I have been a carpenter for 30 plus years . A good carpenter is not a carpenter that doesn't make mistakes its a carpenter that knows how to fix his mistakes
If you don't make mistakes it's because you aren't doing anything. We are, after all, only human and humans aren't perfect. I prove that to myself regularly.
Spencer has accomplished a lot, but more so, he has educated himself and become such a wealth of knowledge through self-taught, trial and error, but more importantly knowing how to correct the mistakes with quality repairs, not just a slap together half-hearted fix. You all are so blessed to have each other and have such a great working relationship. I still can't get over how fast the children are growing, they are so BEAUTIFUL!!! I look forward to every episode you post. This great-gran never gets tired of seeing happy babies and listening to their giggles and questions. God Bless You All!
Was I the only one who teared up when you sang Happy Birthday to Bear? I consider myself one of his biggest fans - what a handsome baby! Love seeing him. God bless you and your beautiful family.
I love your content, fixing mistakes, a birthday party for bear, your little girls first ladder climb, your sons walking the plank, your love for each other and your great way of sharing family issues civilly and professionally like we do in our relationship. You are an amazing family. Thank you
Spencer is being way to hard on himself he did absolute wonderful job on the container houses i remember it when nothing was it building it from scratch he installed the central heat and air unit everything i just enjoy this family husband and wife very down to earth and playful makes me smile and the kids are joy to watch too and dogs lol
Spencer is doing a great job, with support from his regional manager ! Otters in your pond , how wonderful, much more playful than snakes, and not as threatening. Seasons Greetings from the UK.
You guys are amazing, love your vlogs . Been watching since the beginning . Kids are growing so fast, they are adorable. Love the fur babies too. God Bless your beautiful family.
I’m a carpenter and this kind of stuff happens all the time. Doors and windows are always measured in feet, then inches. I’ve ordered a 28” door to be given a 2’ 8” door. It’s a nightmare
When ordering doors. It is as follows a 24” door is ordered 2’0” a 28” door is ordered 2’4” a 30” door is ordered 2’6” and so on always even feet and then inches. The height would be the same example 80” is ordered 6’ 8”. Easy as that it’s our industry standard. Our apprentice carpenters are thought all aspects of our trade even how to order to mill standards.
@@RandomUser311 that may be the case, but don't you think it is at least weird that we drive cars with a 3.5 liter or 5.0 liter engine and when you go to the doctor and get an injection it is measured in mililiters or grams ( in the metric system) ? i live in the US but am a dutch national, so i have worked with both the metric and the US system and must say that the metric system is not just more accurate, but also easier to work with..... just my 5 cents ( euro cents that is lol)
@@martinjanssen8680 didn't say they shouldn't switch, just that it would be hard for an individual/small business to do when all their suppliers sell stuff measured in inches. Their government needs to get behind it.
I felt so bad for Spencer when he realized his mistake in the cutout. But I was happy to see that he didn't beat himself up about it like he used to. He simply figured out how to fix it and then moved on. Good for him. And I laughed when Mackenzie teased him that the cutout for the door wouldn't be as hard since it already had been partially cut and then looked back at the camera with a big old smile. Too funny.
I'm guessing that maybe the otters like the pond now that you've aerated it and it's cleaner. Well done. When McKenzie first hinted at some new life form in the pond, and mentioned water moccasins, I thought that it might be something like an alligator, so I heaved a sigh of relief when she said it was an otter.
The otters love the pond because it is full of fish. Once they wipe it out, they will go back to the creek and look for another tank full of fish along the creek. They are cute, but also detrimental to stocked fishing ponds.

