Trying to go FAST on a FAT (387kg) Harley Road Glide [RAW Onboard]

- Of course this is not how this big Harley-Davidson Road Glide was meant to be moved. But me trying to go a bit faster once again proved that modern motorcycles which are hard to ride simply don't exist any longer. So even this chonky Harley is so well balanced and performant enough to take this kind of treatment with ease. It actually doesn't take any special skills to ride it in this manner!

The heavy throttle blipping on such a hard throttle is definitely something to appreciate 👌🏻👌🏻💯💯
thanks man
I would put on some Creedance Clearwater and do Route 66 on this. Even though its not my style, I understand why people love it!
mornadu - Hahaha. Back in the day CCR was the shit. I was the only one who had a cassette deck on my stereo and must have made about a hundred tapes of CCR for my friends. 🍻
I did just that minus the Route 66 part! I LOVE CCR. And I really love cruising slowly with my favourite tunes in the speaker. I never thought I would love that. But I definitely do
Spice is better for this bike style..
@mornadu my man!
Hope your feeling better mate and that 2021 brings peace and happiness.
thanks a lot Phillip! Best wishes to you too!
I always love seeing you ride bikes like these. Bikes that aren't made for riding fast in the twisties and yet you show us that you can. :)
Glad you enjoyed! :)
Next from Schaaf- Honda Goldwing hill climb challenges!! Awesome stuff. Happy New Year!!
Happy new year!
These V twins are so satisfying.
yes!
Especially superduke ^^
Gotta love that beautiful Vtwin sound
me too!
I've ridden an electra glide, the handling left a lot to be desired. Forks stiff as spaghetti, speed wobbles going around corners on the interstate, move the handlebars an inch either direction while going straight
haha sounds like classic Harley
Sheesh, what model did you ride, 89?
@@c4t-tp238 again, what YEAR Electra glide?
@@c4t-tp238 that's pretty old, in 2009 they had a chassis redesign, and now they run on the m8 engines, which is very, VERY smooth.
@@sivvinod3187 This was a 2019 with the Milwaukee-eight engine. Shifted and handled like a truck, slow as molasses unless you're under 5000ft elevation
Edit: My daily handles good enough for my level of street riding and will power up the front wheel in 5th so maybe I'm a little biased.
My dad dream bike, is nice to hear the vroom vroom from harley 💙
good choice from Dad!
Great video Schaaf, enjoying all sorts of different style and brands like most of us. If we had the money all of our garages would be filled with tens of different bikes.
Very true!
That's a heavy and increíble bike.
Love the sound! 😍😍😍
true!!

absolut richtig! LG aus Wien!
Even the horn sound like a car or a van horn ! Nice riding as always !
It does!
Absolutely!
Danke!! Wünsch ich dir auch, lieber Gabriel!
Even the Harley gets the Schaaf treatement, looks like you had fun.
it was surprisingly fun I'd say ;)
keep up good work!allways great to see your videos!
Thanks!
would buy it just to blast som' kickass metal songs while ridin it 😄🤘🏻
been there done that :D
@@Schaaf nice ahahahah
Blast with some Judas Priest😂
Love the work of your right wrist
Thank you!
Brooooom, brooooom, broom; mission accomplished . No need for speed. Happy New Year...
Happy new year!!
Not easy to match and use the clutchless shifting technique on a low revving Harley like this, I can easily do it on sport bikes when I had them until I had the quick shifter and auto-blipper. But owning a Harley with its mechanical feeling clunky gearbox it just doesn’t feel right, plus the forward controls I have on my Harley make it a bit harder for me.
Nice ride! It’s nice to see a spirited ride with some unconventional techniques on a sweet Harley bagger. Great video brother! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
thanks Mr.Sharp!
I came from a Pan America S over to a Fat Bob. Almost have to relearn shifting in general..
Great bike and nice appropriate riding. I like big pulling and breaking power of big twin. Wish you all well in 2021. Keep on with beautiful videos.
Thanks, you too!
Peaceful riding. Love it
Glad you enjoyed it
Who needs the radio with that soundtrack :) They may be slow and expensive, but Harley does make a good sounding bike.
that is true!
Can you drive some more triumph bikes and love the sound of Harleys

Fantastic looking roads & great riding on a big old beast of a bike, cheers.
Many thanks!
Thank you from Canada
Great sound, and nice shifts.
Thanks for listening
Hey could you post location also. I'd like to visit this road on my next eurotrip
it is in lower austria, that's what the description says.

