If the story of yajuj wa majuj is problematic, then the trials which befell the people of firaun are also "problematic" as is the people of the cave themselves surviving without food and water. These are the miracles of Allah and it is easy for Allah. We have to acknowledge that out knowledge is limited and Allah is not limited.

You misunderstood Yasir Qadhi. There's nothing in the tradition actually stating Yajuj and Majuj (trillions of people) have been locked away behind a massive wall for thousands of years, it's just the mainstream understanding a few hadith, some weak ones and some stories that People took from the Bank Israel and threw the label of Islam on it. The people of Firaun and the people of the cave are actual stories from the tradition which we have to accept because it's clearly stated in the Quran and Sunnah. That's the difference. I understand Yasir Qadhi position I might not fully agree but I completely understand it.
They are all problematic in some sense but it could be argued that they were miracles of God that have happened and ended in the past and we would have no way to prove or disprove of their occurrence today. However, the story of Yajuj and Majuj is a continuous story that spans through our time today until judgement day, that means that as we write to eachother right now, supposedly, there are a tribe consisting of many billions of people hidden behind a giant wall somewhere on earth trying to dig themselves out daily. This is a falsifiable claim as we are able to examine it ourselves by looking at the earth and trying to find this wall and that tribe of people behind it. And since we have thus far not found such things even though we have mapped and explored the entire plannet very meticulously in the past few hundred years, then here rises a much more problematic situation. I hope now you understand why the story of Yajuj and Majuj is much more problematic than most other stories in Islamic tradition.

Sheikh you said you have a hard time believing that there is a tribe hidden from mankind that we haven’t discovered, but we know about people who have never had contact with modern civilization. How can you believe that Allah took a man from earth to the highest heavens and not believe that Allah ta ala can keep a tribe of people hidden somewhere on earth?
Quran says: On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment. The hypocrites will call to the believers, "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allah . And the Deceiver deceived you concerning Allah . ( Quran Chapter 57:13-14) Quran also tells that believers don’t doubt even on the things where Quran is not clear. The people who doubt on verses in Quran are those who are deviants. It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding. ( chapter 3:7) What about Y’ajooj and M’aajooj in Quran. Is this really that ambiguous that we call these fairy tale stories? They said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?" He said, "That in which my Lord has established me is better [than what you offer], but assist me with strength; I will make between you and them a dam. Bring me sheets of iron" - until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls, he said, "Blow [with bellows]," until when he had made it [like] fire, he said, "Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper." So Gog and Magog were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration. [Dhul-Qarnayn] said, "This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord comes, He will make it level, and ever is the promise of my Lord true." ( Quran chapter 18: 94-98) This is also mentioned is Syrah al anbiya Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend. ( Quran chapter 21:96) What about Sahih Hadith? Zaynab Bint Jahsh may Allah be pleased with her, said: "... Allah's Messenger, salallaahu alayhi wa sallam, once awoke from such a sleep that his face was red and these words were on his tongue: 'There is none worthy of worship except Allah. Destruction is upon the Arabs on account of the evil which has come close to them. Today a hole as big as this has opened up in the wall of Ya'jooj and Ma'jooj. (He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) indicated the size of the hole by forming a ring with his index finger and thumb." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that: "Every day Ya'jooj and Ma'jooj break (dig) through the wall erected by Thul-Qarnayn until they reach the end of it, to that extent that they can actually see the light on the other side. They then return (home) saying that 'We will resume tomorrow.' But Allah Almighty causes the wall to return to its original thickness, and the next day they start digging through the wall all over again. This process continues each day until as long as Allah Wills them to remain imprisoned. When Allah Wills them to be released, then at the end of the day they will say, "If Allah Wills, tomorrow we will break through." The following day they will find the wall as they had left it the previous day (i.e. it will not have returned to its original state) and after breaking the remaining part of it they will emerge." [Ahmad, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Majah] This scholar has denied verses in Quran and Sahih Hadith. It is really sad that he thinks he is the only one who understood Islam and by interpreting the religion in his own way he is doing a good service to save the faith of those who question revealed message from Allah. One should know that guidance comes from Allah and people who have doubts will leave Islam anyways and one should represent Islam the way it is, and not twist the verses and hadiths to represent something which has nothing to do with Islam. People do make mistakes and I thing this brother made a mistake too. Please delete this video and repent for what you have done to misguide so many people who rely on you to interpret islam for them. Many ex Muslims and non Muslims will use this video to validate their points and propagate against Quran and Sahih hadiths. Don’t be a source of bad sadqa jariya. This is also a lesson for us. People who think they have strong faith and know everything shall continuously ask for guidance and shall humble themselves to ask for forgiveness for anything which may lead us to have doubts in Islam. Islam is the biggest blessing we have in our lives and Alhamdulillah that Allah helped me to believe in whatever Quran and Sahih hadiths say. And when it is said to them (hypocrites): "Believe as the people (followers of Muhammad Peace be upon him , Al-Ansar and Al-Muhajirun) have believed," they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not. 14. And when they meet those who believe, they say: "We believe," but when they are alone with their Shayatin (devils - polytheists, hypocrites, etc.), they say: "Truly, we are with you; verily, we were but mocking." 15. Allah mocks at them and gives them increase in their wrong-doings to wander blindly. 16. These are they who have purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless. And they were not guided. 17. Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness. (So) they could not see. 18. They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right Path).
This is a very acedemic discussion. Shaykh is not doubting Quraan and Hadith. Listen again to him and analyze what he is saying. The shaykh eventually tells us to believe and leave it up to Allah, he said "when it happens it will Eventually make sense". So i don't understand these people who keep saying he's misguided. He is clearly more educating than most sheikhs out there.
I'm actually really sad on hearing this from this big of a Shaykh. He claims that a lot of Muslims are leaving the deen because of these "tales" but the thing is, now if your faith was already weak, it will make you weak even more and nauduthbillah even doubt and leave Islam because of this. The answer is in the same surah, verse 22 for those who claim to Know or speculate about the FACTS that they have know knowledge of. Some will say concerning them: "They were three and their dog, the fourth"; and some will say: "They were five, and their dog, the sixth" - all this being merely guesswork; and still others will say: "They were seven, and their dog, the eighth." Say: "My Lord knows their number best. Only a few know their correct number. So do not dispute concerning their number, but stick to what is evident, and do not question anyone about them."
There is such a big hub bub about Shaykhs analysis of Yajoog and Majoog up to today. Yet his explanation is so simple. What a loss to those who uses a fine toothcomb to take out faults when they could have benefitted tremendously from these talks. How often I am told to be careful as he is not a traditional scholar. Whatever that means. I love the fact that he understands we have an inquisitive mind and he does not just expect us to accept whatever he says without substantiating it or explaining his point of view rationally and heck I wonder if there is anyone he led astray as these critiques seem to say. Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers the fire of Hell, wherein they will abide eternally. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has cursed them, and for them is an enduring punishment. [You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers.

