I love hearing these songs. My grandparents were medicine men. It is sad most of our medicine men and women journeyed to the other side. Sadly , our younger generation are not learning it. True language speakers totally grasp these songs in its true meanings and symbols. The specificity of the songs tell of protection from the earth, the elements, and keeping in harmony with the deities.

Our elders didnt teach us. Didnt teach our parents. They conducted ceremonies away from us. And now they say learn it...but from who how?? Not very many medicine men or woman are here today to teach the ones willing to pick it up. So I am happy to hear this song and it may be on youtube for all the world to hear. But we know what it is or what it's used for. I'm sad its dying our ways our culture. Soon no one will know how to cure an sickness or how to say prayers. But I have hope we will somehow carry it on with what we know now. Teach your kids. Tell them what u know, show them what u know. If u don't know ask an elder. Take care my people and learn all you can before your elder goes and share it

Many of the elders such as my dad willie lane of the mini goat and I can't remember whether it is of the red house or tower house clans but due to the p.t.s.d. that the boarding school gave him he was reluctant most the time while growing up to even share the dine' ta' with me and my sibs. It made me feel real freakin' lucky that dad recovered enough when my kae was born and he started to sing to her (what he could remember) ...and that is likely the only way that our religion/traditions is/are gonna stay alive....

Colonalism succeeded, and we don't even know it. Our American nation is becoming beige not white like the colonist wanted it. We are losing all our traditions, it took years and years of us not know who we are. When we are completely assimilated, and no full bloods are around then the colonist have succeeded. Our lands will be gone, our traditions will be taken over with the new religion, and we will be nothing but a page in a book.

Seriously, my grandpa was a medicineman, and he did not allow any recordings or photography, of his ceremonies, he told people to keep it sacret...the gods will choose people to continue our native ways, it's up to them, he said, so, hes gone but we just keep faith...I miss those days, I only cherish memories and keep them n my heart, still love them🤗

I understand the wisdom teaching of protecting that which is sacred. I was thinking the same thing myself, but the European agenda to annihilate cultures and languages has grown strong in the modern world and it's deceptive systematic approach has been devastating to those seeking their ancestral roots. I am grateful to have found this information so that I can (re)connect to my ancestral Navajo roots in a way that supports my spiritual and traditional connection. I believe what I do with it from here on out is of my own integrity and intention. If someone has a desire to mock or exploit the indigenous teachings, it is on them and their hearts intention to reep what they sow. Blessings.

So, your first post was while your grandfather was alive? According to the numbers. Curious because you refer to him in the past tense ten months ago, but three months ago lost him in 2020 which is only 9 months in? I ask because you seem to have been watching these videos he forbade, and your participation in commenting on them as a critic but enjoying them enough to pursue them seems in conflict. It's humble bragging and recreational outrage.

These songs are precious yes. But as a Navajo it's more then the songs that are not the only thing being exposed. We as Navajos expose our children to the modern world an don't teach them what was taught to our elders. It's not just about exposing our traditions to the world. We can do that but the outside can't do much with it. They can try to but it takes a lot to be able to walk in beauty. To be at peace with the elements of our world. Not many people can do that. That was why our creator made these certain prayers an traditions for us and only us. Any person can listen to songs and remember every line but could they really in there heart commit themselves completely to our traditions? No, because it is not met for non natives. To walk in beauty is to be respectful, kind, loving, caring, to not only people but to nature an every living thing around you. Reading the mean commits is an example of how people don't understand the concept of walking in beauty . Don't be mean instead teach to others on how to use our traditional songs and prayers.

As Dine people,we have a concept called "Ho zhone haaz dlii" Walking in Beauty, but it isn"t the beauty that most people think of.Beauty to Dine (The People)means living in balance and harmony with yourself and the world. It means caring for yourself-mind body, and spirit-and having the right relationships with your family, community, the animal world, the enviroment-mother earth, air, and water-our planet and universe.

