Bieksa has the best stories to tell, not even that but the way he tells it is hilarious. Even after he left the Nucks, I still loved the guy and kept his jersey to this day.
Kevin is great honestly glad he’s on sports net and hockey night in Canada you will at least fine your laughing at something he says and brings a great attitude
It's funny that I used to despise guys like Kessler, Perry, and Bieksa (basically a third of the Ducks' lineup), but now, as he's moved to a commentator roles, consequently taking my Calgary Flames-tinted glasses off ... he's a hilarious and awesome fella!
Bieksa is one of a kind. Everything that happens on the ice should stay on the ice. unwritten rule, btw the ref knew it wasnt a big deal covering the mic let the chuckle explain, but the other ref just left cause his mic wasnt covered lol love when bieksa sums up the game, so much hockey IQ
Gentleman its nice that this conversation is taking place my name is Jamie Mayden Aldergrove bc I have been refereeing since 1974 I was thirteen i haven't skated since the 2016-2017 when we're on the ice we do not determine how many penalties will be called we call them after the fact of what players do we react if I did what that NHL referee did this past week over a mic. I would e suspended but Bieska I have been doing the C.A.N. PRO AM Canucks Autism Network tournament i have done most of your past teammates Sedins etc its been a blast .thanks
I think the ref did it in this case to protect both of them. I've heard Simmonds on 24/7 and he can have some not so nice things to say. I think the ref either made a bad called a missed one and knew he was going to hear it from Simmonds. So he covered his mic. You hear it all the time with guys in warm ups. player skates over to some one and you can hear the player asked " you are mic'd right" and they skate away. It doesnt mean the conversation was about to be about hating gay's or who they voted for, but what gets said should remain between who said it. We have the press conference if we want to dig and speculate. Taking things out of context does nothing for anyone
Pat O’Neill comes from a great hockey family. His father owned the best hockey shop in Foul Bay, BC when I was a kid - nobody did a better job on skates than that family.
What respect should players and fans have for refs? They clearly follow a bias and fabricate calls to make the game "even". Not to mention you get fined if you say anything mean to them lmfao
I use the same tactic with the police. I'm always nice to them and polite, even if I'm getting a ticket. I just take responsibility - yes its true I was speeding a bit, wasn't paying attention - gotten out of most tickets with a warning. And its actually genuine too, I do think the part of the job where they have to give tickets is crappy and most poeple are rude to them.
The refs can't perform their jobs correctly now that the League is more worried about offending the gamblers and online betting sites than they are about real fans and the sport. It's pathetic what they did to Tim Peel. The League should just get back to negotiating the placement of corporate logos on players' face shields instead of trying to ruin the sport all at once.
@@mr.devil9577 no. If you want robotic refs that call everything, than you must want them to call soft stuff as well. It's so funny, "Refs should never call plays on their feelings" but but but can you stop calling soft stuff. A slash is a slash isn't it?
I understand letting some stuff go and not being a robot ref, but if you watch mcdavid play he literally, no exaggeration, gets mugged/interfered with/tripped/help/hooked every single shift. it HAS to be rigged in some way.
They don’t make up penalties. They let most things go but try to keep ref interference (calling penalties) even ish. Best example. Pens and preds. Ref blows whistle with a puck in the blue paint. Didn’t call a single penalty on the preds the whole game. And even gave the preds a 5 on 3 at one point. It’s one of the very few sports where refs try to remove themselves
When you're on the ice it feels like a complete invasion of privacy from cameras every angle, mics everywhere that can hear a pin drop. This is where u put on your professional act and discuss only work related things.. especially not your opinions like tim peele did
Bieksa is a great example of running ones mouth and eating crow shortly there after. Like his credibility is fairly weak on a good day. Like his slapshot and/or his punches...?
I think its important to consider the game in the game. Everyone who’s played really any team sport knows refs make small and big mistakes. They’re human. Refs let some go and call others to balance the game out. Its the same thing as a reputation call. Its much easier to leave this an the unspoken rulebook rather than make every referee a robot and call every little thing. Imagine every crosscheck, every slash, every shove was called. The fault comes on the ref actually saying it and the broadcast playing it.
@@jaikohaal "balancing out the game" is exactly which leads to make-up calls, which break the game down to the point where penalties are fabricated. Call the game as it is, don't be bias and then decide to fix your mistake later

As a Canucks fan, I need Bieksa behind our bench next season.

He belongs on TV for stuff like this.
Why so you can they can loose another cup to a team of 4th liners or so you can burn the city to the ground when they do?
