer at 16 y.o. Now, Loving You was Riperton's signature song where she first sung in the whistle register. I think you know where I'm going with this, so DON'T u get mad at me 😂😂😂
@@ladyluckclubllc Thanks for not coming after me 🙂 Yes, this generation needs to know about her. Minnie was a phenomenal artist. Before Riperton she was so concerned about the welfare of her children who were very little, but her husband stepped in and raised them. There's a great documentary I saw on her life and career recently that's really good. RIP Queen 👑 of the "whistle note"
Girl, you are hilarious 😆. But, you are right. Where there’s a people shortage, bust on out with this song and solve your national population crisis - Facts!
Lisa Fischer isn't the OG of whistle notes, Lisa doesn't even use the whistle register, it's called Superhead voice. And don't try and be shady to Mariah while also being wrong at the same time..Yes Mariah was influenced by Minnie, she was also influenced by alot of background singers including lisa Fischer because that's how Mariah started out, as a background singer. Mariah doesn't need to copy or imitate anybody, she's original who writes original music.
Well, actually she chose to sing back up for Tina Turner, Luther Vandross & a few other great artists. Had she chosen to remain a solo artist, she would have rivaled Whitney Houston... easily. Her whistle tone and vocal range really gave her an edge... and she won a Grammy for that song. Yes... it sucks that she didn't want to remain solo.😭😭😭
Don’t play my girl Mariah Carey like that. Mariah won more awards for her music than Lisa Fischer. My girl ain’t gotta copy nobody. You just hating on Mariah.
I don't like her music but I certainly have no reason to hate her. If you enjoy Mariah, great. I don't...she doesn't pay my bills...and I have the right to my taste in music and opinion. I dont like Mariah Carey music. See?? The world still continues to revolve around the sun.

Minnie Riperton is the originator of the high notes as far as famous signers. However, Liisa Fisher is out of this world!!!
Agree! Still blow my mind. And I love her current flavor also.

Actually, it was Minnie Rippeton with the whistle key in the 1970s. Watch her in the Midnight Special version of Loving You.
You are so much fun to watch! Thank you!
The irony of joking about her song’s baby making capabilities, while she’s singing live in Japan…
One of my top 5
Lisa Fischer also sang backup for David Bowie with Luther Vandross.
