It amazes me how many people don't get Skye's character. If you betray her she has nothing for you anymore. She didn't save Ward out of some sense of love, she saved him because she isn't a murderer.

So...in one episode, the main team finds out that one of their own is a traitor and murderer, they lose their base because it is stormed by the US army, Skye barely escapes Ward oh, and they furthered the question what happened to Coulson, too.
Normies: That is totally a filler.
And Garrett gets the info from the hard drive about the serum that resurrected Coulson that he needs, which has been his goal and the purpose of Ward's mission all along.
While Skye puts a tracker on the drive, meaning the team can now track and pursue Garrett and Ward.

Most people don't actually understand the word because its meaning is subjective in its current form, because most people don't agree on that meaning.
If you just say filler you are basically saying 1 of 6 things without specifying which one. Without an explanation following it the word is more trouble than its worth and even with one its still pointless since you could have just said the explanation on its own.
Most of shield fans don't understand what filler is. Apparently season 5 was the best season, if not right behind 4. What kind of bullshit is that? This show is 50% filler. Coming from someone who has watched every episode live since season 2

Yes. You do know what happened to Maria Hill after Fury "died" because she went to work for Stark and is in Avengers: Age of Ultron is several scenes.
She is also in Infinity war.
It was also established in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' during the montagey scene near the end of the movie, where we see Sharon Carter shooting in the shooting range/room/whatever it's called at CIA and Maria Hill sitting as for an interview at Stark Industries, which this episode just elaborates on.
The one for sure thing I can say about AoS is it's not any lazy writing. I don't that the Normies have to worry about that. They do however play the long game on a lot of it's plots, so I hope they stick around for the following seasons. The really does get better and better as the seasons go on.
I've found a bunch of Mack bits to be lazy. Basically whenever he gets passionate and starts yelling, he makes statements that make no sense when you take into account all the info at his disposal.
Mavoc I felt that they stayed pretty consistent with Mack. He's a pacifist, morally centered, and strong willed character that stands by his beliefs no matter the circumstances. I think his yelling just points out how strongly he believes in a particular point and that he will fight for his beliefs. I feel he is well written, maybe you just didn't like the character.

In season 2B Mack complained that Coulson should have never pursued the alien city and that the only reason Hydra found it was because of Coulson's searching. Seems Mack forgot that Cal was at the satelite place that Shield used to find the city and Shield being there was the only reason Cal didn't get that info himself to give to Hydra. Also Hydra was after the alien writing in 1x04 long before Shield was aware of it. As for being a pacifist, he made a shotgun axe to be able to fight more effectively, which he has used to kill on several occasions. He had the wonderess line "I'm the guy who kills Gordon". He was all for killing the ghosts in season 4A even though they ended up being innocent victims. But oh no, let's not kill the Hydra trained psychopath assassin with voices in her head and a power believed to be capable of destroying the planet.
All that said, I still love the character.

I had a problem with Mack's reasoning in Season 5 for the exact same reason. Also with him so easily dismissing the love of his life without even giving her a chance to fully explain her thoughts/feelings. If anyone should have been willing to give Yo-Yo the benefit of the doubt it should have been Mack. I really like Mack as a character, and his beliefs in general are more in keeping with mine, so I tend to identify with him more. That said, in season 5 he had some moments that seemed less like personal complexities and more like he was written out of character. It could be dismissed as him having been under the extreme amount of stress that they all were, but still. It's unusual for SHIELD to do this. Characters (just like real people) can be hypocritical without it being out-of-character. They can even change their minds or beliefs about something, still though. It didn't seem like that's what this was and it made me feel a bit disappointed in Mack.
Burn Notice, better than Shield?? wow, I can't wait for them to finish Season 4. There is no comparison.

I was just disgusted by the "burn notice" comparison lmao. Shield season are always better than the previous season (except season 5 and 4), to me, Season 4 was so good, I enjoyed it over Westworld S2. Fight me lmao.

I will never understand Pat lol. At this point in time, I would probably not let Ward die. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people say they would've TOTALLY done something in a TV show a character couldn't. The reality is they're thinking of that situation in the context of a TV show, not real life. It's not easy to essentially decide someone's death as it's happening right in front of you. Especially someone you really cared for just 24 hrs ago.
Parenegade Yes! This! Exactly this! People shit on characters all the time for having emotions that a human being would have. Like being afraid, angry, selfish, shocked, or not suspicious of every single thing. Or when a character who considers themselves a decent, normal person can't suddelny kill at the drop of a hat. Try to really put yourself in the position of the character, for whom every situation is real and every choice matters, and then see what you would do. The character isn't supposed to be an avatar for what an audience member finds most convenient, but a real, layered person. This really bugs me if you couldn't tell.

