Well, it is subharmonic, so the fundamental is only a G2; that note is the bottom comfortable note in a baritone's range. Geoff is still a lower voice classification than baritone, though: at least a bass-baritone, but I'd still say an easy bass voice.

@@jaydenhodkinson Yeah, I didn't know he clarified that it was chest. It sounded to me like it could've passed for a breathy subharmonic.
@@hypercubemaster2729 Not at all. He did a newer White Christmas with the same G1 but this time subharmonic and they sound nothing alike. Either way we don't really need that conformation, the last note here is a clear sounding low chest quality. I know this because subharmonics are less breathy, have a quieter first harmonic, and are more robotic sounding because of the mere nature of the subharmonic. So yeah. Also I think Geoff has been doing the subs for like 4 years and this is way older.
And if you listen to it with Skull Candy headphones, it’ll make them vibrate like crazy! And you know that it’s chest when that happens because if he used subharmonics, it wouldn’t make the headphones vibrate.
Can we talk about the fact that Layne did a brush snare, water drop, and sleigh bell sounds flawlessly in this? He's honestly so underrated.

It's a subharmonic G1, so his vocal mechanism feels like he is only singing a G2.
Nevermind: I could have sworn I heard him say before that it was subharmonics, but he claims it's chest; that said, I believe him.
It's chest, as Geoff can go as low as F#1 in chest depending on the time of the day. He also didn't learn or start using subharmonics until in the Daddy Sang Bass cover when he dived into contra F at the end. Not everything low is a subharmonic, and it takes a trained ear to discern between chest and subharmonic by listening to the upper harmonics. If you want to learn more, check out Bass2Yang on UA-cam.
Edit: check out @Shinobi Vocals 's comment asking "was that G1 chest voice", to which Geoff personally replied yes on his account. Daddy Sang Bass cover came out Jun 15, 2018, so only in the past three years has Geoff been using subharmonics.
