NCShorewatcher here, 12 hours repairing church hymnals w/tube very low, but my head picked up as I heard " John Cougar John Deere & John 3:16. on Jimmy Fallon. Had not heard of the song yet, busy w/ family & gardens producing huge amounts of veggies to freeze for winter. John 1,2,3 on t.v. tonight gave this old gal pep to finish project at hand. Fantastic tune that all can relate & sing along. Loved John Cougar, mowed the back fields of Grandpa's farm on a John Deere A/C tractor...after years on the 1958 Farmall...& of course John 3:16 says it all. I can't wait to hear/sing this in concert. Keith has become a genre. Not categorized as in past. His country roots & love seem to continue roots of old trees growing deep;y into the soil. Usually I must listen & write down words to each time line by line until I've memorized. a visual learner's method or getting it down but now with lyrics on actual videos, not looking up written & copying lyrics, it's so much easier & more fun learning the words to this song as one or two from Fuse & Raise 'Em Up.. Thanks to Keith, band & crew of keeping on keeping. I love how this states he tried to find a different way to live and believe, but at the end he keeps coming back because this is what he believes he should live his life by (the country way of life and influences, his musical influences and likes, and then his spiritual guidance and what to base his morals off of). This came out at a time I feel like I'm straying..but this has helped me reignite my faith. Even though it's a kinda superficial song, it speaks to me.
I miss the old Keith - the "Somebody Like You" days. I've been listening to him since he first released "The Ranch" album, and have been inspired since Day 1. He is such a great talent. Although it saddens me watching him try to blend in with all of the rest of the artists in country music right now, because, if you are in any way musically inclined, you obviously know that it has taken a turn for the worse - melodically and MOST OF ALL lyrically. As a songwriter, my goal is to turn that all around, and hopefully start writing Keith some feel-good, beautiful songs again. :)

I'm an old school rocker and not saved by Jesus but this is a cool song.... Urban references an artist I kinda-sorta liked in the 80's but as I grew up and expanded my appreciation of music genres and good, meaningful songwriting... I watched other rockers sell out in so many ways... John Mellancamp always stayed true to his craft and what he believed in. He even changed his name back from the more edgy/racy "Johnny Cougar" against the advice of his managers/producers. John's a great songwriter, singer, a great supporter of American farmers, and an all around great role model/human being. For Keith Urban to include him with America's tractor co. and the good book, Dayum man, that's a high order tribute~
John 3:16 was my grandpas favorite thing in the bible i was 2 years old when he died in 12 now! I was his first grand kid and the only one who go to meet him. he drank and he tried to stop but it killed him. I thought it was my fault bc i was a small baby and he almost fell on me and my mom made him move out and he passed away!

Found Urban during a 7 hr vaca w/my 11 yr old twin sons. They had an Eagles, Keith Urban & Kenny Chesney CD. Of course I knew the Eagles just didn't know the other 2. Arriving home, fell flat back on bed a two 11yr old boys wear a mom out on a 3 day road trip (2000-2OO1?). A Country Music Awards show was on the tube. Exhausted. I hear a familiar voice on t.v. singing something about a hand out the window...Sat straight up. In shock, couldn't believe this most good looking man & tremendous talented (this was , on stage performance was the guy I'd listened to for(with Chesney) for 17 hours straight. Rubbed my eyes as if I was hallucinating. Hooked on Urban's music4ever! A down to earth "real" guy & amazing skills on guitars, a great voice & sis I mention easy on the eyes? Man, didn't think this artist existed but now seeing was Keith Urban of whom I never knew existed, but my twin sons certainly did. After Urban on stage, another performer's voice was recognized...Kenny Chesney! Of course we knew all lyrics to each CD & began our tour of concerts. The boys are now 25 & I thank them immensely for turning me onto Keith Urban & Kenny Chesney. A Keith Urban FANatic forever, followed ever since & making at least 10 concerts. If the world was filled w/people like Urban the world would be a much better place. Love, peace, harmony, a guitar playing & voices lifted up.
I bet she is grace, for God forgives sinners when they repent their sins and confessed them so that they can receive gods full love. You've got it backwards. "Fellow Christians" in Texas need to move to California. Jesus didn't come to save the righteous. You don't get too many "fake Christians" in a community full of people who would spend hundreds of thousands of their personal wealth to sue a church just for existing. Skip that "Let's go be missionaries in Africa" crap. Africa is sending their missionaries here, and we need more. If we could win the hearts and minds of just one city, it'd better be LA (although virtually every city here is a city in critical need of God's love). Because once you control the media, you can share the Gospel message throughout the entire country... this is a battleground for the hearts and souls of America. All the religion in this song is "John 3:16" which may as well be a generic reference to sports fans and "Marilyn Monroe in the Garden of Eden" which doesn't make any sense except in reference to the 2013 short film Tropico. As for rock 'n' roll, George Michael rocks harder than this.
There is definitely more religion than "John 3:16" and the longer I love the more I believe it!!!! Cause it's true there's only one way home! Hence, John 3:16!!!! This song my not be as country as the original Hank Williams or even close to rocking like George Michael but it rocks in my eyes/ears so I'm gonna listen to it again dedicated to ppl in this world with to much to say about nothing at all. I love how this states he tried to find a different way to live and believe, but at the end he keeps coming back because this is what he believes he should live his life by (the country way of life and influences, his musical influences and likes, and then his spiritual guidance and what to base his morals off of). This came out at a time I feel like I'm straying..but this has helped me reignite my faith. Even though it's a kinda superficial song, it speaks to me.