Parenegade In general people just aren't as invested as they need to be for some shows. There are a lot of people that will criticize actions as an audience member with privileged information rather than from the perspective of characters. A good example is the Skye and Ward situation ; the normies as audience members knew Ward was evil and they call Skye a bad spy for not knowing immediately.

Watching these videos again i'v noticed that they definitely didn't give season 1 a fair chance, in my opinion the last filler episode of the entire show was the one with lady sif, I can't recall there being one since.

almost no one really understands filler as a word. Whatever you think it means will likely be wrong to a group of other people. Its like calling a minority racist and having them come back with "X people can't be racist". In that scenario your both using different meaning for the word and therefore its completely worthless to just say it.
Never expect someone to know what YOU mean by filler.

Khay, so are episodes without "action", episodes that don't follow source material if there is any, episodes that are slower paced in general etc.
I understand what you mean but the point of my comment on filler was that its not a word that means just one thing to everyone using it. You can argue that "Filler only means one thing" but you will be wrong from the point of view that if people are using the word for multiple things it becomes a word that can mean any of those things. Enough people use the word and identify it as such that they will get offended at the word being used any time it does not conform to what they THINK the person mean't by it.
It does not matter who is right or wrong in the sense of meaning but rather in the sense of communication. If you argue something without knowing what the argument is your just going to get into a bind because your assumption was wrong. Especially on the internet where everyone will chime in with their own understanding of the word and ways to judge it.
You are saying that they mean your version of filler when they say it but did they define what they mean't and did it mean what you think filler means? I don't actually think they did.
I'm so happy you guys are starting to really dig this show. The writing only gets stronger from here. In particular, the last arc in season 4 was the best TV I've ever watched, so I really hope you guys don't give up or anything.

A litte update from patreon about AOS if you guys are interested:
1. Nahid will join the gruop going forward after season 1 and has so far been in both 2x1 and 2x2. He has only seen season 1 and didnt continue with season 2, but is now back on board the AOS train.
2. They plan on maybe starting doing double drops for lost on patreon, but maybe also on youtube, which is understandable since its a long show with many episodes, just like AOS. So now there may be a chance of more than 1 episode a week, if we let or voices heard. So we need to let them know, maybe mostly on socialmedia since i dont know if they read the comments alot. Jamaal Ellison - Everyone has been there but Navi. However, 2x1 and 2x2 were filmed back-to-back. They haven't mentioned her that i've noticed; so, she might have just missed that get-together. She seemed to like the end of S1, so we'll see when it's posted tonight if she is back for 2x3. Watching them react to S2 has been awesome so far IMO.

I liked it when Pat was on Fitz's wavelength. Ward was totally a friend/big brother/hero figure for Fitz. Hmmm, at this point (in Skye's shoes), I couldn't have killed Ward. Mostly because Skye hasn't killed before and it's a big deal. She wasn't primed by Shield-Hogwarts-Academy to be a spy and make hard choices like that . . . much less involving someone she's considered as a friend/mentor/crush for months. And perhaps, deep down, she wonders if there is still good in Ward at this point. As for whether or not that is true . . . we'll find out . . . .

After the quality of episodes become more consistent like in season 2, they'll probably be more into it..

They uh like the show more and the nitpicking is less than what it used to be. They seem to have forgotten some plot elements of the previous season however and draw weird conclusions at times. They'll probably become less annoying as it goes on.
Identity what forgotten plot elements and werid convulsion are you referring too. I'm on patreon too, but I don't know what you are feeling too, except the whole 084 thing.
the only way to redeem Ward at this point is if they showed he was a Winter Soldier, if Ward started resisting Garrett and Garrett started saying "Longing, rusted, furnace, daybreak" then Ward was back to killer mode.

