Man, he is very melodic and all his solos makes sense, if you know what I mean. Big fan here and thanx for showing how those solos are supposed to be played, although some viewers thinks you are not playing it right LoL
Scotti and Snake are a killer combo. The way those guys play off one another is amazing. Amazing guys and even better players. Thanks for the lesson Scotti!
Scotti - I saw you on Uncle Ben's channel and I had to drop by. I'm truly amazed at how awesome the YT community is. Seeing rock and roll royalty sharing some of the most incredible insight on this platform is just awesome. Thanks for stepping through this and thank you for sharing your art with guys like me. -Greg
So many memories around this beautiful song and fantastic solo. Time goes by, and this is definitely part of the soundtrack of our life! A big hug from Italy...
Scotti and Snake were the reason why I started playing the guitar. 25 years later and I never actually got round to learning this solo - until now. Thank you for this.
I just came across this video. It brought me back to 1990. I was 10 years old when I started listening to Skid Row. I'm 41 now !! My dad took me to see you in Fort Lauderdale in 91. They had a "nobody" open up for them called Pantera. LoL. By the time I started playing guitar, I grew into heavier music. But I am going to learn the solos that you made videos for. Don't know if you will ever see this but thanks for everything. I still remember every word to every song on your first 2 tapes( yeah, I had tapes !)
Scotty -you have been an inspiration to me, since 1988. I’m so glad to see you sharing the magic that you brought to us all in Skid Row!!! you are a patient and natural teacher, I am one of the folks who recall it was said you and Snake were teaching back before the record came out.
Scotti is a melodic genius of guitar. His guitar playing is masterpiece to my ears. I can't wait to see him play live when they tour new album. Cause all the fans (gang) will be here!
I remember as a kid hearing "In a darkened room" and it just blew me away! Inspired me to pick up the guitar! That solo to this day still is one of my favorites to crank the amp and play! Thanks for all the amazing tunes and rock on 🤘
Think if Jeff Beck would have had UA-cam to teach lessons of his solos when you were growing up. This is what you are gifting us. A million thank you’s sir. Quicksand Jesus and In a Darkened Room; to me it doesn’t get any better! We will wait patiently for you next lesson.
That note, that one Jeff Beck note that drifts into a harmonic screams to my soul EVERY fkn time man. I bought this album the day it was released in Australia and listen to it all the time still. This album is a major in the soundtrack of my life. Thanks so much Scotty, I never tried to learn this before because I didn't want to butcher it. I might give it a go now. Thanks brother
Hi Scotti!!! When I was a boy I dreamed with play guitar like you. Finally today 30 years later I have my first guitar and I begin to try to play. Skid Row was performed the sound track of my youth. Thank you so much for that kind of educational videos. You are great!!!
Scotti Hill! Man! It’s been a while! You really should do more of these breakdowns man. Your approach is one that does not belittle nor go overboard on note, theory, or breakdown of each phrase in it’s infancy! Most of us only want to understand the actual breakdown of what is being played. KISS! Keep It Simple Stupid! I was a soldier in the US Army and saw you guys open for Motley in Frankfurt Germany in 1989! Been playing for over 40 years. You are 3 years older than myself. Cut from the same clothe possibly! Have a good one Brother. And put out more of these videos man!
Yesssssssss!! Excellent, thanks Scotti, sounds so cool. Remember that Jackson from......jeez, how old is that?!! Sounds so similar (to me at least) to the Strat(?) in the video...
Scotti and Snake, your guys are THE MOST inspiring Hard Rock/Metal guitarists for me! Slave to the Grind and Subhuman Race inspired me soooo much. You guys produced the most kick ass riffs and solos without all the over the top shredding that are too complex to achieve and tiresome after awhile. One of my fav songs of all, THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Slave to the Grind to this day is among my all-time top ten albums. Thank you for everything, man. You've been along for the ride through all my good times and all my bad times. We've been through much of my life together, even though we've never met.
You are a legend my brother! Just want to thank you 🙏 for your music, which inspired me and got me through High School, the United States Marine Corp and 30 years of Marriage. It has been a fun ride and I am grateful.
This is one of my favorite Skid Row song...and your guitar Solo is Brilliant...very melodic and enhances the message of the song...Very good playing Scotti !