These are guided by their Lord; these are the winners.

Even if it means that we are saying something that our previous generation of scholars did not say, (having the light of modern science) I don't have a problem with that." ulama should be like imam malik ..if he does not know he just kept silent, and that is better than to try to explain something without full knowledge in order just to oppose other fellow ulama...just to show that you know every subject.
It is the job of the ulema to explain things. He spoke of what he learned and explained that that was his opinion where he was allowed to do so. And perhaps you should take your own advice because I have never heard of any story where the great imam ever speaking ill of someone else.

We have a problem in our deen whenever any scholar said something contrary to our thinking and believe we go nut and want to pick fault it better to hold another opinion different from the scholar it is the igtihad of the scholar. U can have a opinion different from his. Whether u accept his igtihad or not Allah will bless him and give him his barakah and reward as long as he is sincere. May Allah not render useless the effort of sheik yasir qadhi(the Arrow of knowledge and the gift of the ummah)
Just noticed people are attacking him and I am completely lost as to why... There is nothing wrong with asking question or trying to understand a topic. If the scholars ran with the philosophy of the masses, we will still be reading Quran from stones and leaf paper or something. Huge amount of effort went into gathering these info and analyzing them through out the history. As long as you are not directly contradicting Quran, there is no crime. And we follow Hadith but hadith are collected and accepted with a pretty complex process. That's why the idea of authentic and not so authentic hadith exists. When there is clear contradictions, questioning it's authenticity is necessary. Also, through out the series he mentioned many many times, end of time hadith and predictions are cryptic and they are hard to translate. People get riled up so easily just by seeing a Scholar break a topic apart and analyze. He broke no principal and clearly explained his thought process and didn't contradict Quran at any point...

Shame on everyone questioning Yasir Qadhi's Islam and imaan... he didn't say he rejects the quran or sahih hadith regarding Yajuj and Majuj. People are so quick to jump the gun and question's someone's imaan when they may disagree on something. This is the behaviour of the Kharijites and Isis. you are allowed to have differing views in Islam. He never once said he rejects Quran or Sunnah.

It is mentioned in the Quran that (18:98) Dhu al-Qarnayn said: "This is a mercy from my Lord: but when the time of my Lord's promise shall come, He will level this wall with the ground.71 My Lord's promise always comes true."72 18:99) And on that Day We shall let some of them surge like waves against others, and the Trumpet shall be blown. Then We shall gather them all together. This clearly is a proof that there is a physical wall there and that when time will come Allah will demolish this wall and yajuj and majuj will come out. Alhamdulliah Great , my view is When the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him,travel from Mecca to Jerusalem and to the 7th heaven and he come back he did everything in a split of a second whereby even the warmest of the place he get up was there,thus they can be in a place where by the Time did not excits there,and they can be in this world but in a 4th dimension,and we don't have the current modern science to explain to us now,but inn Shaa Allah maybe in the future,that's my opinion only.....

