Lol. I was going to post a similar comment but you beat me too it. Buy a bunch of kits online, ez-wire, bolt on, minimal skills required, minimal imagination required, ready to go no problem solving or creativity required. Slap it all together and call yourself a builder. You are an assembler. Any idiot can buy the kit and follow the instructions. this is horrible.
DQ ..I totally agree ! It's getting to be all plug and play now. Same thing happened with Harley , every yupi suddenly had to have one then put illegal aftermarket pipes on it to be cool . Hot rodding in not supposed to be a rich mans hobby ! It's about working stiff car guys doing what they can on Saturday with what they got. Not some guy who never got his hands dirty building his dream car now that he has the Cash to do it !
You guys are a crackup. You ignore the fact that these guys didn't get their knowledge of how to do this over night. They have probably done a ton of "hot rod" budget builds. Not every one is a long, drawn out, sitting in the driveway for years type of build. They are just showing what can be done in a week. Badass truck guys. Don't listen to these crybabies.
Love the truck. My favorite years 67-72 . But stop cutting up all these damn trucks. Soon there wont be any long beds, and all the short beds will be fakes!
Stick with it guys.. Everyone is a "backseat driver" but i think the shows are really good. Excellent quality products featured that most enthusiasts can purchase and install for use on our builds...
just a few master mechanic buddys, state of the art shop, unlimited budget and resources, super straight zero rust, freshly painted C20, and 5 DAYS. piece of cake 8)
I picked up a 74 C20 a few months back for $1500. Its old and beat up and I love it. I love the body style and would never chop it and lose the 8ft bed. It's awesome having the extra room. It would be nice to upgrade it to get more power and better mileage. Also to steer and stop better. But that's all $$$. I need to fix rusty floor pans first before I fall through lol.
Holy Toledo! I had a 70 C20,, it was on its third motor, it had about 400k on it, the front was smashed from the battle it won against the deer, the frame broke in half at tip up town but man that was the best truck I ever owned.
Why not just buy something new if you just want to throw a pile of cash at something ? I miss the days when hot rodding was about taking something old and making it fast and cool with what you had to work with , not how much money you had to buy new parts to put together like some big boys model car kit or toy that anyone could have if they got a big enough stack of cash.
Your wright i watch alot of car tv now days it's all about money and how anyone calls theirself a street racer is beyond me. If a car has 2 hundred thousand and 1500 hp how is that a streetcar
That's exactly how I built my 1972 GMC Suburban I had to hunt around for all my parts many junk yards to find a driver's door because they are not the same as a truck it's square at the corner of the window some things I bought brand new after market stuff change the interior to 2000 suburban seats body work and primer sealer done by me I bought my own paint from Hot Rods folate and had Miracles body and Paint shop paint it for me. I couldn't bring myself to selling it so I gave it to one of my nephew's and he still has it to this day. I don't see to many of those 3 door suburban any more. I told my nephew the older it gets the more it's going to go up in value. I had old car's my whole life and I do still have a few hanging around my home people like to look at.
This is a goddamn travesty. A mint, straight old c20 is a rare sight, but these "protouring" douchemobiles are a dime a dozen. All the utility and practicality is out the door for what? Something that can't go over a damn speed bump without high-centering? Tears were shed Hot Rod Network. Tears were shed.
Kenneth Melrose I agree, this cut and paste job was totally unnecessary. I recently bought a '72 C20 Camper Special, 350, Turbo 400, kinda rough, but I'm in California so no rust. LOVE it and expect it to last another 45 years as is. My first truck, I don't count my '62 Ranchero as one. Kind of a impulse buy, I had no idea it was so desirable at the time. Lucky me.
That truck is no where near original condition. A perfect C/20 isn't exactly rare or very valuable. They made a bizzilion of them and there are plenty of them out there.