I have to say, Spencer really is everything all you guys have been saying about him and more. He seems to be so even-tempered, which is such a plus when you’re cutting anything out in any of the trades not to lose it. I always feel that I want to see more that the videos are too short but that’s just letting you know that I enjoy them very much. And now we’ve got Otters. How cool is that? This is gonna be really fun to watch as they hang out and if you guys are going to try and feed them and if so what because they do eat fish and crustaceans. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks guys.
Mistakes are inevitable, but seeing how Spencer figures how to fix things is awesome. I think we actually benefit by seeing a video like this instead of one that everything is 100% perfect all the time! Simply because most of us are going to make mistakes and learning how to fix them is really valuable. Loved seeing the otters in your pond! Their high energy and playfulness is captivating! Can't believe how fast your children are growing!! Just doesn't seem possible! Your place is beautiful, but I would personally have a real problem with the poisonous snakes. If you but yellow sulfer all around the pond and all around your fence line they will not cross over it, it burns there belly they will turn and go back. It doesn't smell to good around the place but they won't come into your yard or area you but it around. We did this for years on the farm. Also helps with mosquito's and other bugs the smell don't hang around to long. If you have a lot of rain you might need to but it out every couple months but in dry weather may every 4 months. Looks like the Bubbler has totally cleaned the pond.. the otters wouldn't be in it if it wasn't cleaned up! Great job! and no, I don't think cutting out for the windows is easy and mistakes are bound to happen, it's how you recover from them that matters!
This sums up living..making mistakes...fixing mistakes...celebrating life...and appreciate the 'small' things. What a gift you got! Bringing air and life to the pond was rewarded by a family of otters. Wauw
Ive been in the building game for 54 years and i still make mistakes !!! So glad it worked out , love this one with the kiddies and dogs , I hope the otters stay and become part of your family , 😀🥰
Robin from Spain. I did exactly the same many years ago (imperial) 22 inches instead of 2ft 2inches. The old old adage measure twice cut once. But it does not always work if your thinking about something else. Take care you are doing a fine job. Wishing YOUR FAMILY A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
They say with age comes wisdom, but you two are wise beyond your years. I'm probably 40 years your senior and I learn life lessons from you every week. You are amazing. ✌❤
Spencer, I am a retired welder/fabricator-20 years- I learned early on always do measurements in inches only. not feet and inches it saves confusion and figuring later on. Happily steel is forgiving and if you cut too short you can weld back on and its as strong as before. You are doing great !
Mistakes are bound to happen, but what you have been able to accomplish so far is amazing. I love Otters , great to see them in your pond.Happy Birthday Bear.
I also felt bad for Spencer when he determined he made a mistake in measuring for the size of the window opening. Best wishes to all of you for the upcoming Holidays. Love the otters!
You guys always figure a way to fix any mistakes you feel you make and it turns out looking absolutely amazing when you are done. Looking good guys. And hello to the new pond babies. How fun is it to just sit and watch them play...
As an old plumber's helper, I was told, measure twice, cut once (this was after I cut a piece of cast iron 3 inches too short). I can see how you made the mistake. You did a fine job with the cover up and a coat or two of paint no one will ever Know. LOL It is a great job of getting the otters on video. The cleaner water sure makes a BIG difference with bringing some cute animals to watch. Better than the snakes, yes
Great recovery Spencer! Happy Birthday Bear Bear! Beau and Cam are getting so big! Those otters are going to be great at ridding the pond of those snakes! Always looking forward to seeing you and awaiting the next video! 🎉🎉
While this gentleman is correct about the otters and the snakes, keep in mind that they will also take a heavy toll on your fish population. Love the channel, you guys hang in there!
From the beginning I said "Spencer is the man", and he still holds that title well. He always manages to solve a problem and keeps moving forward. We have no doubt that this project will be just as beautiful as your home, especially with the "Regional Manager" on board as well. 😆
What you do is amazing and thank you for explaining the complexities of the cut outs. There are very few words in the English language that describes how awesome you both are. Happy birthday to your pup, it’s sad to see the white show up on his face.
Thank you for taking the time explaining the methods of building. Yes, it’s true, I didn’t think about the time it takes for each opening. Also, otters will eat all kinds of things including snakes and will even team attack an alligator! I’ve seen it with my own eyes. The kids are getting so big and so cute!
Happy Birthday Bear Bear, he's too sweet. I don't for one minute think that what Spencer's doing is easy, he just makes it look easy. I'm in awe of both of you. Keep up the good work. 👍🏽
Spencer is doing amazing job, if we never made mistakes we would never learn. A few mistakes are bound to happen along the way. But it’s going to be amazing once you all get it finished. Love following your all journey and thank you for allowing us to follow along.
I love your family! It’s been such an incredible journey. I have been enjoying your humor and ability to make everything work together with encouragement and understanding. It’s important to have a regional manager to make sure quality workmanship is done and morale is hit! I have been impressed with the videos and music and the narration. I can’t wait for the next video. Hugs!
I have watch from day one. I ran across the first video during a very dark time, in my life. I found your video comforting. You see, I had just lost my youngest son to suicide. Your videos were such a comfort for me. They gave me something to look forward to. My son was a builder. I immediately subscribed to your channel. It gave me something to look forward to. I would wait for the newest videos. The “birth” of your new home was just amazing. The passion you both show is just amazing. When you finished your home is was bitter sweet to me. But when you decided to do a “Mother in laws” cottage, I was so happy. Your whole family is amazing and beautiful. Thank you for keeping me anxiously waiting for the newest videos. 💕
