    I'm graduating with my OTA in December, stumbled upon you while looking at SCI for my physical dysfunction final. I just wanted to say don't stop these videos/this channel - you will take off with the simplified explanations and analogies. Thank you!!

    Great advice! Thank you. Could you do a video on acute care ideas and/or pediatric OP rehab? You rock.

    Not everyone drives so if you take the train or bus good idea to keep house keys/transit pass/badge in same place by your door. That's what I'm gonna do. (starting MsC OT school in the fall)

    Thanks for the video I question how the heck did a Foley catheter get pulled out during the transfer. I Like was it a fully dependent transferred and they're just yanking on the patient and not keeping track that the catheter was across the bed. That's rough

    Good tips! Any advice on CI's with particular documentation tendencies? It's my first week and I'm definitely having trouble wording my notes the way my CI wants! Also, I feel like I got dumped so much info all at once - do you have an organization system you used to help streamline this? Appreciate it!

    • @OTDUDE
      @OTDUDE  3 роки тому +1

      First off -- documentation is tough. It takes practice and time. Try looking at examples of good notes to model from. My struggle was writing concisely and leaving out extra information. What may help may be a template so that you touch on all the important points. For me, I carried a personal small notebook with most used terms and phrases to reference to when documenting. If your system allows and your CI is okay with using sticky notes on the computer to store frequently used things on this, e.g. assessment interpretation, phrases, etc. Some CIs may want you to be more precise and you may just write differently than them and that's okay. There's no "correct" way, but reach out to your CI for additional tips. GL!

    I’m starting my level II FW next week and I’m a mom of an 17 month old. My FW experience is one hour away and ends at 6 most days. I won’t see my baby at all during the week. I’m devastated and don’t don’t know if I can mentally make it through. I spoke with FW coordinator and there really isn’t another option for me. Would it be appropriate to discuss any of this with my FW educator?

    • @OTDUDE
      @OTDUDE  2 роки тому +1

      I think it is appropriate as your role is a mom and it's an important occupation for you and not just OT school. If you are not dead set on this FW site, you could bring up these barriers to this specific fieldwork placement as its so far away with such a busy schedule and see if there is another alternative and then go from there. Another idea, which may be a long shot is finding a FW yourself, finding a CI who is willing to work with you, and talking to the manager to see if it's possible (basically coordinating everything yourself) then going to your school and say, hey I was able to find a site that's willing to work with me. Can we make this work?
      That sounds like it's really tough. I can't imagine being away from my toddler for that long! I hope you this works out for you!

      @@OTDUDE thank you for your response. I spoke with my FW coordinator and there’s not much she can do as far as my placement goes. Covid is still limiting out options and a lot of my schools “go-to” places are not accepting students. It’s a hard position to be in. Just trying to stay focused on the end goal. 😅