Five days? Yeah, right. 5 days, at least a dozen guys, perhaps $30,000 of parts from suppliers who also helped install their parts. So, 10 guys, 10 hours per day, 100 hours times five days - 500 hours. At $100 per hour, that's $50,000. Take the $50,000 in labour, add it to the $30,000 in parts. $80,000. I expect better than this advertorial type crap from Hot Rod Magazine. The dude with all the tough stickers didn't even get his shiny red shoes dirty, which tells you everything you need to know. And before some fucktard gives me grief and says I don't know what I'm talking about - I restore cars for a living.
All that build up and then they run cast manifolds and 2.5" dual exhaust. You'd think they would do aftermarket or custom long tubes and at least dual 3" exhaust.
Long beds are not rare at all. You find 20 long beds for every short bed. You will also get a running non rusty version for $1500 any day of the week compared to the short bed big window you would be luck to get just a body and frame with no motor, glass or interior for $4000.
Gorgeous in every way, great job guys. A great custom build looks like jewelry. Hood hinges, wheels, and paint are spectacular. Too bad the intake cover is molded dull black plastic. Ride height is too low for my NE pot holes.
You don't think they drove them in with the impact and then used a torque wrench on them? You are probably right...you've built more engines than all of these guys.
look so cute and easy parts accessable and money's there to spend short bed conversion plus drive haft 500$ lowering kit plus brakes 2000 trans 800 engine 10000 dreaming I'll finish my c10 priceless
My idea is to take a 74 square body stepside and drop in a 605. Naturally aspirated on E85 with a giant cam. Big ET Drag slicks out back and skinnies in the front. And ITBs. Cuz why not? LS swaps are for Camaros. :P
Oh Wow! Look what you can do with 8 mechanics and an unlimited budget!! Plus as a bonus all the free performance parts that companies want to give you because they want to be shown at the big car shows!! There is no correlation to what 2 guys can do in a 2 car garage with a small budget!!
Who said there was a correlation? This just didn't happen to be one of those types of builds...totally different. Isn't hot-rodding about changing your vehicle to suit your own taste?
forget these crying ass users. hotrod shows us all types of stuff and the free content is appreciated. there are hundreds of videos of people on a budget showing every step. however, if you do it again, I would like to see a junkyard build . literally everything from a local yard, cleaned up, and made to work the best you can.
I love my project daily 81 Chevy C10 factory Short Bed, still has the original engine and transmission as well and is currently in the process of getting it moving and going and it's my first vehicle with me being the second owner, and it has every piece of documentation ever done with it including build sheet and pre inspection sheet
Out of Curiosity, how much would a build like this cost the average person? awesome truck hopefully ill see it cruise the streets of Orange County or at the brothers truck meet.
in the real world, this would be a six month project. You could eat off that truck before it came in the garage. Most guys would be torching bolts off, hammering, eating rust.... And I agree, that truck was perfect before you cut it up. Grow a pair, you don't need a quiet comfortable truck LOL it does look nice both ways though...
I've seen frame shortening but the ones I've seen do a z cut through the chassis not straight up and down.I think that would give the frame more rigidity and be more safe.but good show
This is a good example of what a non hotrod person would build just because you can doesn't mean you should had you started with a crusty C10 maybe just maybe the reactions would be different but nuetering such a prime ol working class truck is a shame obviously, heck why don't you guys take a Ferrari body stick it on a K3500 chassis next oh an then Cummins swap it to. I'm just glad you guys didn't craptina this truck and slap on Detroit transport wheels to yanno like all the non car guys do
Look at these guys. There's some weird vibe going on. Their eye contact is all messed up. They only look each other in the eye for a split second, and then look off into the void.

Regardless, it turned out looking pretty sick and would still be a capable truck to haul anything with the addition of some helper bags.
After all that performance build work y'all leave some weak ass cast manifolds and then run 2.5" dual exhaust. My 498rwhp NA ls1 is running ceramic costed hooker long tube super comps, with a 3" catless y-pipe and and a 4" spintech exhaust system after the ypipe merges. I don't get the small exhaust unless you're trying to move the power down lower but it's going to kill the top end. Can you explain the reasoning for your exhaust selection when obviously y'all had the equipment to make customs long tubes and at the very least could have ran 3" true duals.
