Thank you all so much for 3.5k views in one day!! If you're enjoying the content, check out this Forehand/Backhand challenge with Ryan Sheldon and Alex Geisinger!! ua-cam.com/video/Nf-PlWFfjB4/v-deo.html
Great video guys! I honestly found this to be the most helpful distance forehand breakdown video I’ve watched on UA-cam. I would love to see some more on the advanced forehand technique, it’s always fun learning something new! p.s. Loved the little disc shoutout at 15:31 it definitely made me laugh and then drop my jaw watching the throw with it! 😂
Totally agree! Haven't seen any forehand tutorial that goes past the basics. I've been waiting to see this for YEARS ;) Thank you so much for this content. Those power throws are just unbelievable. Sheldon, yeah!
A video on different band exercises and flexibility training for forehand throwers would be incredibly helpful. And also would probably help prevent some injuries for some folks out on the course.
Some perspective here. Ryan is 6' 7". I wonder how far Aaron Judge of the NY Yankess could throw a disc? I think a lot of us 5' 9" mortals think that we can easily throw 400 ft backhand or forehand without perfect form. Been pondering this for a while. Just by his shear height( and Gannon Buhr, Scott Stokley, ...etc), he has to throw his disc 100-150ft past mine without much effort. The disc stays in he air way longer than a 5' 9" person because his release is 10'' higher off the ground. Thanks for posting and standing next to Ryan!
As a predominantly forehand thrower, seeing Ryan Sheldon get that much distance just makes me want to get out there and practice. Definitely learned some things from this video!
SHELDON I'd love you get a lesson from Sheldon. I've played disc golf for a few years now but have never gotten any sort of lessons. All I know about throwing has been what I've been able to digest from videos like this one here on UA-cam
A slowmo of his form from different angles would be a great addition to this. Great video and great instructions! As someone mentioned earlier, a video on band exercises would be nice.
I would love to see the Ryan Sheldon form review session put into a video form. Getting to see him critique and fix someone's form on the fly might bring up more great tips and tricks.
This was amazing. I heard about this video on Disc Golf Course Review forums and checked it out before league today. I already had a decent forehand, but Ryan's tip about foot placement improved my forehand accuracy. I was one of those whose back foot pointed right. Lining it up to point forward made a huge improvement. Count me shocked!
This was very helpful. Thanks!! I like that you mentioned not to snap your hand sideways on the release. Instead, you emphasized keeping your hand moving towards the target.
My buddy posted this to the Minnesota Disc Golf Discord channel, and I’m hooked. Great explanation of the mechanics and some practical ways to implement! This, mixed with Scott Stokeley’s recent video on correcting nose up in backhand are two of the best instructional videos I’ve seen since starting disc golfing nearly 20 years ago! Subscribed! Sheldon. :)
One of the... no... the best video I've seen on forehand. Extra bonus is that baseball knowledge which applies here also very well. What I would like next is more information on flexibility, which body parts need it most here and how to get better at it. Also, if he has some good strength exercises for throwing I could do in a gym, or specialized exercises, that would be very interesting.
Yes! More Minnesota DG content creators is what we need! This is 100% going into my "Best instructionals" playlist I made for field work days. Thanks Sheldon and Bro Tour
Great video the weight shift is something I've been working on so this cleared it up for me. However analyzing video is always the best way for max huckage. Aaaaaaaaand..........Sheldon!
I've tried forehand off and on for 2 years now, I always go back to my backhand and thumber because I always found I rolled my wrist and turned my forehands over 4-5 times out of 10 burning my forehand straight into the ground. It was so inconsistent and I couldn't rely on it I always was reluctant to throw it. I tried the standstill tips you gave in this video, point my feet and hips and rock through the throw and have spent the last 4 nights at the field just working on the simple release with less movements. I have only turned over 2 throws out of a few hundred I've thrown!!! Yes I'm throwing 40 feet shorter than I was before on my best forehands but I land dead center of the fairway every time in great position. The distance will come back im sure of it. Thanks so much for the video, I look forward to many more in the future.
Great video. I've been struggling to get past about 330-350 (and need US discs to get there). Definitely learned quite a few things that aren't in the typical "how to forehand" videos! Sheldon!
Sheldon I have been playing disc golf for about a 1 year and half. Ever since I started playing disc golf it came pretty natural team. I have always been a good player but have some room for improvement. I have some distance and a decent for hand. I currently set myself a three month journey to become the best player I can be I can in that amount of a time. Currently having some problems with my forehand and hopefully could get some lessons with Ryan to get myself to the next level.
Holy crap this is one of the most technical and amazing breakdowns. Really shows what a player from another sport can contribute with tons of domain knowledge!
Despite watching a bunch of FH vids, somehow I managed to screw up the feet forward thing Ryan emphasized. Just standing here it's helping. Can't wait to try it on the course. Thanks for the videos and thanks to Ryan.
Sheldon… great video and really relates to my form at the mo, you’ve made me realise that keep my shoulder and hips together, I have floppy forehands and hyzer-madness, can’t wait to try these tips out 😏
Great video guys! The advice Ryan Sheldon gave on his grip was a huge confirmation for me to ignore all other grips off the tee. Throw it like a Baseball, grip it like a baseball. Thanks so much!
I grip mine with just my index figure and I am the only ones I see do it I play only forehand and can hit about 350 I have tried to fingers but it doesn’t feel like I get enough grip and snap
That 360 throw is nuts Ryan Sheldon, definitely gonna utilize these in my practices and rounds. Thanks for the form tips and run throughs I appreciate it you guys!!!!!
I would definitely fly out to get a tutorial. I'm struggling to consistently get 400 on a forehand. What a great channel, I'm glad I found this today. Sheldon!
This was awesome. I come from the baseball age too. Played for 8 years and coached for 12 years specializing in pitching and hitting. I was a sidearm pitcher too.
I’m sure he does stretches and he also said in video to warm up before throwing hard forehands. Also when he explains form there’s a way to make sure you don’t tear that specific part of your forearm or AKA throw safe forehands