Very interesting topic. Each speaker / scholar has some unique interpretation. This was one of the better attempts. After spending years reading and listening on this topic My opinion is a very simple one. Extra natural /miracles exist. That's how the moon was split. There is no scholar who has the guts to prove that incident metaphorically so why must everyone try to prove sun rising from the west or dajjal or yajuj majuj metaphorically? It can very well be that they exist but Allah has hidden them because they have a specific purpose at a given time
There were always unnatural events and miracles during most Prophet's times. And while Isa aslm there can be again. What's hard to believe in that? It's ironic that the people kept asking Prophet's for miracles which thy did with permission of Allah and later generations some get annoyed with the stories of those miracles looking everything thru the eyes of science. there are two other interpretations that i have heard concerning Ya'juj And Ma'juj. 1. that they were a people behind a wall and eventually broke out and are common people today and will eventually become a nation during the end of times. 2. that when Allah(s.w.t) allowed the wall to be built, and in the one narration be constantly repaired by the angel, Allah(s.w.t) put the wall and Ya'juj And Ma'juj into the realm of the jinn or the realm of the unseen until when they will be released and enter this plane of existence. anyone else have any thoughts on these?

Zaynab bint Jahsh said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, will we be destroyed even though there are righteous people among us?’ He said, ‘Yes, if evil becomes overwhelming.’” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 3097).
Many scholars without authentic references narrate ahadiths and misguide Muslims who don't have knowledge of the holy Quran and make effort to attend such gatherings to get knowledge trusting them , my sincere advice to them is to read the Holy Quran with meanings and interpretation of Ibn khatir or Maudoodi and 6 authentic books of Ahadiths and ponder upon the few beging verses of Surah Baqra where in Allah said: In this book there are 2 kind of verses: Ahkamat & Mutashabat, one who tries to do research on Mutashabat will go out of Islam, just follow the Commands of Allah and his messenger.
حَتَّىٰۤ إِذَا بَلَغَ بَیۡنَ ٱلسَّدَّیۡنِ وَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمَا قَوۡمࣰا لَّا یَكَادُونَ یَفۡقَهُونَ قَوۡلࣰا) [Surat Al-Kahf 93] Muhsin Khan and Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali Until, when he reached between two mountains, he found, before (near) them (those two mountains), a people who scarcely understood a word. My two cents about this lecture from Sheikh Yasir Qadhi. To me it was mysterious that a Sheikh of his caliber didn't go in details about Surah Al-Anbiya Ayat: 95-96. I don't believe he doesn't know about those Ayats... Anyone who wants to understand what I meant, read those ayats yourselves and listen to this lecture again. Doesn't it sound like he just skips The Most Authentic Texts (about Gog/Magog) whereas he focuses a lot about clarifying even the dai'f hadith literature ? Why is that ? To my humble opinion, Surah Al-Kahf leads us to the location of Yajuj/Majuj and Surah Al-Anbiya points us to the time when they will appear. As a Muslim we believe in every words our prophet (SAW) said but problem is his words are not incorruptible. And if I were Yajuj/Majuj I would first conceal my true identity so that people wont recognize me. As they must know that the truth is in Allah's word and His messengers words.. The first source they can't corrupt but the second they could and what they did. However, as the truth is still there (Al-Quran) they should do something so that people don't take knowledge from that source as a primary source anymore... That is what we see now a days everywhere... We recite Quran but when talk about knowledge about something, our primary source is usually Hadiths.. The last point about the claim related to Ya'juj wa Ma'juj > for the arguments sake I agree what he says about Zombies, it ticks most of the check marks about the description but missing one major point.. How come brainless Zombies are being punished by Allah (SWT) when they are not into right state of mind!

I agree dismissing Sheik Imran Hosein is arrogant, but saying he is the ONLY scholar that makes sense, is pretty critical of every single other scholar of our time. As Muslims we should be careful of being so critical and to follow more then 1 scholar, bc they all make mistakes
His reputation of Ya'juj and Ma'juj is at 52:45-55:20 And his complete statement (I transcribe it) is: "Obviously, dare I say, anybody who knows science, geography, and modern civilization- you cannot believe there is a tribe, for 4,000 years, trapt behind a wall. I mean, if you believe this, ya'ani, that's your position. I cannot believe it. I'm just being ho- I cannot- I find this difficult to believe." 54:52-55:12
I appreciate Shaykh's intention of saving this generation from doubting Islam. However, in my study of politics (and I understand this isn't politics, but imo it applies here), I have learned that the number one rule to remember when appealing to the masses is to 1. Never alienate your base, and 2. Try to reach out to that middle crowd while upholding #1. I sometimes feel that this need to "protect" a specific generation from doubting Islam can sometimes be detrimental in that it alienates the base (committed and practicing Muslims who want to attain more knowledge). I also believe that if this specific generation is willing to doubt the religion just because of minor unclear matters that are open for interpretation, one lecture like this won't persuade them- they may be deaf, dumb, and blind.
After listening to the sheik regarding Gog and Magog, there is still one possibility that i do not see that has been taken into consideration and it puzzles me: The one where Muslims might be a complete minority and quite few in numbers. I do take into considerations the following narrations into consideration: 1. That the lake will be emptied by their sheer number. But time has not been mentioned. How long they are going to take to empty it. Also, if the lake will be full to start with 2. For every 1000, 999 will be themselves and only one muslim. These numbers will not be very significant if Muslims are few in quantities. 3. I'sa R.A will take the believers and hide in cave on the Mountain. How big is the cave and how many people it will accommodate? 4. The land will be covered with their bodies and people will thrive from the nourishment of the soil from their corpses. Basically, no survivors will be there except the believers in the cave. So basically, if we are saying Muslims in the cave are few thousands. That means that Gog and Magog will only be in Millions and that them being somewhere that has not been discovered yet or they have not yet reached the numbers that have been spoken in the time we are living in might be plausible. Grateful if we could get some light on this opinion and of course, Allah knows Best.
Your supposition is wrong. It is on the day of judgement that it was referring that for every one thousand of the ummah of rasool s.a.w. sent to jahannum that 999 will be yajuj majuj. That explicitly means the whole ummah and not in reference to the end of times. It is a folly to estimate how many Muslims will survive with ISA a.s. Until the time comes, no one will know and this information is not even relavent.
I swear by Allaah, Yajuj Majuj are the world population of today under the rule of the United Nations except one who hates it from the heart. The UN=Yajuuj Majuuj, Allaah knows best!

