Anne Lister was very brave and strong, living the life she wanted to live at the time without compromises at the best of her possibilities.
I am not gay but that was my favorite scene of the whole series. that is so deep. Walker was a strong lady as well. Living with depression is not easy, it kills your confidence, makes u more venerable to what others think of u cos u have little self asteam she did suffer from depression. Still in the end she was willing to risk everything to be with Lister.
Yes, I agree that Suranne Jones quite simply “owns” the role of Anne Lister in this series. She is incredible!! However, Sophie Rundle is marvelous as Ann Walker. She gives a nuanced performance, filled with vulnerability, fragility and a degree of self awareness that was painful for her character to achieve. We were able to watch her grow in self knowledge and finally to acceptance of her sexual orientation and her love for Anne Lister. Kudos to Sophie Rundle......as well as to Suranne Jones. They are well matched in their roles!!
Their moments of intimacy are tender and yet full of converging spiritedness. It's these moments of togetherness - shared quietly as well as their struggles with themselves and each other - which are at the same time stunning and at times more than nerve-wracking to watch. Love and pain are constantly interconnected.
Of all the Gentleman Jack videos i've seen, i keep coming back to this one! The music, the editing, the sentiment....its perfect. Gentleman Jack has made such an impact and has touched my heart. Such a perfect tribute to a perfect show. Thank you.

I realised that I keep coming back to this video no matter how much time has passed after I watched the show. It has something powerful in it that makes me love it more than any other.
God! That smile at 3:52! I haven’t seen the show yet (I don’t have HBO), only watched the trailer and these short combo videos here on UA-cam. But Suranne’s smile is the first thing I noticed, which even made me smile and think, “Gosh! That woman has a beautiful, heartwarming smile!” It’s rare that people, actors/actresses have that kind of effect on me. Also, judging by her movements in some of these videos, I can clearly see that she’s an amazing actress.

The entire cast were brilliant, casting certainly put the effort in with this series! Apparently there is going to be a second series too!