Could you tell me what discs were used in the making of this video!?
I would love to see a video on the different stretching and band exercises that help to create flexibility and strength! Sheldon!
Yeah this is what I need
Same. I’d love to see that as a follow-on video
+1
Agree! I already do some band exercises for my shoulder, but would love to add more, and add some stretching exercises to my routine as well.
Lots of rotator cuff work in terms of flexibility, mobility, and range of motion.
The pride of Canada appears! Good luck on tour my guy
Totally agree! Haven't seen any forehand tutorial that goes past the basics. I've been waiting to see this for YEARS ;)
Thank you so much for this content. Those power throws are just unbelievable. Sheldon, yeah!
Thomas, I almost always have one of those 2 discs in my bag! They are beating in a bit but still stable bombers. Glad you enjoyed the video.
@@ryansheldon4602 are you currently offering virtual lessons in general or is it a one time thing for the giveaway?
Thomas appears everywhere in videos.... and now in the comments!!!
A video on different band exercises and flexibility training for forehand throwers would be incredibly helpful. And also would probably help prevent some injuries for some folks out on the course.
Great idea. Thanks!!
There are many programs that you can find for baseball. The motion is very similar in throwing the ball, so the workouts will help the same muscles
He's right. I threw 400+ forehand in distance competion, without proper hydration and stretching. It took me out of the tournament.
Some perspective here. Ryan is 6' 7". I wonder how far Aaron Judge of the NY Yankess could throw a disc?

Holy crap! Why have I not heard about this guy before.
As a predominantly forehand thrower, seeing Ryan Sheldon get that much distance just makes me want to get out there and practice. Definitely learned some things from this video!
Sheldon! Pushing 400-450 ft right now, hopefully after watching this video I can work towards 500!
Wow. Sheldon has a massive forehand. Great tutorial 👍🏻
Sheldon. So good to get a video that goes beyond the basics. whenever I see a video with Ryan Sheldon I'm watching that thing.
SHELDON
I'd love you get a lesson from Sheldon. I've played disc golf for a few years now but have never gotten any sort of lessons. All I know about throwing has been what I've been able to digest from videos like this one here on UA-cam
Bring back Ryan for some arm training exercises for forehand distance and health! The guy is the forehand goat.
Ryan Sheldon is an absolute unit. We need more videos and breakdowns from him with that baseball pitching background. He really knew his stuff!
Great. Now I have to mess with my forehand form again. It'll probably be worth it. Great video.
Ryan Sheldon? More like Ryan "Bombshell"
Sheldon! Amazing what you can do with that forehand!
A slowmo of his form from different angles would be a great addition to this. Great video and great instructions! As someone mentioned earlier, a video on band exercises would be nice.
You may already know this but pressing , and . can move a video back and forward by 1 frame, blew my mind when somebody told me
holy shit... where has this video been all my life!!!!! i feel like this just unlocked a new level for me. thank you. keep it up
Best forehand instructional I’ve seen on UA-cam. I’ve seen just about everyone btw 😂
Thanks so much Zavier! Ryan is the man! More videos with him to come
Sheldon. Best vid on forehand mechanics. Very Helpful. Thanks
This video makes so much sense. Thanks Sheldon!
Wow that dude throws far! Great videos keep ‘em coming!💪 *SHELDON*
Amazing to watch you trow those cannon shots🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ryan Sheldon, hear and I thought my forehand was decent getting close to 390! You’re on another level. Your grip was a new one for me.
Sheldon
Primarily a lefty forehand player out on the course. Always love learning how to get more distance and how to improve my form.
MN Represent!
Best Fingerpop video I've seen.
Very helpful. One of the best I've seen for advanced players. Sheldon is good at explaining how to develop your distance safely.
omg, Sheldon , will be see more of you soon I'm Sure ! Much Respect! Thanks for the Tips..
I got to watch Ryan Sheldon at the twin town throwdown last year and to see that forehand in person is mind blowing!
Love that this was only a month ago and they were doing a 1,000 sub giveaway - and now they’re already at over 2k! Congrats guys!! 🥳
Sheldon that’s a sick forehand!
Definitely would love a stretching / workout exercise video Sheldon!
Sheldon.
Like many others have said, stretching and a slow mo of his form would be awesome.
Sheldon
It’s amazing just to hear the disc leave his hand in person.
Fantastic tips from the most powerful forehand ever seen, can't argue with that
I would love to see the Ryan Sheldon form review session put into a video form. Getting to see him critique and fix someone's form on the fly might bring up more great tips and tricks.
Love this idea!!
Great to see a different face you crush bro keep the videos coming 💪🏼
One of my top players to watch :) checking in all the way in hawaii 👍🏻 forehand all the way!
It is crazy how smooth Ryan Sheldon is, much appreciated video thanks guys!

