Thank you very much for reviewing and appreciating our little project! We love your work and honestly I (the game designer here!) want to personally thank you for your honest and precise opinion! We hope to improve more and more from this first, tiny step :)
Oh man! I'm always excited to hear from the game developers! I'm happy our channel was able to cover Timothy and the Mysterious Forest. It was such a unique take on the top-down Zelda-like genre, and for that, I and many of my fans cant help but applaud you. Indie gaming is about stretching the concepts and about creating new and innovative genres, so a "Stealth Zelda-like"!? Now that IS unique! It was so tough, and man was I shocked after I finally found the Magic Mushroom! (no spoilers) Haha! What a surprise ending..? Or was it. Lol! I'd love to see what you guys have cooking, maybe even help, if I can. Again, it was a pleasure, and thank you for making your game! :D
The visuals of this game look directly ripped from Link to the Past/Link's Awakening, and I love it. I wish it had tools though, my favorite part of Zelda is the expanding inventory of tools/gadgets for traversing and manipulating the environment.
You do get the iconic lantern and swim fins from later games, but they are more like abilities gained and not items to switch between. I was talking to the dev, and this game has some serious levels of awesome coming down the pike in the future. XD
I wish this was just a flat out a sword and shield or bow zelda type rpg/adventure game, not a fan of stealth but this looks so good graphically. I dig the look.
I wasn't happy about the stealth mechanic at 1st either, but after I got past how much it wasn't like a classic Zelda clone, I really started to enjoy it, :D
It’s on sale for $1.70 on eshop if you own any Qubic games for their anniversary sale. A bunch of the qubic games are $0.17, $1.70 or $5. But I’m definitely getting this one for less than $2 it’s a steal for sure. Great review as always buddy.
In a world full of "gameplay with 983678127639178 features" we told to ourselves "why not make something with only a couple of mechanics and work around those?" :D
I haven't tried this game but when you said "how it is possible to have a boss fight without a combat system" the first think I thought was Quake final boss
I love your reviews man, since my name is Timothy so this just makes me want a play it just for the name. Thank you I'm definitely going to buy it now!
I almost quit playing it at like three different points, but I'm glad I finished it to the true ending. That tree was brutal until I figured out the logic behind the leaf waves attack, which is all it really takes to beat this game. Overall good tbh.
Thanks for the review. At the beginning I thought it was a game for me, but as it seems very challenging , I'm not so sure now 😉. It seems to be very challenging and die and do it over and over again is not the kind of game I like 😁
Right!? I hated it when I 1st plugged it in, but I came back 3 days later and I guess I magically grasped the learning curve, and after that, it was a pretty great experience. Such a novel take on the genre.
Interesting game for sure. I may say it is better than Anodyne which I have. Maybe a video or list of NES style games on the switch would be a cool topic. Doguari, Anodyne, Green Pea (whatever it’s called), this game and lots more to sort through.
That section at 5:00, is that just a trial and error maze that kills you without warning? This looks interesting and I can take the sneaking around enemies, but instant kill spikes that can't be seen until you hit them? That's more stupid than challenging.
@@BudgetGamerChannel I am not a fan of it honestly . It feels like they didn't do anything but port it over 1:1 . I feel like they took the pc version and literally threw it right onto the switch without adjusting anything. Yet we don't have touch screen. Which may have helped. Oh well lol. I may end up liking it if I give it more of a chance. I would look into it more if u decide to go in and pay full price tho honestly.
@@BudgetGamerChannel good luck . I'm looking forward to little wood. That I know I am gonna like lol. It comes out the 28th and the 18th for presale. Maybe u could get a key for that . That would be awesome it's a lot like stardew valley
That game over screen though. Seems like more of a stealth em' up than anything else, are there Zelda-like puzzles or is it more AI manipulation & pattern memorisation? It does seem like an interesting take on the old school Zelda formula though, I'm just not of a fan of the Game Boy aesthetics or brutally difficult games in general, so I think I'll pass. Great review as always Dude! :)
"Stealth 'em Up"!? That's brilliant and I wish I had said it in the review. Lol! Only thing is, while there are a few enemies that require a bit of stealth, many don't, and some require you to manipulate the AI to get them to open a path, so... it is, but it isn't... There are 1 or 2 light puzzles, but they are REALLY light, so I wouldn't consider this game to be even remotely puzzle based. Haha!
@@BudgetGamerChannel I love the idea of it! What other games would you say are in that style?, I know Grizzland is: Thy Sword reminds me of something that could have been on the Gameboy
Oh...! Great question. Lemmi think. Grizzland is a Metroid-Vania, so I guess you are looking more for the GameBoy aesthetic? In that case, Gato Roboto is an absolute MUST HAVE! Cute, hilarious, monochromatic, metroid-vania. Other than that... maybe Awesome Pea for a killer platformer... For Bullet Hells, NULL Drifter! Excellent game. Dogurai is another absolute must in the "GameBoy-Like" category Then maybe "Gunman Clive"? but bth, that is a bit more SNES, but it is monochromatic.
Well, no conventional combat anyway. Where Zelda games have you pressing buttons and pushing pots, this one has you maneuvering around enemies and strategically picking them off where possible. There are bosses though, somehow! XD

Who do I contact about the switch port of this game? The interact button works but I still cannot pick anything up.
You know I’m going to support your project in anyway possible

Oh, dang duder! Yeah, that's a killer deal. Thanks for calling it out! 👊😎
What a great review. I wouldn't have considered it if not for your expert explanation, BG 🤘 I'm adding this to the wishlist now! Cheers 🍻
Woo! Happy to help buddy!
If/when you get it, hope you enjoy it. 👊😆
Bought this on first days of release because I'm a sucker for OG Game boy style graphics. Love the minimalistic uncluttered interface.
When a simple concept is executed well, its always an amazing experience. 😎👍

Appreciate the work you put on your review, I think you nailed it, keep up the good work and may the best days of your life stay ahead of you
Great review, man!
I’ll add this to my wishlist.
It sounds pretty awesome.

Overall good tbh.
Wow this looks pretty impressive especially with the old school Zelda vibe to it
Yeah, the visuals totally had me. Lol! XD
I can't deny it.
TIMMMEHHHHH!
Hahahah! 🤣🤣🤣
Looks VERY Link’s Awakening. Fun!
Oh, it looks like it, sure.... but looks can be deceiving. lol!

It certainly is very far from the "story game" genre, so maybe best to skip this one. I'll try to find one for you next time. ;)
@@BudgetGamerChannel Thank you, but no hurry, take your time, I have a backlog growing quicker than I can decrease it 😂
There are TOO MANY games I have to finish playing... I'm probably buying this to add to that pile.
Im... sorry? 😅
TIMMYYYYY...Timy! Stealth Zelda, now that's a combination to yell TIMY! at. Will add to the backlog. Noice.
Lol!!! I tried so hard not to do a Southpark "TEMMMEY" yell. Hahaha!
This game is punishingly difficult but oh so fun to play!

Good call buddy!
Definitely very kind of you Cory! Thanks for appreciating our game!

Are you gonna play aground? It's out today. I already bought it just waiting for it to be available . It got high steam ratings so here's hoping lol

the gameboylikes are multiplying
They really are, and I've caught myself wondering why. Is it the aesthetic, or is it just easier to design?

"The game starts at the 40% complete mark"... hmmm... I'm no math guy but it sounds like the game starts 40% earlier than stated.
Man the music in this game makes you so depressed 😅
Yeah, it's supposed to keep like "creeping dread," I think. It does change though.
Sounds good but not for me.