I don't see problems in saying, he is just being critical thinker which I really like, and he is not refusing any Quran or Sunnah. And he is not inventing anything also, may Allah protect us forgive us. Allah knows best. But yeah, I would still stand on that point that, Allah is the creator of everything, and He can do anything beyond our calculations. And Qur'an is written for all people, many are not even educated enough to have critical thinking. And so, what Qur'an most easily says it what we believe, and it is that they are still trapped, if this is wrong may Allah forgive us all for believing (perceiving) the same. Allah knows best always.

May Allah reward Dr Yasir for his best of deeds and pardon his mistakes.I can understand the Dr view regarding reports from the Jewish and Christian source or views of Islamic luminaries that he views not to be adequately supported by the primary Islamic sources-Qur'an and authentic hadeeth. I also appreciate his concern for the young Muslims losing their faith for the doubts thrown at them by the devils-men and jinns. However,his view of "rethinking,critical of our traditions,etc" is not the real solution to the challenges facing such Muslim youths.And this is based on my experience dealing with youths.My proposal is to educate the Muslim masses in the "evidences of the truth of Allaah's Messenger's claim of prophethood-sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam. Meanwhile,why doesn't Dr Yasir think that Allaah could keep the ya'juj and ma'juj away from our sights.Remember the hadeeth that mentioned an angel involved in their affairs that tells them to go and come the following day till the point in time when they will finally come out of the wall.
I have been following the Shaykh and listening to his lectures and I like his detailed analysis of these topics which is very interesting to hear. However, in my opinion I do not agree with both of the solutions presented to solve the conundrum about the living Ya'juj and Ma'juj population. These do not fully go along with the Quranic verses and actually raise more questions. For example if the Gog and Magog are people that will come later then why they will not fight against the humans in the final battles. Because the narrations mention they will be released after the battle of Esa A.S with Dajjal. Where these tribes will be during those wars? Further what does Quran mean in Surah Ambiya verse 96 that Gog and Magog will be opened and descend from every elevation? This means they will be trapped somewhere and the previous verses of Surah Kahf is the most befitting explanation of what would be that thing from which they will be opened. It makes more sense to think from Quranic verses that the barrier is the wall that Dhul Qarnain built by the will of Allah. Regarding the issue of how it is possible that they exist and we cannot see them, it is not necessary that we have to have any interaction with them. The Quran is filled with such miraculous stories such the Ashab e Kahf where Allah S.W.T hid those people for 300 years. We do not see the Jinns but we believe in them. If we follow this road this will cause more problems. If young people cannot grasp these basic concepts they definitely cannot understand other things in Islam. For example how can we prove the heaven and hell exist. We cannot we just have to believe. Similar there are some things that our human mind cannot grasp because of our limited knowledge and we have to believe in the mightiness of Allah S.W.T and leave it to it. It is a miracle of God that will show up at the right time and truth will be revealed to the naysayers. Having said that I have disappointingly observed that many people are doubting the intentions of the Shaykh on his opinion. He clearly said the part which is mentioned in the Quran is correct beyond any doubt. So do the narrations in the Ahadiths which are authentic. It is the combined interpretation of these verses and ahadiths in which you can have a difference of opinion which is nothing wrong to do. He is not contradicting Quran nor Sahih Hadith, he is just giving an opinion regarding their combined interpretation, which is what the Ulemas do and its their job. There is nothing wrong in it and he is not preaching anything against Islam. I am afraid to observe such hatred in the comments of some people. Please be tolerant and learn to grasp these issues in an educated manner. As I have said I do not agree with his opinion on this issue but that does not mean everything else he said is also wrong. May Allah Guide us all.