Hey Scotti! I really enjoyed the lesson. If only I had a guitar 🎸. You are an awesome guitarist! I love to listen and watch you play. Thank you for sharing your guitar knowledge with your fans. God Bless You and your Family. Have a great day. Hope to see y’all in concert in NC preferably in Greensboro. Starr ⭐️
Wasted time was an amazing track. Great video as well. And the question remains: is it all just wasted time? No. Not when you are enjoying skid row. An amazing band I hope to see and support AGAIN this fall.
Wow, how cool is this ? A tutorial from the original artist in person? This is so awesome Scotti. We really appreciate you taking the time out of your life to do this for us. Your solos are iconic and I am always trying to spread the gospel of Skid Row !
Thank you Scotti, I enjoy all of your solo videos. I really does help us seeing how you actually played it, not many artist will take the time like you do…Thanks
Brings back some great memories, saw Skid Row on their debut tour with Vain in 1989. Scotti is such an underrated guitar play. Great band, great songs.
Your solos Mr. Hill are absolutely the best. First 3 songs I learned . I remember you. 18 and life. Youth gone wild. You guitar playing inspired me to pick up guitar and kept me outta a lot of trouble. Thank you. Truthfully you and Snake wrote a lot of the most memorable solos and riffs of all time. Period . Nobody can argue about that
Hello from Brazil, I went to a show in São Paulo in 1992, Hollywood Rock, just fantastic, one of the best guitarist and owner of the most beautiful solos I've ever heard
I learned this about a week after Slave came out. I must say I screwed up only once. You teaching the kids these days is so awesome! I must say thank you sir!!!! Also thank you for putting out such a great piece of work. This and I Remember You are my favorites to play. Again, thank you!!!
Wow! Just WOW! This is childhood dreams come true! You were/ARE still an inspiration! Truly one of the absolute best. Thank you for this, and all that you've done 👍
Scotti, I love you man..I grew up listening to your riffs and solos and what's inspired me today to be the best guitar player I can be..I want to thank you man for your music your talent and now many moons later I'm watching you show me how to be the best version of my long time guitar hero I can be..Skid Row Forever Slaving to that grind...thank you Chino505
Thank you so much for this Scotti. I just learned this solo and can't stop playing it over and over. I adore all your solos. I'm such a huge fan. Skid Row was my very first rock concert...I was 12 years old - 1989 in Toronto at CNE opening for Bon Jovi.
I just saw Skid Row October 28th in Reno and was blown away. I have cervical spinal stenosis and playing guitar is nearly impossible at times. Seeing some of my heroes that night inspired me to the point we walked all the way home, and I picked up my guitar and played until I couldn't feel what I was doing, and kept going. Scotti's videos further inspired me and I hope to see more of them.
Skid Row, one of my favorite band of all time. Awesome tunes, and fucking awesome sound 1989 teenager. I will always remember the first time I put the Youth Gone Wild vinyl on my turntable. A burst of energy and emotion, the guitar, the riffs, the vocals (the doubling vocal, like the German band Accept, but better), the drums, the bass, the band! What sound !
3 years ago picked up my first skid row cassette and changed my life scotti you’re a huge inspiration for me. 19 years old and playing skid rows cover of cold gin in our band. Keep the videos coming man🖤🤘
Scotti. It's such a weird coincidence. I was mowing my lawn yesterday and this song came on. I marvel at this solo in real time on the album. Such a great melodic piece. For some reason, I particularly like the end of the solo how it melds back into the song. Great work brother. I love your work.
You guys were my first real concert back in October of 2017 during bike week. I was 19 then. You played at Frank Brown Park in Panama City, FL. That was one of the best nights of my life, and I was right there by the stage near you, Scotti, listening to you and snake shred away 🤘
One of my favorite solos ever and probably my favorite you’ve done since I first heard it in 2010. Thanks for an awesome lesson and some tidbits on the history of the solo Scotti! 🤘
Dammit man! I wanna go back in time so badly. Miss this stuff when it was brand new to the ears and life was so much easier. Scotti, you made awesome music man!
Bought everything skid row, listened to everything skid row, dreamed about being half as good of a guitar player as you. Seen you guys and wish you guys good health. You made an impact on my playing. Thank you and I wish you well.
