- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Monday Sept 25 40th Anniversary tour. Last performance at Hollywood Bowl of "Wildflowers" from the front row, the whole song. A treasured moment, thank you Tom.
Tom Petty isn't gone. He's just among the wildflowers.
Very well put
That is spot on.
... you are 100% right!
Very well said 😢🌸💐🌷🌻🌺🌹🥀🌻💐💐
We love Tom! RIP!
It’s crazy to see how deep Tom’s dedication to perform for his fans was.
He performed this concert with a fractured hip and looking at him you could tell he was in pain but that didn’t stop him from performing a flawless live version of “wildflowers”
Rest In Peace Tom
not a good example to follow,,,half of women over 50ish will die within a year of breaking a hip. He looks terrible. rIP
I'm so happy I got a chance to see Tom Petty in Ottawa at the Bluesfest. That was the best concert with fans singing the songs we all loved with him. I will never forget Tom Petty and will miss his music, songs forever. It was really a Heart Breaker to know he was in so much pain and never took care of himself. But a dedicated musician for his fans and bandmates. R.I.P. Tom 💔
I agree, definitely can tell he was hurting
His hip was broken, so sad that he has gone. I'm sure he is among the wildflowers RIP Tom.
I hope, somehow, he knows how much he was loved and terribly missed..he was a sweet soul..
YES HE WAS..INDEED!!! MISS HIM SOOO!!
I miss Tom so terribly. I’ll never forget the day that he passed. Here’s to keeping his name and legacy alive forever
@@gerRule he wasn't missed, of course. He knew his fans loved him.
He was asked how he kept things going for 40 years.
He said, it's the fans. They keep coming back!
@@gerRule as for the other part, being dead doesnt stop anybody.
Listen to him daily 2020.
I was at this concert. The energy was incredible. Tom was so humbled by the love shown by fans. It was a great night that I cherish. It's hard to believe he's really gone...
Wow! This was sung exactly a week before he passed. I love this song so much.❤
Tom Petty died of an accidental drug overdose of several medications. Despite a painful injury he insisted on keeping his commitment to his fans, and toured 53 dates with a fractured hip. It worsened to a more serious injury. On the day he died he was informed his hip had graduated to a full-on break and the pain was simply unbearable and was the cause for his over use of medication,” According to his wife and daughter, the manner of death was an “accident,” Many begin with a legitimate injury or simply do not understand the potency and deadly nature of these medications.” Perhaps he was misinformed the severity of these meds. No one will ever know. No doubt he knew Jesus and is thriving in heaven. ✝️
The thing about getting older, is you forget some of the best things from your younger years. Rediscovering Tom Petty has been magical.
Tom was the soundtrack for many of our lives. I, too, feel a deep connection to him and his music. I can't help but still cry when i play his tunes.
He was a humble, sweet guy from Florida who loved his fans and whose songs and storytelling we all could relate to. You are missed so much Mr. Petty and im so grateful 🙏 for all the music you left behind. 😢😢 I hope i find you in a field of wildflowers 💐 someday. You are loved ❤
Dude sang with his soul, only a few left of this breed
One week before he died. He provided us with his brilliance right up until the end.
I could watch this a million times and I’ll still get a tear in my eye. Miss you Tom! ❤️💔
When I was 17 Tom came into the Studio City movie theater on Ventura and Laurel Canyon where we played the original Superman movie for over 12 months straight. I served him at the concession counter. After I gave him his change (everyone used old fashioned money back then) I asked him if he was Tom Petty. He paused, twirled the jumbo Nestlé Crunch bar I gave him in his fingers like a drum stick and grinned slyly. Before he could answer I told him I just bought Damn The Torpedos. He said thanks a lot and went back inside. Love his music even more than way back in 1979.
That's the time I King Crab fished the Bearing seas for King Crab, we all wore out the tapes. And he singer of the time. really supper those times will never be repeated for us old now folks. I paid dearly in to social security don;t take from me you f liberala.
God that is beautiful
thats a cool story....thanks for sharing
What a great story! I’m so grateful when people take the time to share this stuff-we’d never hear it otherwise... Thanks!
I love it. Why not.
This is such a bittersweet video...We all know Tom wrote this for his mom who he absolutely adored....If there is only one good thing about Toms passing , it is that he is reunited with his mom who through his songs you can tell he missed so much...I thank Tom for all he has done for me in my lifetime and he is in my heart forever....
We can see how much pain Tom is in here and the looks passing between the band show such concern and love for him. Thank you for all the music Tom and the Heartbrakers.
We all miss you beyond words.
I agree Tom was the best and miss him very much, but those looks between the band are because Mike Mike Campbell's guitar is out of tune. Regardless he was in pain and the band was very concerned.
It broke my heart when I heard that he had died. He is missed but his music will live on.