I miss the old Keith - the "Somebody Like You" days. I've been listening to him since he first released "The Ranch" album, and have been inspired since Day 1. He is such a great talent. Although it saddens me watching him try to blend in with all of the rest of the artists in country music right now, because, if you are in any way musically inclined, you obviously know that it has taken a turn for the worse - melodically and MOST OF ALL lyrically. As a songwriter, my goal is to turn that all around, and hopefully start writing Keith some feel-good, beautiful songs again. :)

Urban references an artist I kinda-sorta liked in the 80's but as I grew up and expanded my appreciation of music genres and good, meaningful songwriting...
I watched other rockers sell out in so many ways...
John Mellancamp always stayed true to his craft and what he believed in. He even changed his name back from the more edgy/racy "Johnny Cougar" against the advice of his managers/producers.
John's a great songwriter, singer, a great supporter of American farmers, and an all around great role model/human being.
For Keith Urban to include him with America's tractor co. and the good book, Dayum man, that's a high order tribute~

John 3:16 was my grandpas favorite thing in the bible i was 2 years old when he died in 12 now! I was his first grand kid and the only one who go to meet him. he drank and he tried to stop but it killed him. I thought it was my fault bc i was a small baby and he almost fell on me and my mom made him move out and he passed away!

Found Urban during a 7 hr vaca w/my 11 yr old twin sons. They had an Eagles, Keith Urban & Kenny Chesney CD. Of course I knew the Eagles just didn't know the other 2. Arriving home, fell flat back on bed a two 11yr old boys wear a mom out on a 3 day road trip (2000-2OO1?). A Country Music Awards show was on the tube. Exhausted. I hear a familiar voice on t.v. singing something about a hand out the window...Sat straight up. In shock, couldn't believe this most good looking man & tremendous talented (this was , on stage performance was the guy I'd listened to for(with Chesney) for 17 hours straight. Rubbed my eyes as if I was hallucinating. Hooked on Urban's music4ever! A down to earth "real" guy & amazing skills on guitars, a great voice & sis I mention easy on the eyes? Man, didn't think this artist existed but now seeing was Keith Urban of whom I never knew existed, but my twin sons certainly did. After Urban on stage, another performer's voice was recognized...Kenny Chesney! Of course we knew all lyrics to each CD & began our tour of concerts. The boys are now 25 & I thank them immensely for turning me onto Keith Urban & Kenny Chesney. A Keith Urban FANatic forever, followed ever since & making at least 10 concerts. If the world was filled w/people like Urban the world would be a much better place. Love, peace, harmony, a guitar playing & voices lifted up.

You've got it backwards. "Fellow Christians" in Texas need to move to California. Jesus didn't come to save the righteous. He came to save the sinners... and one of (if not the) the strongest fortresses of sin in the world right now is in Los Angeles. You don't get too many "fake Christians" in a community full of people who would spend hundreds of thousands of their personal wealth to sue a church just for existing.
Skip that "Let's go be missionaries in Africa" crap. Africa is sending their missionaries here, and we need more. If we could win the hearts and minds of just one city, it'd better be LA (although virtually every city here is a city in critical need of God's love). Because once you control the media, you can share the Gospel message throughout the entire country... this is a battleground for the hearts and souls of America. Besides, what do think Jesus would think of someone who hated the world for sinning, and wanted to retreat from them?