Dual 2 1/2 will flow plenty. Those are hookers stainless manifolds that flow better than stock without the issues common with headers. You didnt need 3"-4" on your truck but you did what everyone does cuz you think its right.
This time on Week to Wicked, we use our unlimited budget and man power to bolt on all these kits we found online.
CorporalRadar it’s a catalog truck! Sad times!

Love how he just sends it even though he obviously has the wrong socket. That Wheel gonna fly!!! . hope they rechecked tough...
Love the truck. My favorite years 67-72 . But stop cutting up all these damn trucks. Soon there wont be any long beds, and all the short beds will be fakes!

Craig Cundiff yup.
Man!!!! It would be one thing to take a old beater c10 and cut it up and do what you did. But wow! You took a really nice clean c20 and destroyed it.
just a few master mechanic buddys, state of the art shop, unlimited budget and resources, super straight zero rust, freshly painted C20, and 5 DAYS. piece of cake 8)
wow, the long bed just slotted straight onto the shortened frame. lol
great job on the C10 looks awesome.
First video I've seen in this series and I looked to see if I was watching the last episode because the truck already looked great.
it's only a cold air intake if the pod filter is isolated from the engine bay, other wise it's just a pod filter sucking hot engine bay air
I picked up a 74 C20 a few months back for $1500. Its old and beat up and I love it. I love the body style and would never chop it and lose the 8ft bed. It's awesome having the extra room. Damn that old truck was in fantastic condition.
Truck bed magically shortened itself? Did I miss something?
You can see the old bed in the background when they're putting the new bed on.
I was about to say the same thing
No its hot rod, instead of cutting down and using old bed they would rather spend the 2500 to build a new bed and then paint it
That was the part i was waiting for that never came
Q - How much money did that conversion cost?
A - All of it.
Matt Farah's Million Mile Lexus
A lot
Holy Toledo! I had a 70 C20,, it was on its third motor, it had about 400k on it, the front was smashed from the battle it won against the deer, the frame broke in half at tip up town but man that was the best truck I ever owned.
Should have just found a decent cab and frame! You guys pretty much threw away the rest of the truck anyway...
Hell just buy new cab and new frame. Make a box or tube frame, I'm sure they're for sale somewhere
sorry, couldn't watch this, i can't believe this is Hot Rod network. It was a nice truck to start with :(
A week. The magic of television
the best part about this build is the fact that they completely didn't even think about the stereo system
aw you hacked up such a nice truck
Right? I'd love to have a bench seat that nice.
idk about hacked up, but i noticed they started with a truck that looks brand new under it lol
mind you i havnt finished watching it yet
I shed a tear when I saw no Gunk on that bright SBC Orange
Everything is so shiny and clean.
Yep, new build, new parts
Why not just buy something new if you just want to throw a pile of cash at something ? I miss the days when hot rodding was about taking something old and making it fast and cool with what you had to work with , not how much money you had to buy new parts to put together like some big boys model car kit or toy that anyone could have if they got a big enough stack of cash.

I had old car's my whole life and I do still have a few hanging around my home people like to look at.
I would have liked to see a parts list of what they used. Would have helped me figure out what brands the pros like to use.
Perfect!! old and original is hard work these days!!!!
K20 conversion wouldve been so cool. This was done on hot rod garage . I don't hate the truck but just a thought out loud .
Chevy has the best rides hands down
This is a goddamn travesty. A mint, straight old c20 is a rare sight, but these "protouring" douchemobiles are a dime a dozen. All the utility and practicality is out the door for what? Something that can't go over a damn speed bump without high-centering? Tears were shed Hot Rod Network. Tears were shed.
absolutely Kenneth, couldn't have said it better...
Where do you live where these are rare??!
Kenneth Melrose im sure that truck had a full frame off restoration and had very little original parts left so no big loss
Lucky me.