I strongly disagree with YQ giving public lectures where he references a mystery 'friend' as a source of interpreting hadith. This is not how a scholar or a Iman behaves when teaching the Muslim community. Personally theories which have no real religious backing should be left behind closed doors as private. Additionally he is almost laughing at one stage, first time i'm seeing this behaviour. Very interesting lecture leaving me to ponder about many things. For example Muslims cannot kill yajooj majooj and hadith also states that Muslim cannot be defeated by an external group. This leads me to hypothesize that when isa (as) takes shelter in the cave with his Muslim companions, these will be the only Muslims left alive in the world because everything else will be destroyed or killed. If this can be the case then please shaykh yasir explain to me how the Muslims rebuild their population so quickly when hadith also states that yajooj majooj is referred to the point when a woman is about to go into labour and that yawmul kiyahma is a blink away. Please forgive me if I'm asking pointless questions, but the scenario you left at the end of the lecture has left a lot of unanswered questions for me. Subhana'Allah, reading this also makes me ponder. Just imagine 300-400 years after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) passed away, and most minor signs did not come at that time, and Muslims at that time still had to believe those signs mentioned in hadiths. Now, most minor signs have come true, and there are still some minor signs that haven't been met. You can see that the Day of Judgement is getting closer as the time goes by, and only Allah knows best - maybe everything will be a click just around the corner....

I think imran hosein solves 2 or 3 mistress. I firmly believe his theories. If the story of yajuj wa majuj is problematic, then the trials which befell the people of firaun are also "problematic" as is the people of the cave themselves surviving without food and water. You misunderstood Yasir Qadhi. There's nothing in the tradition actually stating Yajuj and Majuj (trillions of people) have been locked away behind a massive wall for thousands of years, it's just the mainstream understanding a few hadith, some weak ones and some stories that People took from the Bank Israel and threw the label of Islam on it.
The people of Firaun and the people of the cave are actual stories from the tradition which we have to accept because it's clearly stated in the Quran and Sunnah. That's the difference.
I understand Yasir Qadhi position I might not fully agree but I completely understand it.
They are all problematic in some sense but it could be argued that they were miracles of God that have happened and ended in the past and we would have no way to prove or disprove of their occurrence today. However, the story of Yajuj and Majuj is a continuous story that spans through our time today until judgement day, that means that as we write to eachother right now, supposedly, there are a tribe consisting of many billions of people hidden behind a giant wall somewhere on earth trying to dig themselves out daily. This is a falsifiable claim as we are able to examine it ourselves by looking at the earth and trying to find this wall and that tribe of people behind it. And since we have thus far not found such things even though we have mapped and explored the entire plannet very meticulously in the past few hundred years, then here rises a much more problematic situation.
I hope now you understand why the story of Yajuj and Majuj is much more problematic than most other stories in Islamic tradition.

Quran says:
On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.
The hypocrites will call to the believers, "Were we not with you?" They will say, "Yes, but you afflicted yourselves and awaited [misfortune for us] and doubted, and wishful thinking deluded you until there came the command of Allah . And the Deceiver deceived you concerning Allah . ( Quran Chapter 57:13-14)
Quran also tells that believers don’t doubt even on the things where Quran is not clear. The people who doubt on verses in Quran are those who are deviants.
It is He who has sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Book; in it are verses [that are] precise - they are the foundation of the Book - and others unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation [from truth], they will follow that of it which is unspecific, seeking discord and seeking an interpretation [suitable to them]. And no one knows its [true] interpretation except Allah . But those firm in knowledge say, "We believe in it. All [of it] is from our Lord." And no one will be reminded except those of understanding. ( chapter 3:7)
What about Y’ajooj and M’aajooj in Quran. Is this really that ambiguous that we call these fairy tale stories?
They said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, indeed Gog and Magog are [great] corrupters in the land. So may we assign for you an expenditure that you might make between us and them a barrier?" He said, "That in which my Lord has established me is better [than what you offer], but assist me with strength; I will make between you and them a dam. Bring me sheets of iron" - until, when he had leveled [them] between the two mountain walls, he said, "Blow [with bellows]," until when he had made it [like] fire, he said, "Bring me, that I may pour over it molten copper." So Gog and Magog were unable to pass over it, nor were they able [to effect] in it any penetration. [Dhul-Qarnayn] said, "This is a mercy from my Lord; but when the promise of my Lord comes, He will make it level, and ever is the promise of my Lord true." ( Quran chapter 18: 94-98)

