3:2 only makes sense for tablets since it's shorter than 16:9 in Portrait mode when detached. You can use 16:9 in Portrait mode from any 2-in-1 comvertible laptop, but you can feel the height of it.
This is BRILLIANT. I have always been confused by aspect ratios, display resolutions, screen space etc and manufacturers dont make it easy. This is a simple explanation that hit the spot with me. Thank you
I know it's not easy with 3 laptops but the fact that they were not aligned and above all that the screens were not tilted backward at the same angle kind of distorts the perception of the aspect ratio (the more you tilt back the more it looks wide)
@@akhilalexg Yes! Agree! It's really weird to play game when the display is cut with the black bar, or even when doing the fullscreen of UA-cam videos :( That's why they choose it as sweet spot.

@Teoh sir can you do a video that if one of 16:10 or 3:2 screen size of laptop used with 16:9 inch screen size pen display? I think many people need to know if screen would be streched vertically or horizontally in matter of using two different screen sizes together (16:10 a laptop and 16:9 a wacom/Xp Pen)
But UA-cam & other videos in 16:9 or 18:9 and movie 21:9 aspect when watching movies you seen like watching in smartphone 😂, because then top and bottom bars are so bigger 3:2~13.5:9
Goodbye and good riddance to the 16: 9 aspect ratio. It looks like we’re finally starting to say goodbye to the 16: 9 aspect ratio and hello to 16: 10.
I took like what .. 50 years for people from this planet to realize the obvious. one side effect of 16:9 is also that you get worse keyboard. Manufacturers on 15+ inch laptops tend to add numeric keypad just because there's extra horizontal space.
sir, between a 16:9 2.8k 15.6inch and a 16:10 full hd 16 inch, which is more suitable for productivity? as 2.8k gives more real estate and 16:10 gives more vertical space so im kinda torn between these 2
When display size is small, aspect ratio is more important than resolution for productivity. I would personally go with 16:10 even if it's lower resolution.
Does the same rule applies for people working with split screen most of the time on laptops? I have been using 16:10 for most of my productivity work, but have not really tried a 3:2. I assume for tablets (mainly gaming and entertainment purposes in landscape), a 21:9 is the best?
Depends on the type of work you do. Two 16:9 displays will still be better than one 3:2 or 16:10 display. Then there's the issue of resolution. Does the monitor have enough resolution to place two windows side by side? A 21:9 display definitely can do so. A 16:10 and 16:9 display may be able to do so it it's large enough and the resolution is high enough. E.g. My LG Gram 16 (shown in video) is 16-inch 2560 x 1600. But I always use it with one app/window. My desktop monitor is 27-inch 2560 x 1440 and I always it with one app + another app beside/overlap. 3:2 aspect is most useful when display size is smaller. For larger displays, you can get more resolution to display more content so even a large and high res 16:9 display can show more vertical content compared to 16:10 or even 3:2, depending on the latter two's resolution of course.
I have been using my Samsung Chromebook Pro with its 3:2 screen for several years now. When I try to use a 16:9 laptop I instantly hate it! It seems so squatty and it's so crazy how much less I can see! If I want to watch a movie I watch it on my TV. My laptop is for web surfing, UA-cam, shopping, etc.
@@enoiseh for example on my 20:9 1600x720 samsung a21s if i stream 1920x1080 videos then i lose no extra detail because the video will get downscaled anyway plus i only lose 10% of the top & 10% of the bottom

Hello, Does connecting the 16:10 Laptop to 16:9 Monitor with HDMI cable or Display port makes any problems ? or should be the aspect ratio same for Laptop and monitor ? Thanks
No. The computer will automatically detect the resolution of the external monitor. Even if it does not do that, you can manually set the resolution you want.
one question, since you have laptops with all sizes and aspect ratios ..can you tell me how much closer my face should be to a 14 inch 2k 16:10 laptop to feel like its 15.6 inch fhd laptop? i know its weird question but reply will be appreciated🙃
tbh i prefer 16" laptops bigger aspect ratio and 16:10 should be a norm for laptops.. 17" are big to carry around 16" are kinda the sweetspot obviously depending the machine y carry around.
I've always hated 16:9 widescreen for my computers, that's why I'm still using a 16:10 laptop from 2010 (which in 2023 is still good enough for my home office work and video streaming). 16:9 becomes somewhat okay on a 27" fhd monitor, though even then I notice that some more vertical space would be preferable. 16:10 is still not ideal for a laptop, of course, and my next machine in a couple of years might very well be a 3:2 (if avaliable) which seems to be the best compromise between the old 3:2 and the now long common 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.
Yeah Right. In the 16" Models: Lenovo announced theirs almost a year ago and still nothing (not including the Think-pad line). Nothing from HP. Dell only has one and it has a dull matt screen. (not including XPS models) Microsoft Surface and Apple are why over priced ! Of course there is the LG Gram with weak Graphics.
@@akhilalexg that only applies if all you do with your pc is watch videos but for web and picture content, you have no black bars and no constant zooming in and out To view content that is too tall for a 16:9 display
I never understand why there are people who always say 16:9 is outdated and 3:2 is better as it's never always been the case. 16:9 still gives wider viewing than 3:2. By contrast, 3:2 is still cramped compared to 16:9, and that's before even mentioning about the black bars on the top and on the bottom when watching videos. The only reason why 3:2 is even a thing in the first place is because of convertibles and tablets. While 3:2 is still narrower than 16:9 in Landscape mode, 3:2 is shorter than 16:9 in Portrait mode. As for 16:10, that's basically the compromise of giving slightly taller screen in a 16:9 body, that's all.
It's not that 16:9 is outdated. 16:9 is more suited for watching shows and gaming. Given a FIXED width, 3:2 will give you more physical space and pixels compared to 16:10 and 16:9. 3:2 is also more usable when used in vertical orientation. I've often use a 16:9 tablet only to wish that it can be wider. In vertical mode, it's already tall, so I don't care about it being taller or shorter, but I wish it could be wider.
