There's crossovers, and then there's the Porsche Cayenne GTS. In a segment that's grown quite a bit over the last 20 years, Porsche finds themselves in a rivalry with the BMW X5M and Mercedes Benz GLE, but in the $100k price range, is the Cayenne GTS better than it's competition? Let's find out!

I own a 2014 Cayenne GTS, I bought this because I wanted to combination of a 911 and an SUV. In my experience it’s 80% 911 in terms of fun spirited of driving. But sitting up high is very important to me on highways etc and this provides that. Porsche has a premium price and in my opinion that’s because of the driving experience, you never feel like you’re going to lose control Control of this car. And that’s what he was experiencing around 22 minutes. I’ve driven Mercedes and BMWs and you feel like the backend is going to break loose or the front end is going to wash out. Only under the most extreme high speed cornering do I feel like my Cayenne GTS could break loose. In fact I can’t even remember that ever happening. The other major advantage of this car is the ice and snow capability, I don’t think anybody else can beat that. I can drive on the ice with summer tires with no problem. My previous car was a 2012 911 Turbo S, I went with the Cayenne GTS because I didn’t need so much speed. And I didn’t want to own two cars. The cayenne makes a great all-around one car solution.
I just test drove a Cayenne GTS today and I know exactly what you are feeling. It blew me away with the level of refinement and control it gives you. I reserved an allocation and have to wait until Q4 for delivery and ohhh man is the wait going to kill me. My daily driver has been an '02 Subaru WRX for the last 16 years, and while I will always love it (and definitely keeping it), this upgrade has been a long time coming.

Beautiful Example. Although I don't think the Cayenne is a crossover. It's a full-blown SUV. Is that the Chalk color? It's a beauty.
For me, the heads up display isn't about whether or not I'm going to get in trouble, it's about HOW MUCH trouble I'm going to get in.

I am a Porsche 911 owner and thinking to have one Cayenne GTS. I lost some confidence while driving my sister's Macan S as I didn't feel passion and the Porsche DNA. I am hoping GTS version will regain my enthusiasm toward Porsche. After viewing your video, you pretty much ease my concerns. I will have a test drive and verify everything. Thanks. :)
The Macan S is definitely more relaxed than the Cayenne GTS for sure. It’s smooth and comfortable but is nowhere close to being as raw the Cayenne. It definitely emphasizes luxury over performance. I’d like to think of the Macan S as being a more refined Audi SQ5. If you take the GTS out for a test drive I think you’ll enjoy it much more than the Macan
@@BostonAutoBlog What about the Macan GTS vs. Cayenne GTS? I love the visibility and sovereign-like road presence of the larger Cayenne... but somehow the Macan feels nimbler - maybe the PDK just seems snappier than the Cayenne's Tiptronic?

Great review, I have a base 2019 cayenne, thinking about buying a cayenne GTS, does the GTS give you a quiet/luxurious feeling in casual driving? people who own previous GTS model say the suspension is stiff and not so quiet, is that true?
The GTS definitely leans more towards the sporty and aggressive side rather than luxury and comfort. That's not to say that it wouldn't offer a great relaxing driving experience, but it's certainly geared towards drivers looking for something engaging and responsive rather than laid back and soft.
....and great job on the test drive not turning into your own lane.

I think this is "Chalk" - it is something like $3,600 extra. "Carmine Red" and "Cashmere Beige" are the other 2 very expensive ones.

people buying a car is not an asset. So anyone expect them to keep there value, u should keep catching the bus. Buy a car because it is practical and u love it , and its comfortable. I buy a car for its ride how comfortable and easy to do long road trips.

It’s built on the MLB Evo platform that not only underpins the Macan but also Audi sedans from the A4 to A7. It’s a unibody chassis. Therefore it’s a crossover
Macan is a crossover, Cayenne has always been an SUV. Stop saying it so much haha
The Cayenne is considered a mid-size luxury crossover. To be technical due to its size it’s a luxury crossover SUV so it can be called both. It’s built on the same platform as the Audi Q7/Q8, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus which are all known as crossovers.
@@BostonAutoBlog Usually, crossovers are SUV looking without the offroad capabilities and the utility factor of an SUV. The Cayenne and the Q7 have always been SUV's. I don't know about the Q8/Urus.
Outside the US, these are pretty much the biggest vehicles you can get. I understand USA has quite some large ones, but it doesn't have to be a 7 seater Escallade to be called an SUV
@@BostonAutoBlog Also, wikipedia is not always accurate to how products are commonly referred to in the real life. Technically, "crossover" is a made up marketing term, so there's no scientific truth there.
@@Nardib in the US they’re known as crossovers. The BMW X7 is designated as a full size crossover. The only vehicles known as SUVs are built on body on frame chassis, like the Tahoe, Escalade, Jeep Wagoneer, and Ford Expedition

Why do you keep talking about this being a family car? I'm single, no kids and I love it. Why the discrimination? Leave that crap out.
Just because you're single doesn't mean everyone clicking on this video and looking at buying a Cayenne GTS are as well. This crossover balances practicality and performance very well, and it would be a disservice to "discriminate" against buyers with families who are looking for a fun daily driver that fits their lifestyle.
I can tell you're one of those generally problematic people in real life.

It is a start stop button technicaly, you don't stick your key in there. That's a fake key that stays there and instead of pressing it as a button you just turn it. but your keys are in your pocket