Spencer, you rock dude .. your persistence and tenacity at problem solving are commendable .. very nice to see otters in your pond OMG .. that's awesome .. 👍 .. you two have the "MIDAS TOUCH" when it comes to homesteading .. 😉 .. great to see the kids growing and everything good .. best for you guys this Christmas and New Year !! .. keep them videos coming .. 😉
Happy birthday Bear Bear! 🎊 🎉 🎊 🎉 The children are growing so very quickly. Love watching your family interact with each other. Love to hear you picking on each other in fun.
I make a lot of mistakes when I work on cars or house. I've been watching you guys since almost the beginning and I have seen you fix every mistake you have ever made. You are a very smart problem solver, I am working on turning my laundry room into a closet and I messed up pretty good today and worked through it but I actually thought of you, I regrouped and started over and it is right now. You inspire others to try!
Need not explain dears the efforts Spencer puts on each of his works, he’s a perfectionist & nothing goes unnoticed when it comes to perfection…keep going ❤
When i started building, I made many mistakes and blamed many things. I heard over and over. "It's a poor workman who blames his tools." You did what a good workman does, fixed it. Looks great.
I think your doing great. If something is wrong, just think out of the box and fix it. If you don't have enough room in the container just make a bump out like an RV. Your house is so cool with the parts you built off of the container. I would have never thought of that. Ya'll are so smart, I know you'll do great.
I absolutely love you two! One of the best UA-cam couples, ever! I’ve been married since 1985. You two will definitely make it! You get each other. The comedy your wife brings to the videos, is epic! Way to go Life Uncontained! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Keep up the great work, you two! 👍🏼
Spencer has far more patience than me. If I had made that mistake there would have been a lot of bleeping in the soundtrack of the video and some Olympic hammer throw quality tool launches. Keep up the good work Spencer.
My sister and her husband live in a beach house on the Puget Sound. A few years ago a family of sea otters chose their deck to live under. They have raised several kits and they play on their deck at night before going out to forage for food. When it snows their tracks are on the deck when my sister gets up in the morning. I suggest setting up a camera to capture them should they decide to stay. It would be a good learning experience for your family. I enjoy getting pictures from my sister of the otters as they play on her deck.
This is fun having another build channel. That's most of what you've done so far and people love it. I hope we'll see some family vlog style episodes too. There's lots of successful channels doing that with the main criteria being charisma which y'all both have in spades.
Happy birthday Bear! wishing you many more birthdays to come. Spencer, It's ok to make mistake cause that is how we learn. You got these!👍 Happy Holidays to you all!
I like how you are using the cargo bars to help keep the frames in place. Very ingenious. Mistakes are part of any job or container home. You acknowledge it, fix it and move onto the next window or door. You two work very well together. Stay safe.
Building under the metric system is a dream compared to the imperial system. Believe me, I have worked with both systems. All precise measurements are in millimetres, that’s a bit over 1/32 of an inch. Certainly buying a 1200 x 2400 sheet of wallboard seems like a lot of numbers but you get used to it. Metrication in Australia kicked off with decimalisation of our currency in 1966. It wasn’t until 1988 that the last legal imperial measurement was abandoned. The history of the changes is an interesting mix of industries deciding to change and changes by legislation. Some references to the old imperial systems remain. You can still buy measuring tapes marked in both systems. Longer lengths of timber are sold in increments of 0.3m or about one foot. And proud parents sometimes refer to their newborn’s weight in pounds and answers. Bottom line: Metrication proceeded slowly, carefully and was generally welcomed. Some were initially sceptical. Sitting behind two older women on a bus in Sydney I overheard: “What do you think of this new decimal currency?” To which was answered: “Oh, it’s a bit too fiddly. I don’t think it will last.”
On top of an awesome mistake fix by Spencer, and Bear's birthday party, you got otters in the pond! What a treat to watch! (Oh, and yeah - metric rocks. I grew up with it in Scandinavia and to this day, Imperial sets my teeth on edge.)
Oh that is so wonderful that you fixed the 3window opening and then put the door frame next to it and Spencer you are so great at your welding skills that once it is painted you won't notice it, and it will look so great. Happy birthday to your sweet fur baby and so cute to see those otters swimming in your pond, I bet they like that the pond is so much cleaner and they can really enjoy it so much more now. Thanks for another great video, stay safe and happy, sending love and hugs, bye!! 😂😍👍👋💜💜💜💓
Your family is so lovely. It is nice to see little bits of them here and there. Have you ever considered doing your weekly video regarding the build and maybe an extra with more just general living on the property, etc. More of a vlog? I know I'd tune in for each and every episode, but I also realize you have a huge project underway and two small, precious children. I just thought I'd let you know that I believe we'd all love to see more of you! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and anyone else who reads this. I wish everyone the very best this Season and a wonderful, healthy 2023 (boy it feels weird typing that number!). Heather🇨🇦
Yahoo a new video. Excellent work guys. Everyone makes mistakes. You fixed the mistakes and moved on. Excellent job! You both impress me so much. Have a great day. Happy birthday 🎂 Bear
I love watching your videos. I won’t ever build a home like yours but I see how much work you put into everything you do and the production of the videos. I’m addicted.❤
I think Spencer is doing a wonderful job . He is such a perfectionist . He just has to have it perfect , but sometimes things are going to have to be a little off . It will be ok . I think the windows and doors are going to be fine.