Coulson's rescue of Skye, and their escape from the plane, is one of the most bad ass scenes in the whole MCU.
Fittz is the only character who's growth throughout the show is some of the most compelling I've seen on a tv show.
Lwando Cuka aka joss whedons little brother, who hasn't done anything worthy but the ignored MCU show shield, wrote a nerd character who ends up becoming this like other worldly, loved, charasmatic person so he could feel better about himself (hasn't happened in reality yet for him, even after 5 seasons)
Damaged Heroes I was very nerdy when I was young but I grew in recent years. Now I'm nerdy but I play sports and do normal shit like regular people. I feel I can relate to Fittz. Maybe that's why they wrote his development like this to be relatable to nerds that want to grow and nerds that have grow.
Lwando Cuka I can understand that fully, it's just the writing and the self imposing onto fitz is what bothers me (if that makes sense). like it's clearly obvious from a writers point of view that fitz is put on a pedestal and people like ward are thrown to the curb. fitz got amped up to the extreme while everyone else got the short end of the stick. I actually like fitz storyline more than everyone elses. I'm just saying writing wise, it's not that great. It's just being like "okay, fitz is my spirit character, what bullshit am I gonna write him into that makes him out to be a huge hero?". idno
No, he's not. There are other characters on AoS whose growth is also some of the most compelling on TV.
Let's see: he is a showrunner of a successful TV show that's been renewed for its 6th season; previously ran another great, if underrated, SciFi show, wrote for another popular show and for a successful and popular Internet musical; probably is quite well-off; is happily married to a beautiful and talented woman that he also has a great working relationship with; has a lovely daughter... Nope, by all accounts it seems like Jed Whedon has done very well for himself.

That's a weird question but I don't know if I would have let Ward die I mean Skye is a person she doesn't like to Kill and she doesn't like to see anybody die she rather see that person in handcuffs and rot in the cell basically she's not a heartless person she got a good heart no matter how much evil that person did it's a reason why she didn't let Ward die she will probably kill or let somebody die if she has no choice and that's the best I can explain

So let me get this straight. Couple of episodes ago almost the whole group condamned Skye a bad spy because she didn't know Ward was Hydra with zero evidence and told him where they were.Which by the way the whole team would have done she just happened to be the one talking with him. Now the team comes to base. Everyone has disappeared. They found some clues like dead agent Koenig, written message telling Ward is Hydra and Simmons report that Ward killed Koenig. Still some agent Fitz is in denial and continues to be for couple more episodes. No one says a word about him.
He says he does not want to watch cartoon but yet he watches minions pat you crack me up HAHA

Nah this isn't filler. this is progressing to the finale ane even setting up season 2. I can't believe the reactions Deathlok and Lola got. I really actually love this episode. But my favorite part is Fitz and Simmons, especially by the poolside. Also, you guys when you talk about the best spy show, you've got to mention ALIAS. AKA the quintessential spy show by JJ Abrams himself.

Okay, um... a filler episode doesn't contribute to the overall season plot or advance it in any significant way, and if it is skipped in the watchlist, no one will be confused or feel that they've missed out on something important. Let's do a quick checklist of landscape-altering stuff that went down in this episode: Maria Hill told Coulson that SHIELD is officially defunct, May and Coulson found out about project TAHITI, the team found out that Ward is Hydra, Skye put one over on Ward and confronted him before Coulson rescued her and reunited the team. That's not a filler, my dudes.

They were still the Nazi deep science division, though. So while they did not pursue Nazi ideology, they were part of the Nazi Party, aided the Nazis in war and reaped benefits from the Nazi's war crimes. So they're associated/affiliated with Nazis.

I love the parallel of how Garrett threatened to kill Ward to get Skye to do what he wanted, and back in an early episode Coulson injected Ward with the "truth serum" to get Skye to trust them.
Except Coulson never injected Ward with a truth serum, because SHIELD has no truth serum. They pretended to get Skye to cooperate.

well this show is definitely like one of the best written shows in history so the comments about it being like mid-tier was funny. y'all can barely even follow the story and catch the details. like all of the first half of season 1 is connected to the overarching story and each other via main plot line or b-plot or common characters and you thought they were like all random episodes lol. you try to nitpick it but the show is more cleverly written than whatever you are making up in its place.
also calling this "filler" is ridiculous. you want them to drag it and claim that would be more fast-paced. that is like oxymoron. at least i think most of y'all agreed on that.

I cannot believe that this was recorded only 4 years ago. The way men talk about women, mostly speculation about Skye’s feelings for Ward (yeah, she wants to fvck him!) here, is hugely disappointing. Why can these men not accept that she is a well written and complex character?

On Skye letting Ward live- I don't think she loves him at this point, and if you had asked her as an abstract question "Does Ward deserve to die?", she'd probably have said yes. But she can't actually sit there and watch someone slowly die and not try to help them.