Choctaw sai hoke! Times have changed, our peoples numbers are thin, finding elders for prayer and protection cannot always be found when needed, especially during this pandemic. Energy can be passed through technology, messages, blessings, love can be passed through technology. We always adapt to our environment, technology is now apart of our environment, so please spread the teachings, blessing and wisdom of our elders to the world to see, hear and feel!

I cannot fly to Oklahoma or Mississippi to find a Choctaw Medicine Man and bring him back to my home. It would be extremely difficult to find ANY Medicine Man in Southern California and bring him to my home. These audio recordings were done by the medicine people in order to make use of new technology they adjusted to. It was done with the children in mind. So they’ll be able to listen and learn the songs. These were recorded in a time where children were being sent to schools to be ethnically cleansed. The recordings are a good step in education for culturally reconnecting Navajos.

To connect with anything in this world is to meditate...feel your surrounding like the ground you are on, the wind on your skin, the birds, insect and the movement of the plants and trees. See the the land and sky for the life it provides you. Feel the peace all around you and love life for you only have one life to live. Now closes your eyes and you see nothing so remember, your mind is the only thing that will travel with you after you life is over!

I disagree, it’s important to preserve these songs and keep them alive through the internet. So in any case future generations want to access these while away from home they very well can. The same way you can look up a catholic prayer online, you should be able to find songs of blessings at will. If it weren’t for people uploading these I would not know as much as I do today.

What I find extremely intriguing is the fact that hayah and Yahweh are both ancient Hebrew names for God. Native Americans break up the syllables up a bit more than Hebrews do but it’s plain fully obvious they are using the same names for their deity. There are a lot more similarities too…. Some tribes are easier to see this connection in than others but from my own research it isn’t any sort of coincidence. Kinda makes you wonder why more attention isn’t brought to this fact especially since the freemasonic/Hebrew pilgrims were probably the first to notice, and then they proceeded to decimate and slaughter the tribes…. Who worshipped the same deity. Man, people are fucked. God bless.

    • @Sameerah999

Yes, indeed there are obvious commonalities in our deities and God's different names and meanings. We are all one people😮❤

    • @JP-mn5iv
      @JP-mn5iv 5 місяців тому

@@Sameerah999 it’s very interesting how interconnected our seemingly unconnected world truly is. I’ve heard that the Hopi word for sun is the same as the Tibetan word for the moon and vice versa. Same thing happens within Zoroastrian religion and Hindu religion. The Zoroastrian word for god is the Hindu word for demon and vice versa. Some tribes sing to Yahweh and others sing Wehyah (sorry that’s my white boy interpretation from listening to their songs, no harm no foul on the spelling)….. it’s kinda like the Yin Yang symbolism….. the balance of opposites that dance to make the world move forward. God bless.

I beg for who ever posted this please take this down. If you are really in need to hear these songs and learn from an elder there are many stories that relate to these songs and these are not to be played with in this manner.. Please be respectful of our elders words of wisdom.. This may seem convenient to you all but please take the time out of your day if you really need these songs in your life. Our culture background was not based on recording like this so if there are people who say this is a good thing please explain why? It's been done for thousands of years and technology has only been around for a short amount of time if you really want to preserve the old ways please take the time to learn them.

@@jeanettedesson4317 Well if that's the case why don't the people take the time out of their lives to actually attend and be apart of them? For personal use I understand but to have it public? That's another thing. If one actually was to obtain these songs they would know that teachings of these songs are forbidden to be put out like this. This songs all have teachings behind them when to use and how to use them. These are just sung randomly.

Tell that to the boarding schools and the other belagone' who'd love nothing better than to have our ways die out due to keeping too many of us impoverished to hang-out with a shaman, let alone pay him for the service and with no way to pass it on the ways will be doomed but this is a dang good way to keep the ways alive since most people who are not respectful to the culture don't even find this music .....
