Hi Joe and Danni 👋. A word to the wise from a foolish one who learned the hard way! Where any water carrying pipes go through a created hole, please ensure that some tubing covers the pipe. My partner had a narrowboat with gas heating for the water - sink and shower - and we didn't realise that the throb of the engine or the turning on of taps from cold to hot or from a stream to a prolonged jet caused the pipes to vibrate and expand accordingly leading to friction and rubbing; which caused the pipe to fray and eventually leak. Not knowing what was happening we thought the pump had malfunctioned and, like you, spent over £100 buying a new one - to no avail. By the time a plumber friend discovered the actual problem and fixed it, we had water-stained walls and floors which looked awful! The plumber also recommended putting a piece of copper piping at the part which goes through a hole; fiddly but not expensive when you consider the costs of the alternative. Apologies for my lack of 'technical talk' but I'm an elderly female and my partner recently sadly and suddenly died so I can't ask him for the names of the plumbing bits! Really enjoying seeing you both creating a lovely narrowboat home. Stay safe and take care. xx

Well I'm almost caught up with real time now - just bingeing the USA roadtrip in it's right sequence then I have only a couple more boat builds before I catch up to where I'm watching backwards from the end here. So glad about that but tinged with a little sadness at almost having run out of new watches. Brilliant boat build great talent there Joe you remind me of Kris Harbour - he's building a sustainable smallholding on a piece of land in Wales. Like Joe he'll take on almost anything and usually wins ! Danni guiding influence even the Barbie pink bulkhead is growing on me ! Excellent channel guys

If you mount the Jabsco pump on rubber motor mounts it will be quieter. The noise is resonating through the floor at the moment. You could also make a sound insulating case for it.

Joe, Did you consider putting a bit of Neoprene beneath the pump to absorb some of the vibration being transferred to the floor? I did that with the same pump in my boat.

You always do such a good job of things and always tidy up after yourself so please, please, please clean your fire! Use some of the ash on a damp piece of cloth or kitchen roll and it will bring up the fire glass like a treat 👍

I like the looks of the astroturf, but might trapped moisture promote rust?
To be fair the floor was trapping water itself & we won't be drying it every day. Will see how we get on through the next few months, can re-paint every couple of years to protect the steel if needs be

Looks like your right on my mooring when I was there, years ago. I remember looking out onto the little brick hut in the field most mornings. Beautiful spot, it felt like it was a different world when I was on my boat there. Great bunch of people there. Great content about fixing up your boat too. Love to see more of the surroundings please.

I would LOVE to know what the southerly most canal point is and how far up north you can travel by narrowboat
Kennet and Avon (where we are) is about as far south as it goes and around London and then as far north as York!

Great vlog Joe, love how you just get on and do stuff!! - a quick recommendation on the water pump - they work really well with flexible connections, so fit some PVC pipe etc and it also stops vibrations.

The wooden trim? Proper Job (based in the south west) but most builders merchants/DIY stores will do it - it’s 12x44mm pine strip wood
