      I found it sad over the years that they dropped 16/10 for 16/9 because you feel you loose so much height, especially on a laptop. It is due to the cost of fabrication, but otherwise it's a big loss for any use. 3/2 is even better. For the work and everything else it's top comfort. Although they are very rare, and I don't think they have much compatibility for gaming, which is sad. Imagine a 3.2 28.3 screen with 3840*2460 resolution, the definition must be so beautifull to the eye.

    3:2 QHD is the best for anything mobile! 3:2 is the best compromise between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratio, and QHD is the best balance between FHD and 4K UHD display resolution. Of course, 16:10 may be better for Gaming Laptops for PC games that don't scale well with 3:2. I love my HP Spectre x360 14 laptop with a 3:2, QHD, OLED display, I don't mind black bars at all watching 21:9 widescreen movies.

    Thanks for this informative video. Personally, I can switch between 16:10 and 3:2 and I like both of them. I would go for a 16:9 if the screen was 15.6 or larger, but after using 14-inch screens with 16:10 and 3:2 it's quite difficult going back to a 13.3 inch with 16:9 screen because it feels tiny!

    I think 16:10 and 3:2 will raplace all Laptops with 16:9 in the near future. Almost all new Lenovo Notebooks will come with 16:10.
    16:9 is for multimedia consuming but also very important for desktop monitors because of big size.
    The 16:9 was just a marketing idea in mobile devices category (such as Notebook) for many years ago but today the consumers realize - this aspect ratio is not so comfortable to work, whriting, reading and browsing.

      Yep anything I go from my 16/10 to a 16/9, I feel like my head is being winzip. I feel almost like you have to compress yourself, you neck and shoulder. It's so unnatural. People did not really realise this on desktop as screen became cheaper and cheaper and you can afford a 24 or 27 inch screen for the price of a 19" back to few years ago. But when you compare side by side, a 24" 16/10 is as high as a 27" 16/9, which does not feel right. 16/9 should at minimum be 30" to feel comfortable. But still I prefer the 16/10 aspect ratio. 16/9 is too flatened.

    I agree, 3:2 is my favorite too. I use a surface book 2 15. By the way, JFY, a 16:9 video on a 15in laptop is a 14in video (note that a 15in screen is not a 15.6in screen, which is typicall a 16:9 size)

    • @cskillers1
      @cskillers1 3 роки тому +1

      most likely because it's maximum resolution is 3260x2160 which is most likely 3:2 , if you using the Recommended resolution on the desktop which is most likely 3:2 and trying to run a 16:9 video on it, then yes it will not be on full screen, you will need to convert the video to 3:2 first to have it on your fullscreen, that will however either stretch it or will make it longer, 1 of 2 , a way without stretching/making longer also exist but it's the "cut here and cut here" way, basically losing certain parts of the video, in other words just don't bother and use it as it is.

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy 3 роки тому

      @@cskillers1 the resolution is not important, it can be higher or lower, it’s the aspect ratio that matters, there is not much point in deforming a video just to fill the screen, what I was saying was just that in a 15in 3.2 display you will see a video which is 14in diagonal (so exactly the same size as a 14in 16.9)

    By the way, I used to avoid 3:2 screens because of the huge black bars you get when you watch videos. But with all honesty, you just get used to them, it's like watching a movie in the cinema. Also, on Netflix you will always get movies with different aspect ratios, so even if you have a 16:9 you will still get the black bars. But the 3:2 shines when it comes to productivity, it really makes a difference. And with the Huawei Matebook, you also have a QHD screen which makes everything looks sharper and nicer.

    Hello, im looking for a laptop to consume media when sitting in the hotel room in the evening after work. Im interested in the Slim 7 4700u version but there seem to be a slim 7 pro variant on the horizon with 16:10 display, 5600H prozessor and imroved cooling. do you think its worth to wait for it? Or is the 16:9 aspect ratio better anyway for browsing web, watching videos and palying some light games from time to time?
    Also im wondering how the slim 7 behaves when placed on a bed or a couch, blocking the airflow while playing a video for example.

    • @w2best
      @w2best  3 роки тому +1

      Consuming media is not so taxing. You won't need any beefy cpu for that so a 5600h or even 4700u is a bit of overkill! You can go i5 or 4500u to keep the price down. I think yoga slim 7 pro is great if you need the performance and the screen, but in your case i wouldn't be too bothered about it

    The comparison seems flawed as the Huawei laptop clearly uses higher resolution, since there are not only more rows in the spreadsheet visible, but also more columns. You should have set all laptops to the same horizontal resolution to show the height difference in applications (with scaling set to the same value in Windows)

    • @w2best

      That is true and I'm def not saying it's perfect and mention the different resulting several times. But I don't aim to show the exact number of lines so the principle still applies. :) It's the same windows scaling though.

    A good comparison. Be careful, your content is full of self-contradictions. You have associated high aspect ratio with high (tall) screen dimension or perhaps largest screen area. It is an easy mix-up to make. Your preferred 3:2 is the lowest aspect ratio in your comparison, not the highest. 16:9 = 1.7, 16:10 = 1.6, 3:2 = 1.5 It was very confusing for this listener trying to replace parts of the commentary with your intended meaning. Still, an informative video.

    computer screens started as 4 by 3, then the world went nuts about 10 years ago and manufactures started making this ridiculous wide screens where you can't see any vertical content.. God! They were even marketing it as a selling point "super wide screen" nonsense.. apps will then take some space from the top and bottom of the screen and you end up with 10 lines of document.. and when you put a vertical photo on a screen you find that's smaller than on an ipad. hah!! we're just rediscovering the wheel here but I'm glad manufacturers are getting some common sense back..