Awesome Scottie is back again, another great solo, you guys were what started me out on guitar all those years ago. hope to see another vid soon. take care Scotti and keep rocking.
One of the greats! Bro I can’t tell you how many times I have studied your lead work and sound. You have been a huge influence on my Playing as a guitarist I just musically all around from my younger years to this day. You’re totally appreciated
Been playing guitar for nearly 40 years. This solo is extremely emotive and tasteful. Your use of whammy bar coupled with tasteful vibrato just kills. I’ve been in a bit of a guitar rut and decided earlier today that I’m going to woodshed some of your solos using your videos. This will be my source of “lessons” for the next month. My band will likely never play any Skid Row songs but I’m confident that I’ll learn something about playing the guitar by working out your solos. Thank you for this video!
Thank you for your kind words. We all slip into the occasional rut. Sometimes it’s good to step away for a few days. You’d be surprised at how fresh everything is when you come back. We are all students. Enjoy the journey!
Major props for taking the time to create these tutorials for your fans. Not everyone takes the time for this. I appreciate it and I'm sure most everyone does.
Every solo he takes fits the song to perfection! Powerful & melodic is how I would describe Scotti’s playing & he never sounds like some clown just wanking. Just amazing!!🎼🎸
I love this solo. The wailing note leading into feedback at the start of the solo is simply chilling....so awesome dude! I remember getting this album the day it came out. Time flies.
I never understood it why Scotty isn’t talked about more . He literally wrote some of the best guitar solos of all time!
Exactly!
Maybe because he's focused on being a good musician, and not a prima donna
For sure!!!! Let the lead fit the song and he did it. I could go on and on about this.
Easy bro! The music industry is more worry on shunning light on new and young garbage to influence other idiots and make profit.
Man, he is very melodic and all his solos makes sense, if you know what I mean. Big fan here and thanx for showing how those solos are supposed to be played, although some viewers thinks you are not playing it right LoL
Love that he has some of the same gear yet from 30 years ago and how humble he is. Much respect
You did some of the very best solos of the era man! Thanks for the memories!!
Agreed.
Same!
Absolutely!
@@xhaleyxx Absolutely he did!
Great solo and song!
That guitar solo sound in this song back in the 90's is what makes me learn guitar. Verry soulfull and nail the song emotion.
thanks for taking the time Scotti you"re awsome!!
Scotti and Snake are a killer combo. The way those guys play off one another is amazing. Amazing guys and even better players. Thanks for the lesson Scotti!

Scotti's solos are amazing!! technique, tone, melody. Few players can pull this off, and Scotti does it over and over again!!!!
Your leads are always so well thought-out and constructed. You definitely serve the song
So many memories around this beautiful song and fantastic solo. Time goes by, and this is definitely part of the soundtrack of our life! A big hug from Italy...
Scotti and Snake were the reason why I started playing the guitar. 25 years later and I never actually got round to learning this solo - until now. Thank you for this.
to me sounds like a Van Halen Solo, a great solo Scott
I seen skid row with pantera in 1990 in roanoke va. Im 53 now and skid row is still one of my favorite bands. Scotti Hill you rock
One of the two most underrated guitarists of my generation. Snake is the other.
I have never heard anybody underrate Scotti Hill. On the contrary.
I think the word 'underrated' is overrated, personally.
My apologies. No offense intended. My comment was meant to be tongue-in-cheek. He is one of the greats, there’s no doubt.
💯
My favorite song and solo from Skid Row! Thanks for sharing Mr. Hill.

Thank you Scotti for all the hours of listening and enjoying Skid Row albums. Kept me going forward through hard times.
Scotti, I've been wondering how to play your legendary solos for years. You're phrasing is second to none. Thanks for posting these. :P

No.You playing solos of songs that inspired our lives means a lot for us.Thanks bro.
Seeing a new video from Scotti pop up in my subscription feed is like getting unexpected mailbox money.
My favourite Scotti solo. Must have been a great moment when you jagged that big harmonic in the studio. Thanks for sharing man.

I love that you kept your original guitar that you recorded with. Thanks for being one of the first actual artists to show us how you really did it.
Hi Scotti!!!