Spencer for all that he does as far as building everything pretty much on his own you cant dock him for mistakes and learning everything on his own he's a rockstar

I'm enjoying your videos and with each one, I am really, really considering building a container home after retirement. I need to go back to the beginning to see how you settled on a container home and bought the units.
Awesome video as always. Watching gives me great pleasure seeing such wonderful people achieve things they obviously love doing. Can't wait to see the final results of the new guest house. I'm watching from my hospital bed recovering and receiving chemo treatment. Hoping that I can live long enough to see my son grow up and have a family of his own. Our son at 13 is great and does all he can to support his mum while I go through everything. He makes me proud that he has family at front of mind and puts in the effort to ensure things get done if I'm having a bad day. Take care of what you have and enjoy life we only get one run around the roundabout it's worth the effort to make things happen as you want.
I have a new diagnosis myself and while it's very early and very treatable, I know stuff happens. Scary. I'll be thinking of you healing whenever I start to freak out a little. We are all in this together. Your boy will have strength and compassion he would not have learned otherwise. Take care.
As a "metric person" I SO agree with you. I couldn't work with 3/8 inches and all the other confusing stuff. You will work it out, I am sure. There have been bigger challenges and you fixed it.

The metric system is wonderful. We just work in millimetres. And yes, we still mess it up! 1505 cut for 1055 etc.
Love your work👍
Great content and really enjoy how you show the good and bad, plus the kids, dogs and wildlife. Love your channel.
I know I was looking at the
muzzle too. He is a sweet dog. ❤