He passed a week after this and that just breaks my heart. He performed so well that night and you wouldn’t see it coming. Hurts.
I feel a special connection to Tom. His music has been the soundtrack of my entire life. No matter what I've dealt with. Thank you Tom. And thank you too for sharing our birthday. You're always in my heart and my life. 💝
❤❤❤
I love the peace that exudes from Tom's songs.
He is always the one I choose to listen to, when I am driving some where in my car....RIP
CJWorth1 and he never gets old to listen to. I can't stand most bands or songs for a couple songs. But I can have TP and the Heartbreakers on repeat for days on end
CJWorth1 l always do the same. It’s very fun to listening his music .He is the great guy.
Me and my Son listened to Tom Petty from Seattle to Palm Springs on two separate occasions! I agree, Tom Petty has the best road driving / listening music out there!!
This breaks the damn piece of stone I call my heart.
Tom's voice, Mike's playing, Benmont's geniuw, how and everyone who plwyed and sang with these lads. It's emotional x
An outstanding song…it’s one of my favorites!!!😍❤️😍💖 RIP Tom Petty!!!😍❤️🙏🏻❤️✨😇
This song touches my heart so deeply.
Me too
I can only feel peace in my heart every time I listen to this song
This will be played at my memorial! I love it! TPATH💘!
I've watched this over 100 times since he died. Ty
I love Tom Petty-he seemed so genuine and sweet ! He will be missed!
Tom, you and the heartbreakers wee better than we ever deserved brother. Mike, benmont at al... God bless you!
You ARE free!
RIP great man 😢
💔
Just saw the movie. Such a touching tribute. We miss you Tom. Thank you for sharing your soul with us.
Thank you, person holding the phone, for sharing this moment
I was there that night....I treasure seeing his last of his performance. Quite the gifted soul...rest peacefully dear one🕊🙏🤟🎶
And the world got still
YES IT DID!!!
It saddens me I never got to see him live 😭 what a musician!!! I often wish he just stepped away from performing and is just “feeling free” somewhere🥰
Listen to the live show and listen to the recording. His shows had excellent sound and he delivered constantly. I have always heard stories of his sound checks and just how much he wanted to sound just as good if not better than what you heard on the radio. Just beautiful.
I needed to hear this song today. Of course I have the album, but I wanted to see Tom too. What a gift to have been at this concert! I tried to get tickets but they were sold out. I considered driving to the Bowl and parking my car somewhere outside to hopefully get a listen. God, how I regret that I didn’t. 😔🙏
I am so Thankful this was recored. He touched so many SOULS. I’m grateful to have lived when Tom lived.
2 of my friends played this at my husbands funeral last year. We picked it out. I felt like it was speaking to me, from my Chris. I know he wants me to be happy and carry on.
Love Tom Petty. He really gets to your soul.
What a beautiful thought. Yes, thinking of someone who had this within him. Yet, until the final 4 months of his life did he begin to believe that he deserved to feel free. until I read your comment, I had not thought this way. Thank you
He will always be a cornerstone in American music and songwriters. He was a amazing song crafter, gonna miss this cat
You can see clearly him supporting zero weight on his right hip...pain showing through, yet kept touring anyway.
This and learning to fly are songs which sum up this sadness perfectly. Your free, free to fly, god rest, hopefully there’s a wilbury reunion happening with Roy and George.
Gives me chills.. miss you madly Tommy xoxo
❣️Love this song.
One of my all time favorite songs and favorite albums! Got to see Tom live once, 1993 (?). Wildflowers tour! In Atlanta, GA! Thank you Jennifer for going with me!💜💜💜
He sadly aged 10 years on his last tour performing with a broken hip. He didn’t want to let his fans down. RIP Tom.
He’s never gone,just with the wildflowers😎
I saw him a few months before the show when he was in Boston on this tour. It was the only time that I saw Tom Petty, and I'm so glad that I did see him a few months before he passed. I had wanted to see him live since I was a kid, and it was really special to be in an arena full of people singing Free Fallin' together. That said, the song that I think touched me the most at that show was Wildflowers. He did such a beautiful rendition with the female singers on this tour; I will never forget hearing Wildflowers live that night!
He played his heart out for us. I miss you so much Tom. Thanks for everything you gave us.
ME TOO!!!
Unfortunately it took Toms death for him to leave us heartbroken.
Tom, you will always be missed, thank you for 40 years of sharing, I still get turned on when I hear-" Here Comes My Girl" Your music lives on.
Here comes my girl... my fav song too
ALWAYS & FOREVER!!!