What about Sahih Hadith?
Zaynab Bint Jahsh may Allah be pleased with her, said: "... Allah's Messenger, salallaahu alayhi wa sallam, once awoke from such a sleep that his face was red and these words were on his tongue: 'There is none worthy of worship except Allah. Destruction is upon the Arabs on account of the evil which has come close to them. Today a hole as big as this has opened up in the wall of Ya'jooj and Ma'jooj. (He sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) indicated the size of the hole by forming a ring with his index finger and thumb." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that: "Every day Ya'jooj and Ma'jooj break (dig) through the wall erected by Thul-Qarnayn until they reach the end of it, to that extent that they can actually see the light on the other side. They then return (home) saying that 'We will resume tomorrow.' But Allah Almighty causes the wall to return to its original thickness, and the next day they start digging through the wall all over again. This process continues each day until as long as Allah Wills them to remain imprisoned. When Allah Wills them to be released, then at the end of the day they will say, "If Allah Wills, tomorrow we will break through." The following day they will find the wall as they had left it the previous day (i.e. it will not have returned to its original state) and after breaking the remaining part of it they will emerge." [Ahmad, At-Tirmithi and Ibn Majah]
This scholar has denied verses in Quran and Sahih Hadith. It is really sad that he thinks he is the only one who understood Islam and by interpreting the religion in his own way he is doing a good service to save the faith of those who question revealed message from Allah. One should know that guidance comes from Allah and people who have doubts will leave Islam anyways and one should represent Islam the way it is, and not twist the verses and hadiths to represent something which has nothing to do with Islam. People do make mistakes and I thing this brother made a mistake too. Please delete this video and repent for what you have done to misguide so many people who rely on you to interpret islam for them. Many ex Muslims and non Muslims will use this video to validate their points and propagate against Quran and Sahih hadiths. Don’t be a source of bad sadqa jariya.
This is also a lesson for us. People who think they have strong faith and know everything shall continuously ask for guidance and shall humble themselves to ask for forgiveness for anything which may lead us to have doubts in Islam.
Islam is the biggest blessing we have in our lives and Alhamdulillah that Allah helped me to believe in whatever Quran and Sahih hadiths say. I believe in it whether it makes sense or not because I know Allah knows everything and I have no knowledge except what has been taught by Allah’s will.

they say: "Shall we believe as the fools have believed?" Verily, they are the fools, but they know not.

15. Allah mocks at them and gives them increase in their wrong-doings to wander blindly.
16. These are they who have purchased error for guidance, so their commerce was profitless. And they were not guided.
17. Their likeness is as the likeness of one who kindled a fire; then, when it lighted all around him, Allah took away their light and left them in darkness.
(So) they could not see.
18. They are deaf, dumb, and blind, so they return not (to the Right Path).

There is nothing wrong with asking question or trying to understand a topic. If the scholars ran with the philosophy of the masses, we will still be reading Quran from stones and leaf paper or something. Huge amount of effort went into gathering these info and analyzing them through out the history.
As long as you are not directly contradicting Quran, there is no crime. And we follow Hadith but hadith are collected and accepted with a pretty complex process. That's why the idea of authentic and not so authentic hadith exists. When there is clear contradictions, questioning it's authenticity is necessary. Also, through out the series he mentioned many many times, end of time hadith and predictions are cryptic and they are hard to translate.
People get riled up so easily just by seeing a Scholar break a topic apart and analyze. He broke no principal and clearly explained his thought process and didn't contradict Quran at any point...

18:99) And on that Day We shall let some of them surge like waves against others, and the Trumpet shall be blown. Then We shall gather them all together.
This clearly is a proof that there is a physical wall there and that when time will come Allah will demolish this wall and yajuj and majuj will come out.

It is very interesting that when some people tries to make a connection between Abu Hurairah RA and Kaab Al Ahbar about Riwayaat related to second coming of Jesus, the Sheikh called them innovators in Islam.
Very interesting topic. Each speaker / scholar has some unique interpretation. This was one of the better attempts. After spending years reading and listening on this topic My opinion is a very simple one. Extra natural /miracles exist. That's how the moon was split. There is no scholar who has the guts to prove that incident metaphorically so why must everyone try to prove sun rising from the west or dajjal or yajuj majuj metaphorically? It can very well be that they exist but Allah has hidden them because they have a specific purpose at a given time
There were always unnatural events and miracles during most Prophet's times. And while Isa aslm there can be again. What's hard to believe in that? there are two other interpretations that i have heard concerning Ya'juj And Ma'juj.
1. that they were a people behind a wall and eventually broke out and are common people today and will eventually become a nation during the end of times.
2. that when Allah(s.w.t) allowed the wall to be built, and in the one narration be constantly repaired by the angel, Allah(s.w.t) put the wall and Ya'juj And Ma'juj into the realm of the jinn or the realm of the unseen until when they will be released and enter this plane of existence.

There is a hadith that says that the wall was cracked during the life time of the prophet, so it is possible that they have broken out by now.

Many scholars without authentic references narrate ahadiths and misguide Muslims who don't have knowledge of the holy Quran and make effort to attend such gatherings to get knowledge trusting them , my sincere advice
to them is to read the Holy Quran with meanings and interpretation of Ibn khatir or Maudoodi and 6 authentic books of Ahadiths and ponder upon the few beging verses of Surah Baqra where in Allah said:

My two cents about this lecture from Sheikh Yasir Qadhi. To me it was mysterious that a Sheikh of his caliber didn't go in details about Surah Al-Anbiya Ayat: 95-96. I don't believe he doesn't know about those Ayats... Anyone who wants to understand what I meant, read those ayats yourselves and listen to this lecture again. Doesn't it sound like he just skips The Most Authentic Texts (about Gog/Magog) whereas he focuses a lot about clarifying even the dai'f hadith literature ? Why is that ? To my humble opinion, Surah Al-Kahf leads us to the location of Yajuj/Majuj and Surah Al-Anbiya points us to the time when they will appear. As a Muslim we believe in every words our prophet (SAW) said but problem is his words are not incorruptible. And if I were Yajuj/Majuj I would first conceal my true identity so that people wont recognize me. As they must know that the truth is in Allah's word and His messengers words.. The first source they can't corrupt but the second they could and what they did. However, as the truth is still there (Al-Quran) they should do something so that people don't take knowledge from that source as a primary source anymore... That is what we see now a days everywhere... We recite Quran but when talk about knowledge about something, our primary source is usually Hadiths.. The last point about the claim related to Ya'juj wa Ma'juj > for the arguments sake I agree what he says about Zombies, it ticks most of the check marks about the description but missing one major point.. How come brainless Zombies are being punished by Allah (SWT) when they are not into right state of mind!