Spencer is amazing how he sorts thing out, happy birthday to bear. It lovely to see your beautiful family enjoying wildlife too. X
Happy Birthday Bear Bear, he's too sweet. I don't for one minute think that what Spencer's doing is easy, he just makes it look easy. I'm in awe of both of you. Keep up the good work. 👍🏽
Happy Birthday to Bear-Bear.!!!!! Hope he has many more happy years with you guys.
Hugs!
Spencer the MAN the Myth ,the Legend !!! Awesome job on yet another container build !! Kenz, you are one lucky, beautiful woman !!
I just love you two. Your kids are too funny. Glad you salvaged your mistake. He did a great job.
The otters are a bonus!!
🎊 🎉 🎊 🎉
The children are growing so very quickly.
Love that the otters came to play...
Spencer - you do really good work 👏
Happy Birthday Bear. Thumbs up to the very patient builder dad.
Need not explain dears the efforts Spencer puts on each of his works, he’s a perfectionist & nothing goes unnoticed when it comes to perfection…keep going ❤
Well done guys, look what you've accomplished already with your beautiful home x
How awesome are your new pond mates!!! So cute!!
Spencer and you are such an inspiration!! Love seeing the 2 and 4 legged babies!!
Y’all gonna have to build an entire town because I love your videos!
Happy Birthday Bear! Aaawooo!
It nice to see the developments of the house. Mistakes do happen and glad you guys managed to fix it
I hate the music beginning because now I have to wait :-) I love this family.
My wife is Canadian, and we tend to use metric in our house... it's so much easier than imperial.
Spencer is doing a great job! I have watched for years and I am amazed by all the two of you have done. Keep it up!
Spencer’s skills ✅, otters in the pond ✅, Bear’s birthday ✅. Great video!
Perfectly said ^ 😊
Happy birthday Bear Bear!! 🎈🎈🎈💙💙💙. Hats off to you Spencer for always getting the job done! 🥰
We've all been there, mistakes happen, you'll be alright Spencer. Great to see the otters in the pond, awesome. Love the vlog :)
I hope the otters stick around and call your pond home 😊
This is fun having another build channel. That's most of what you've done so far and people love it. I hope we'll see some family vlog style episodes too. There's lots of successful channels doing that with the main criteria being charisma which y'all both have in spades.
I’ve lived in Houston 43 years and TIL we have otters around here? I had no idea; that’s so cool!
Stay safe.
I really wish you would do a hour long show, I could watch you all day long. Merry CHRISTmas to you.
Having 3 otters in your pond means you're doing something right. Irrigating it and cleaning it up was a good thing to do.
Looking good!! The otters are so cute! Hope yall have a Merry Christmas🎄

No matter the situation… you always find a way to make it better , Spencer !!
It’s gonna be beautiful in the end ! ❤😘
I tend to make mistakes when I'm tired. So pace yourself. You already have shelter. This build does not need to be rushed.
I think Spencer is doing a wonderful job . He is such a perfectionist . He just has to have it perfect , but sometimes things are going to have to be a little off . It will be ok . I think the windows and doors are going to be fine.
I have been here since the beginning and I wanna say it is sooo inspiring to see you guys accomplish so much! I cant wait to see more! You guys truly are amazing!

You guys are doing awesome work I know it's difficult at times but just keep up the good work, 👍
I have followed you from the beginning of your house build. It has been interesting, informative and exciting. You have a beautiful house. I have come to know you and how well you work together. I really respect your hard work ethic. You are good people. Thanks for bringing us all along.
Spencer for all that he does as far as building everything pretty much on his own you cant dock him for mistakes and learning everything on his own he's a rockstar
Great job. What a wonderful addition to the pond. I hope they stay.
The otters are there cause you fixed the water, also otters eat snakes and they're adorable to look at
I agree we should have switched to metric years ago! It sure makes medicine a lot easer! Oh yes, isn’t it measure twice cut once! Your doing a fantastic job! You need to make those otter a winter home complete with straw for heat!

OMG I LOVE THE OTTERS THEY ARE VERY GOOD AS PETS OUTSIDE OF COURSE I HAD 2 FOR YEARS THERE REAL SWEET🤷♀️❤️🤗💯
I'm enjoying your videos and with each one, I am really, really considering building a container home after retirement. I need to go back to the beginning to see how you settled on a container home and bought the units.
Metric is not just a far easier system, it is also more accurate especially when you weigh something.
Your pond is looking so good now.
Take care.
Water Ghost and Carolyn T. God Bless both of you 🙏❤. I hope you will recover completely ❣❣
As a "metric person" I SO agree with you. I couldn't work with 3/8 inches and all the other confusing stuff. You will work it out, I am sure. There have been bigger challenges and you fixed it.
Man i hate when the music starts at the end, means our time is up. Love watching you guys. Great job and beautiful family. Y’all are truly blessed.

I was brought up under the imperial measurement system, but then my country (NZ) went metric and, suddenly, it was so freakin' easy! if you use metrics then errors like this just .... don't happen! Feel for you, matey ...