Damn gina! Good on ya. And yep 'here comes my girl' is one that well,to borrow your phrase 'turns me on' also. Hope this finds you well ; )
I love this performance, one of his sweetest songs and he sounds so good!❤️🦆
Barbara McCroy he gave his fans 200% every single performance, all the way to the end. One of the very few that actually cared for his fans. Losing Tom was the end of an era, no other artist, especially the new youngins today, will ever play with the passion and love that Tom did. And he is the only one I can put on repeat for days on end and never get tired of hearing the same songs over and over from been a TP fan since I was 2 and will be for as long as I have breath in my body
Thank you Hank for posting this. Went to see him at the Universal Amphitheater in the late 70s. I will always regret that I never got a chance to see him again.
I still cry that he's gone
Belong in that home by and by....
I had the great privilege of seeing him live 3 times. I've been to too many concerts to count. Those 3 times seeing him and The Heartbreakers were EASILY in my top 10.
Sadly missed, but thankful for such a great legacy of music he left for all of us.
I was here. Incredible. Tom Petty was a class act. Very loosely I met him and the band one time. His daughter filmed a documentary and I went to the premier. Her, him and the band were genuinely nice cool people. Just like all of us. This breaks my heart. Love you Tom Petty.
I was at the wildflowers tour in ohio and this is the song we used for the mother/son dance at my sons wedding last weekend, it’s a special song for us
Many blessings to the Petty Family, The Heartbreakers, Mud Crutch and all the fans , we continue to feel love and gratitude for all the songs that have carried us
Love his music - he is very much missed. RIP Tom❤️🩹
I miss you so, sweet man. I can't believe it's going to be a year since my show at Red Rocks. A year since I've seen your sweet face...Thank you Mr. Petty I love you so much. I pray your family continues to heal and find peace.
I was also at the last show at Red Rocks. Breaks my heart watching those videos and this, seeing and hearing his pain.
I guess in a way he knew if he didn't go on that 40th anniversary tour, he wouldn't ever be able to do it. He was always there, and I didn't realize it until he wasn't. At least we have his music. The last rock and roller.
...Far away from your troubles and worries. Thanks Tom, I hope you feel free. Thanks for sharing H&D!
He was so amazing in concert. I loved him so much. Best music ever. Consistently great. Miss him. Will never get over his untimely death.
One of the best songs ever written saved my 15 year old self from deep depression in 1995
Phenomenal song, at least he’s now not in pain anymore. RIP to a legend that will live on forever
Tom Petty is a sweet and old soul. His music lives on within our appreciation of his work.
this makes me sad because i am 14 and i love tom petty and i would do anything to see him perform live.
Awww you know what he’d say,” I love you, learn to play guitar”
The Wildflowers album was my favorite of his and touched my life so deeply..songs remind me of so many that I have loved now gone but live in my heart forever ...Thankyou for your life Tom Petty...you made a huge difference for millions of people in the best way
Was able to see him his last two go around in Pittsburgh both amazing shows and will cherish them forever. Miss you Tom!
My heart still hearts when I think of him as gone. Such an amazing talent taken too soon.
One of my favorites! Beautiful song!
Hope you're somewhere you feel free.
Kathleen Blackburn oh he is, and God and Jesus are getting some private shows. I believe they just needed Tom to play for them and make them feel better because the world has turned dark. But TP always brought light to anyone he was around.
SURE HE IS..DEAR TOM PETTY LUVER!!!
I love you Tom - thank you for the wonderful Memories! You rocked our souls in Montreal at the Bell Center! Thank you for all you have shared with us. Your Legacy will live on forever! God Bless your Soul! Sweet Sweet Soul - Tom!!
Thanks for posting this. "God it's so painful..." RIP Tom.

Tom doing what he loved, entertaining us!!!...love this song! Rest in Peace sweet soul xx
This was a very beautiful live version . My heart breaks . And what a beautiful backing vocals by the Webb Sisters. TP was my hero for 25yrs (and still is of course).
His vocals along with the UK's fabulous Webb Sisters...just amazing and enchanting.
Still miss his gentle soul!
I am so so sorry I missed your last performance, now it's to late. RIP Tom Petty
brilliant
Your with the Wildflowers and free now Tom. I'm jealous of God and Jesus now, because u know they got them a few private shows when they brought Tom home. God has to be a TP fan. Only angels can make this music
LUV!!!
A true American hero on stage. he was in so much pain. The show must go on...
My favorite of Tom Petty
You belong somewhere you feel free❤
The greatest rock and roll band ever
INDEED!!!
I was not ready for this today
Hanson did a great cover of this song for Tom petty when he passed away! It’s a great song and Tom petty was great💜
Miley Cyrus did an absolutely incredible cover as well.
He looks very similiar to Jerry Garcia in Chicago in 1995...miss them both terribly. You can see he is favoring that leg...We were so lucky to have them
Except Tom is about 200 pounds lighter than Jerry at the end. And he can still sing.
He lives on thru all the masterpieces he’s left us..& then “All the rest” is something to look forward to, already love what I’ve heard..thanks for the great music 🎶
Marvelous camera angle. Thank you for sharing.