I appreciate Shaykh's intention of saving this generation from doubting Islam. However, in my study of politics (and I understand this isn't politics, but imo it applies here), I have learned that the number one rule to remember when appealing to the masses is to 1. Never alienate your base, and 2. Try to reach out to that middle crowd while upholding #1. I sometimes feel that this need to "protect" a specific generation from doubting Islam can sometimes be detrimental in that it alienates the base (committed and practicing Muslims who want to attain more knowledge). I also believe that if this specific generation is willing to doubt the religion just because of minor unclear matters that are open for interpretation, one lecture like this won't persuade them- they may be deaf, dumb, and blind.

After listening to the sheik regarding Gog and Magog, there is still one possibility that i do not see that has been taken into consideration and it puzzles me:
The one where Muslims might be a complete minority and quite few in numbers.
I do take into considerations the following narrations into consideration:
1. That the lake will be emptied by their sheer number. But time has not been mentioned. How long they are going to take to empty it. Also, if the lake will be full to start with
2. For every 1000, 999 will be themselves and only one muslim. These numbers will not be very significant if Muslims are few in quantities.
3. I'sa R.A will take the believers and hide in cave on the Mountain. How big is the cave and how many people it will accommodate?
4. The land will be covered with their bodies and people will thrive from the nourishment of the soil from their corpses. Basically, no survivors will be there except the believers in the cave.
So basically, if we are saying Muslims in the cave are few thousands. That means that Gog and Magog will only be in Millions and that them being somewhere that has not been discovered yet or they have not yet reached the numbers that have been spoken in the time we are living in might be plausible.

Your supposition is wrong. It is on the day of judgement that it was referring that for every one thousand of the ummah of rasool s.a.w. sent to jahannum that 999 will be yajuj majuj. That explicitly means the whole ummah and not in reference to the end of times.
It is a folly to estimate how many Muslims will survive with ISA a.s. Until the time comes, no one will know and this information is not even relavent.

And Qur'an is written for all people, many are not even educated enough to have critical thinking. Alhamdulillah, what a great explaination and the last answer make sense. Now i can explain to my kids about Yakjuj & Makjuj.
May Allah reward Dr Yasir for his best of deeds and pardon his mistakes.I can understand the Dr view regarding reports from the Jewish and Christian source or views of Islamic luminaries that he views not to be adequately supported by the primary Islamic sources-Qur'an and authentic hadeeth.
I also appreciate his concern for the young Muslims losing their faith for the doubts thrown at them by the devils-men and jinns.
However,his view of "rethinking,critical of our traditions,etc" is not the real solution to the challenges facing such Muslim youths.And this is based on my experience dealing with youths.My proposal is to educate the Muslim masses in the "evidences of the truth of Allaah's Messenger's claim of prophethood-sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam.
Meanwhile,why doesn't Dr Yasir think that Allaah could keep the ya'juj and ma'juj away from our sights.Remember the hadeeth that mentioned an angel involved in their affairs that tells them to go and come the following day till the point in time when they will finally come out of the wall.
I have been following the Shaykh and listening to his lectures and I like his detailed analysis of these topics which is very interesting to hear. However, in my opinion I do not agree with both of the solutions presented to solve the conundrum about the living Ya'juj and Ma'juj population. These do not fully go along with the Quranic verses and actually raise more questions. For example if the Gog and Magog are people that will come later then why they will not fight against the humans in the final battles. Because the narrations mention they will be released after the battle of Esa A.S with Dajjal. Where these tribes will be during those wars? Further what does Quran mean in Surah Ambiya verse 96 that Gog and Magog will be opened and descend from every elevation? This means they will be trapped somewhere and the previous verses of Surah Kahf is the most befitting explanation of what would be that thing from which they will be opened. It makes more sense to think from Quranic verses that the barrier is the wall that Dhul Qarnain built by the will of Allah. Regarding the issue of how it is possible that they exist and we cannot see them, it is not necessary that we have to have any interaction with them. The Quran is filled with such miraculous stories such the Ashab e Kahf where Allah S.W.T hid those people for 300 years. We do not see the Jinns but we believe in them. If we follow this road this will cause more problems. If young people cannot grasp these basic concepts they definitely cannot understand other things in Islam. For example how can we prove the heaven and hell exist. We cannot we just have to believe. Similar there are some things that our human mind cannot grasp because of our limited knowledge and we have to believe in the mightiness of Allah S.W.T and leave it to it. It is a miracle of God that will show up at the right time and truth will be revealed to the naysayers.
Having said that I have disappointingly observed that many people are doubting the intentions of the Shaykh on his opinion. He clearly said the part which is mentioned in the Quran is correct beyond any doubt. So do the narrations in the Ahadiths which are authentic. It is the combined interpretation of these verses and ahadiths in which you can have a difference of opinion which is nothing wrong to do. He is not contradicting Quran nor Sahih Hadith, he is just giving an opinion regarding their combined interpretation, which is what the Ulemas do and its their job. There is nothing wrong in it and he is not preaching anything against Islam. I am afraid to observe such hatred in the comments of some people. Please be tolerant and learn to grasp these issues in an educated manner. As I have said I do not agree with his opinion on this issue but that does not mean everything else he said is also wrong. May Allah Guide us all.

