Whoot, another Mushoku Monday is coming! Thank you Otaku Spirit for making these Awesome videos 😊. It will be interesting to see Rudy's first interaction with his grandmother. It will also be interesting seeing a pov (hopefully) Cliff's reunion with his grandfather the Pope. 😊 This is the 1st time I have seen 1 of these videos with the picture of Zenith on it. It's going funny when Pope and Claire realize their related now through there grandchildren.
I don't think we see that. Elinalise isn't there. It'll be a while before Cliff gets settled into the power structure of the church well enough to bring her there openly. And then would Cliff really bring that up? Oh, Grandfather, remember that bothersome mage I brought with me that one time? Would you believe he's married to my wife's granddaughter? So if you squint at it right you're kin in law to the Latria house!
@ericbunker6242 I do think it's going to happen eventually, not necessarily this book but 1 or 2 books down the line. I'm not sure how the Pope thinks about linages but noble people like to pay attention to the little details in bloodlines. Especially considering I think Claire was testing Rudy's character to see if he was good enough to care for Zeinth and Norn. 🤔 If so Claire will care about how Rudy's 1st wife is a granddaughter of Cliff Grimore's wife. So likely the next Pope's children are blood related to her.

Even with all the (inevitable, obviously) explanations...I still think Claire is irredeemable. Her example alone, even above the good examples of Cliff and Norn, makes me despise the "Millis" faith.
I'm pretty sure that Claire made an enemy of Rudeus for life and even though they might 'reconcile' in the future, he will forever remember how declared how she would treat Zenith then and there.
I can bet we will see those gauntlets with the stones of absorption Tallhand had to sell appear again, in an inconvenient time. Now, I'm a bit frustrated. Didn't Rufujin forced Rudeus to be a bit "slower" than he should about this whole situation with Claire? He was caught by surprise about everything. She should had asked Norn, Aisha and Lilia for more information. He should had thought more about what Claired wanted with her daughter and granddaughters. He should had investigated and be more well information about the factions and politics in Millishion. having neglected one of those things would be just a mistake, but neglecting everything? He also doesn't seem to realize the Elephant in the Room. His whole business about recruiting allies to flight against Laplace puts him in conflict with the Papalists and makes the Cardinalists his natural allies. His presence in the city to build a new Ruquad's Branch is inconvenient for Cliff, isn't it? 1:06:00 Is good that Rudeus "gives her the benefit of the doubt", but I fell he has a habit of doing this only with people and during moments they don't deserve, while he assumes the worst from people during moments he shouldn't.

They both can be redeemed, but the process is still very comfortable. And at the time I read this section, I just dropped MT for a couple of days so that I have the mental space to read it.
This whole thing with Claire is exactly why I’ve distanced myself from my family. Not the forced marriage crap but how they shoved themselves in my life..
Claire doesn't care what happened in Asura. As far as she is concerned Millis is the only truly civilized country and has no interest in the greater world. Her only attention is on Millis politics and her family's status within. She is a strict and harsh person to others but more so upon herself. She cares deeply about her daughter as well as both Norn and Aisha but doesn't show it how you would. Instead she shows it with her strictness and trying to instill proper behavior by them based upon their status as that is the world she knows. I realize that you don't agree that is how you show love but that is how she does. Also, you are projecting your issues on Aisha. She is an anime trope. That is, she likes wearing the maid outfit and is a flirt. She never was actually interested in Rudius and in fact felt resentment towards the Rudius until she and her mom were saved by him in Sharon. For a brief time she had a crush on him but that was over shortly after she arrived in Sharia. She just enjoyed flirting with him and getting him flustered. Reread her previous interactions with that in mind as a possibility and it is quite obvious.

Also when the Roxy figurine was broken by Linia and Pursena, Rudeus was very angry considering his unstable mental state at the time.