Sheldon is amazing

Sheldon…that was awesome. I thought I was good at forehand but this showed me some things that will help me get better and clean up inconsistencies
Sheldon! Love the video and appreciate the pointers.
Holy shit Ryan is a manimal! I can't wait to tear my UCL trying a 360 forehand
Ryan Sheldon is a kind person and great DG pro, Thank you for this instructional!
This was very helpful. Thanks!! I like that you mentioned not to snap your hand sideways on the release. Instead, you emphasized keeping your hand moving towards the target.

Thanks for the video!
So much content for such a small video!! and a free lesson by Ryan Sheldon!! So glad I got in disc golf
Great video Sheldon, best forehand breakdown for max distance on UA-cam!
My forehand is terrible, but now I think I know why. I’m not very flexible in my shoulders. Time to get to work! Sheldon!
Yes! More Minnesota DG content creators is what we need! This is 100% going into my "Best instructionals" playlist I made for field work days. Thanks Sheldon and Bro Tour
Great video! Sheldon

Just changing my footwork like you suggested added about 40’ to my sidearm 😂
Sheldon
Great video! Thank you!

Best sidearm tutorial ever
Me too on band stretches. And thanks, some great stuff there.
Sheldon.
What a fantastic video, most appreciated. Never been to MN but now i feel like a pilgrimage is in order, lol

Best forehand video out there thank you much . I`m ready for the next forehand video .
Great video. I've been struggling to get past about 330-350 (and need US discs to get there). Definitely learned quite a few things that aren't in the typical "how to forehand" videos!
Sheldon!
Ryan Sheldon, a great video with good explanations of the mechanics of the throw and I look forward to applying the techniques to my forehand.

Holy crap this is one of the most technical and amazing breakdowns. Really shows what a player from another sport can contribute with tons of domain knowledge!
Valley is a nice little course I just wish they could get new baskets
Despite watching a bunch of FH vids, somehow I managed to screw up the feet forward thing Ryan emphasized. Just standing here it's helping. Can't wait to try it on the course. Thanks for the videos and thanks to Ryan.

can’t wait to try these tips out 😏
Looking forward to try your grip. It makes sense. Seems less chance to “roll” the wrist and feels stronger. (At least now in my sofa😁)
There are a LOT of great training points and tips in this video! Well done to the both of you for the explanations and filming.
Thanks for the great detailed explanation by Mr. Sheldon!
Great video guys! The advice Ryan Sheldon gave on his grip was a huge confirmation for me to ignore all other grips off the tee. Throw it like a Baseball, grip it like a baseball. Thanks so much!

Awesome, definitely want more
Sheldon.
This was a great video. Definitely going to try applying some of this stuff :)
Hands down the best sidearm video iv'e seen. has helped me a ton. Thanks guys
This makes me want to try forehand a whole lot more! Great video.
This video with Ryan Sheldon was great! I'm going to analyze this and really try to incorporate this into my own mechanics.
Awesome tips on mechanics exactly what I was looking for Sheldon!
That 360 throw is nuts Ryan Sheldon, definitely gonna utilize these in my practices and rounds. Thanks for the form tips and run throughs I appreciate it you guys!!!!!
thats what eagle tried when he hurt his arm
I would definitely fly out to get a tutorial. I'm struggling to consistently get 400 on a forehand. What a great channel, I'm glad I found this today. Sheldon!
Great tips! Been playing for about two years, and these will help my forehand, which is becoming my dominant throw. Sheldon
My brother just started and lives in Minneapolis! I’d love to get him the opportunity to learn some forehand skills from Ryan Sheldon!
I relate more to the instruction and explanations in this video than others, as I too have a baseball pitching background. Excellent video!
This was awesome. I come from the baseball age too. Played for 8 years and coached for 12 years specializing in pitching and hitting. I was a sidearm pitcher too.
Thank you for this video and big thanks to Ryan Sheldon . This might just be the thing I need to fix/improve my forehand drives.
Thanks Ryan Sheldon, that's a wicked forehand. Hopefully this can help me reach 400 with my flick.
Sheldon... Thank you! That was very helpful. Looking forward to videoing myself and comparing to Ryan's advice. Cheers! 🍻 🇨🇦
Love the video. I would love to know what Sheldon does to increase flexibility to ensure safe forehands.
I’m sure he does stretches and he also said in video to warm up before throwing hard forehands. Also when he explains form there’s a way to make sure you don’t tear that specific part of your forearm or AKA throw safe forehands