I strongly disagree with YQ giving public lectures where he references a mystery 'friend' as a source of interpreting hadith. This is not how a scholar or a Iman behaves when teaching the Muslim community. Personally theories which have no real religious backing should be left behind closed doors as private. Additionally he is almost laughing at one stage, first time i'm seeing this behaviour. If you don't believe in the hadith because you think its been taken from banu Israel then just state so and move on. Why make random movie like theories and joke about it and that too public. Not good.

Very interesting lecture leaving me to ponder about many things. For example Muslims cannot kill yajooj majooj and hadith also states that Muslim cannot be defeated by an external group. This leads me to hypothesize that when isa (as) takes shelter in the cave with his Muslim companions, these will be the only Muslims left alive in the world because everything else will be destroyed or killed. If this can be the case then please shaykh yasir explain to me how the Muslims rebuild their population so quickly when hadith also states that yajooj majooj is referred to the point when a woman is about to go into labour and that yawmul kiyahma is a blink away. Please forgive me if I'm asking pointless questions, but the scenario you left at the end of the lecture has left a lot of unanswered questions for me. Subhana'Allah, reading this also makes me ponder. Just imagine 300-400 years after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) passed away, and most minor signs did not come at that time, and Muslims at that time still had to believe those signs mentioned in hadiths.
Now, most minor signs have come true, and there are still some minor signs that haven't been met. You can see that the Day of Judgement is getting closer as the time goes by, and only Allah knows best - maybe everything will be a click just around the corner....
I appreciate the Sheikh but he did left us kinda of hinging. But sheikh Imran Hosein tackles this issue on head in my opinion.
Farid Adam may be sheikh Imran Hosein can shed some light on the subject of Gog and Magog he's interpretation makes more sense you can start by reading his book on Jerusalem in the Qur'an or listening to his lectures.

You will see he only used some hadiths and compare to Sheikhs Yasir lectures, if we put all hadiths together, we able to see clear picture about end of time. For example, Imram dont use hadith about birth of dajjal from human parents, his human description, etc the are so many.

I think imran hosein solves 2 or 3 mistress. I firmly believe his theories. One gog and Magog are within Europe/western civilizations, the people who descended on every slope or high places( ie who colonies every inch of the globe are Europeans) and people or civilization who will brought some of their own to holy land as converts of Jews are gog and Magog. The will have carbon copies of themselves through democracy, foreign policy, monetary systems and their ungodly ways of life. For analogy I want to remind you through Prophet Noah PBUH while he’s building the boat for great flood people were smiling and saying is there any water why they’re building the boat. So understand when punishment comes it’s inexplicable for people to understand. So as the water from great flood cover the whole world and come from sky similarly Yajuj Majuj as punishment will cover the world and most probably they could be in trillions.

The Quran and Hadith is clear and it will not be revealed in a manner that it will be misunderstood for 1400 years . It is not possible for God to mislead his followers and the best and most pious scholars for 1400 Years and even the most respected scholars of the 21st century.
The holy Quran is perfectly rational and logical.
Your argument that things that have been understood by consensus and established by majority of scholars may be irrational or illogical is damaging to muslims and this same argument is used by Hindus , and christians when we question their beliefs as well.
I am disappointed by Yasir Qadhi , He is validating the arguments of Ex muslims, apostates , Non Muslims and questioning the traditional authentic authorities of Islam. These stories are not known to the mainstream Muslim children and communities and now today their doubts will certainly increase.

There is a difference between ijtihad on subjects and taking what is a core belief in islam and questioning it. The core beliefs are not to be questioned. They are non negotiable. Like who Allah is. And that the Quran is the literal word of Allah. These core beliefs are not questionable.

You are asking about Yajuj Majuj but the Quran speaks of angels and djinn and the hereafter, all metaphysical ideas and concepts. Are you going to deny those too and say they are not literal? The Quran says they are true. Are you going to decide what Allah says is true and what isn't? Are you going to decide what is a metaphor and what is literal? Who has given you this authority? Ya'juj wa Ma'juj will swoop down until 'Isa Ibn Maryam ('aleyhi salam) and the Muslims with him seek refuge in the mountains, and the head of a bull will be dearer to them than 100 gold dinar is to us today. And then 'Isa will make du'a to Allah to help them. See the Hadith of An-Nawwas Ibn Sam'an (radhiAllahu 'anhu) in Saheeh Muslim about the Dajjaal (one eye antichrist).