madbikeboysins very well said I couldn't have said it better myself what a bunch of hack jobs
Lol 30k$ in the parts the engine is 23k$ i think so more like 40k$ in parts
All that build up and then they run cast manifolds and 2.5" dual exhaust. You'd think they would do aftermarket or custom long tubes and at least dual 3" exhaust.
Yeah, I can build circles around these clowns. And I'm just the dog!!! ua-cam.com/video/1X12plFWGPI/v-deo.html
madbikeboysins you don't know what your talking about
Goals!!!!@! C10 over any chevy body style trucks...
There are already too few 8 foot box trucks. I wonder if these guys would have even hacked a 10 box truck. Those babies are rare.
Long beds are not rare at all. You find 20 long beds for every short bed. You will also get a running non rusty version for $1500 any day of the week compared to the short bed big window you would be luck to get just a body and frame with no motor, glass or interior for $4000.
OldDirtGuy long beds are ugly and they aren't rare.
cool truck! nice colors and wheels & engine!
Gorgeous in every way, great job guys. A great custom build looks like jewelry. Hood hinges, wheels, and paint are spectacular. Too bad the intake cover is molded dull black plastic. Ride height is too low for my NE pot holes.
Nice red shoes. So, they’re from...Victoria’s Secret!? Don’t drive a truck with those big bad boys
way to torque bolts to spec on flex plate. AMATEUR
Did they use a horrible freight impact?
You don't think they drove them in with the impact and then used a torque wrench on them? You are probably right...you've built more engines than all of these guys.
WOW in just five days that's amazing
Thanks for the hard work, I"ll be keeping mine a long bed with the OG 350. Not quite the hard critique as most others, good show tho.
awesome truck piss off haters go get in ur Prius and quit hating
Bring all your bling over to my 2002 Dakota 4 door with 210k miles in upstate NY rust belt. Saltiest roads around.
give u guy's a hint after worming up the engine to full temp re tighten the headers and collectors this is what the pro's do
I can tell you that the Half Cabs are super comfortable, by Vans!
Great Infomercial!
Right?! Truck turned out pretty badass too.
look so cute and easy parts accessable and money's there to spend short bed conversion plus drive haft 500$ lowering kit plus brakes 2000 trans 800 engine 10000 dreaming I'll finish my c10 priceless
such an original engine swap!
BelowAmbient tell me about it! I'm tired of LS swaps. They should drop in a traditional small block or big block and just add EFI
My idea is to take a 74 square body stepside and drop in a 605. Naturally aspirated on E85 with a giant cam. Big ET Drag slicks out back and skinnies in the front. And ITBs. Cuz why not? LS swaps are for Camaros. :P
Sai Namuduri I agree
+Brian Samuels A rowdy bigblock would have been way more interesting. Instead, just another boring ass LS swap.
Yeah! Should have installed a Subayota JZdTLZHMDgT24 Tri-turbo Inline V6 instead. That would have developped at least a bazillion horsepower...
Good job
Oh Wow! Look what you can do with 8 mechanics and an unlimited budget!! Plus as a bonus all the free performance parts that companies want to give you because they want to be shown at the big car shows!! There is no correlation to what 2 guys can do in a 2 car garage with a small budget!!

Nice little truck i wish i could do this to my 90 s-10 ext. cab love to have all that horsepower at my beck & call but mabey one day............
nice build, but should of used a less nice donor. I would off used that c20 for what it was meant for.
wait why doesn't the truck have mirrors?
It's a beautiful conversion,
but only in dreams, since it cost a BOMB
forget these crying ass users. hotrod shows us all types of stuff and the free content is appreciated. there are hundreds of videos of people on a budget showing every step. however, if you do it again, I would like to see a junkyard build . literally everything from a local yard, cleaned up, and made to work the best you can.
So sad to see a beautiful truck ruined. Why not fix up something that needed it?
Had me hoping for a stepside bed, but ehhhh ok. Dig classic style with clean modern power.