Hi Schaaf! it's me Ivan. Long time no talk. I read description. Chunky Harley..
Welcome back! :D
@@Schaaf Hi Schaaf! how's everything going in Austria? haven't been to Austria since 2018 and we were on our way in 2020 but it came to a stop. Happy New year Schaaf.
Im a new rider soi havea question about how you're riding, i seethat you are twisting the throttle when downshifting, what does that do, thanks
It's called rev-matching
I'm a newbie and i couldn't figure what you meant by driving in a different manner ?
I'd normally take a cruiser like that very slow because like this they're the most fun
@@Schaaf I see, appreciated the reply
I like : "I don't want to scratch the footrest..." @ 0:26 oups ! Happy new year !
thanks!!
Relaxed road
Yea
Hey @schaaf Could you do like a walk around the bike so we can get a better look at it?🙄
I sometimes do that but I don't always feel like it, sorry
Were you clutchless shifting it upwards? How does thr vtwin takes it?
Good!
what tipe of gadget you use to only get the engine sound ad not the wind noise?
look up one of his older video's he has a video explaining how he does it. het uses an external microphone, the brand is zoom i think.
You need to synchronise the video with the external audio file though.
Dank dir! Wünsch ich dir auch!
Off Topic: Is there a chance we get to see you on a Multi V4s any time soon?
Not being a wise ass but if you check the channel he already rode the multi v4 I think about an month ago it’s a awesome video have a good day
+Love thyTuber: Unfortunately i can't tell because: ua-cam.com/video/A_lVU5NGIUY/v-deo.html
Have you seen any of the king of the baggers race series stuff? It's hilariously entertaining!
Yes I have!
hehehe vielleicht ;) Danke, lieber Toni! Auch dir wünsch ich ein tolles 2021!
Hi, if I may know what camera you are using? and also use what mic?
I love Australie, Nice road !
It is in Austria.( Niederösterreich)
haha
Not the kangaroo land! This is Austria, known for his forest cities and the explosive trees (words from the POTUS himself!) 😂
I have an Electraglide as well as some sport bikes. I find it more amusing to ride the Harley fast 😅
Totally agree!
I see you used a chest mount for this, do you also use a helmet mount for other bikes or only chest mount?
both actually
How did you record exhaust sound like crystal clear?
Sounds a bit like 1960s US V8 muscle car.
BTW what road is it? Haven't found it in video description.
"Lower Austria"
since it is my favourite test road I'll try not to make that one too public, sorry
Lieber Schaaf.
I'm yet to ride a harley..it would be an alien seating position for me,but a hell of a lot comfort lol.
in my opinion naked bikes are just as comfortable when fitted with a wind screen
yea I agree. The special thing about the Harley is its bigass and slow V2 engine
@@luis545x39 yea I suppose..I could convert my handle bars on my ninja and that would make a big difference.
@@Schaaf I've only ridden a vtwin once and it was awesome to feel the thump of it but that wouldn't be anything like a big ol' Harley I know
@@livingwithaninja3207 yeah, just put some dirt bike bars on it. much more comfortable and better for wheelies.
I am amazed with the engineering of the engine, in low revs it vibrates as a Harley is used to and from 5000 up is as smoothas silk with hardley any vibrations at all, strong pull through all the rev range. That is very good craftsmanship and engineering. I did read the description by the way.
true that!
Ha ha ha ha, yeah sure.......
@@bigpapa8152 Never tried one?
@@TonVerkleijT3 I've ridden my share of Harleys. My buddies back home, all they ride. Go out for weekend rides, 8 Harleys and me on my Kawis. Jokes always to be made, at my expense, but whatever.
Only one I ever liked was a buddies Fat Bob. Wine red and black, good looking bike, and not enough power to pull the skin off of rice pudding. Great around town, patheticly gutless on the highway.
Harleys are not for me, but I guess some people enjoy the lifestyle and image.
@@bigpapa8152 I do not like the lifestyle and so called 'Bad boys' image either, however if one is to understand the great Harley mystery, one must study all its aspects, not just the dogmatic, narrow view of the Hog Riders. So I put on my naughty boots and went for a test ride. But that will not cause me to buy one, no. I stay on my 1200 GSA.
Can anyone explain me how the downshift process here is so smooth ?
Rev matching
The process is by blipping the throttle for a certain amount of time, while blipping you pull the clutch, but not for long time. Because you will make the rev will drop near the idle. This technique is quite frustrating to learn but as you practice more you will find out the best timing and how much throttle you need
Schaaf, you actually made a case here for buying a Harley, and most of your subscribers tend towards the sporty end of the motorcycle spectrum I would guess. I'll bet they'd hire you as a rep or something. (At least they should.)
I tried but best I could do was receiving a LiveWire ;)
beste Strecke!
Nice. Have a happy and safe NEW YEAR. 💥🎉🎊✨🍾
thanks a lot blipco5!! Happy new year to you too!
Love my Street Glide. Love my Guzzis. Other bikers? Not so much...
Who cares? ;)
It sounds like it needs more rpm... Maybe because of box on camera...
Ok
How do you get that awesome engine sound my friend?? Happy New Year...hope to see you in Arizona some day
read the description mate :)
@@Schaaf I saw it but thats not what i asked you...How do you get such awesome sound was the question not what...haha Its all good..Im watching your...METHOD hahaha
Does it have quick shifter?
why would I lift the throttle then?
@@Schaaf the shifts were so quick that I thought it has a quickshifter.
And didnt notice the lifting...My bad😊

I really don't get the point of these things so they must be fun to drive otherwise they wouldn't exist :P
Man i'd love to try a goldwing next summer...
it took me 12 years to discover fat cruisers but once I did I did actually fall in love with them
They are supposed to be big and comfortable. Supposedly.
@@tokyosmash yeah that's what i don't get, might as well drive a convertible car then. Same price most of the time as well. But I'll give them a chance when i have the opportunity.
@@UltimatePwnageNL I’m not a fan of them either, I ride a Royal Enfield, so you can see where I stand on the “fancy features” debate
@@tokyosmash well personally i do prefer functional fancy features like fuel injection and modern abs, and traction control and gps, hehe. miss me with those painful cold starts and clogged injectors, not braking optimally due to the fear of locking up the front, or stopping every couple intersections to check a map when you wanted to be somewhere an hour ago.
Nice
Thanks
With your impeccable lines I'm sure you would have dropped many a sportsbike rider on this barge.
I don't know about that
