I randomly got the living hat for the first time recently during a perfection save, decided to make it a hat perfection save too and now the only RNG hat I'm missing is the mushroom cap!
i like the implication that the only reason you don't use the predictor in speedruns is that you don't like it and not that it's illegal in the glitchless category (not that hats% is a submittable category but still)
Fun fact : 3 months ago when i started playing stardew seriously i was progressing the mines on day 6. Something to remember is that i did not know how rare the living hat was. I had one of those spiral floors in the mines then got to the middle after a 1 hour struggle (ingame) cuz of annoying monters. After i got at the middle i broke all of the crates and some weeds then got the living hat. In the frustration of « not getting anything good OR RARE » , i simply trashed a the living hat for more inventory space… (i realized a couple of days later while watching a random stardew video that this was the rarest item in the whole game) Update: wut 100 likes?!

If you didn’t know you can smash the attack button while using special hammer attack and attack a bunch of times. That hammer probably had better burst than the galaxy sword using that bug lol

You can calculate this by taking the chance of not getting a hat (99,999/100,000) and raising it to the power of 13 to get the chance of not getting the hat on any given second. Raising it to the power 13x where x is the number of seconds tells you your chances of not getting the hat in that many seconds. For a value of 17,712 seconds, the chance of not getting the hat drops below 10%.
i got the living hat on accident while clearing weeds off my farm during green rain, but the tiger slime hat has eluded me forever. I've gotten over 15 tiger slime eggs though, so i will be using your method!

What are you talking about, hat% is totally a submittable category, you just have to create it on one of the speedrun tracking sites.