Glad I have a short bed 1972 gmc with an ls 5.3
I love my project daily 81 Chevy C10 factory Short Bed, still has the original engine and transmission as well and is currently in the process of getting it moving and going and it's my first vehicle with me being the second owner, and it has every piece of documentation ever done with it including build sheet and pre inspection sheet
I wish I had all the stuff they trashed.
Same man, same.
Great acting. Now back to watching Lucky, Freiburger and Dulsich, missed those guys after 5 minutes of this shit.
33:55 you can just see the chevelle parked on the road
Out of Curiosity, how much would a build like this cost the average person? awesome truck hopefully ill see it cruise the streets of Orange County or at the brothers truck meet.
The 25yo guy say he wants to build hot-rods from scratch , more like scratching his ass from not wiping it right from scratch ,lol.
at 7:30 aren't you playing the MotorTrend/Hot Rod Garage/RoadKill music in the background? Could you not find something original?
Adam Peddel same damn company
should have shortened the original truck bed.
where'd you get the music?
from a bass fishing show? ...
So does wearing a hat over folded ears cause cauliflower ear too?
in the real world, this would be a six month project. You could eat off that truck before it came in the garage. Most guys would be torching bolts off, hammering, eating rust.... And I agree, that truck was perfect before you cut it up. Grow a pair, you don't need a quiet comfortable truck LOL it does look nice both ways though...
I've seen frame shortening but the ones I've seen do a z cut through the chassis not straight up and down.I think that would give the frame more rigidity and be more safe.but good show
These kits have been done over and k we with zero issues
Sweet C10 and Chevelle, but why add toilet seats? I'm only hating because It hurt how you tossed a good bench.
Jonathan Gonzalez i wish i had that bench seat for my 69 c30 8X12 flat bed.
What about shortening the bed and moving and welding the bed mounts, a new rear axle etc....................
Why didn't you use the return line port an the regulator?
great build. the LED, frame shortening on that particular long bed. Real pros.. real show.
You didn't shorten the bed. Hot Rod has become Star Wars after Disney bought it.
How Much was your budget for this? Im working on my C20 at the moment same color but long bed 402 ENGINE REBUILT
to showcase the 700hp engine, he performs a brakestand.
Good job looks even better than before
I like it. Its not something your typical joe shmoe would be able to do but, it just shows what can be done when you have the sponsorship backing you. That's probably is what's pissing off all the people watching it and posting negative comments.
I'm curious to know what you did with the original bed. Did you guys cut it down?
Regardless, it turned out looking pretty sick and would still be a capable truck to haul anything with the addition of some helper bags.
I wish they would have left it a long bed, other than that nice build
Boyd Forbes long beds are going to end up rare
21:26 “let’s go to bed”. Modern workshop relationship. Good on them.
So this is what Stamper is up to now
ARE YOU SURE YOU ADVERTISE THE NAME OF THE SHOW ENOUGH?
how'd the bed get shortened?
Poor truck. I just picked up a long bed 72 c20 in this exact color. Hurts to see it cut up especially one in this good of shape.
complain complain complain, sounds like a bunch of jelious people.
you took a great Chevy and made a bitchen ride.
great job guys.....
what'd this truck do to you?
john becay right!
Can you send me the website or the link to get that short long bed short bed kit I'd like I'm interested in doing it to mine
I might be impressed if it was not already a rebuilt truck.
What's the round about figure of putting all these new parts in this truck 50k? 30k?outside of labor if I did the work.
Easy to work on a clean truck... Not one from the 70s
What's your point?
when can we build a amx,no parts on line for that build, kinda forces you to fab something up.
make a video that shows the cpp rear break kit on a stock rear end
Oh wow I clicked this video and its theses clowns again.Nah just kidding love the channel man
No more wrenching .Its all drilling now
After all that performance build work y'all leave some weak ass cast manifolds and then run 2.5" dual exhaust.
You didnt need 3"-4" on your truck but you did what everyone does cuz you think its right.
did the fabricated rear end use chevy ends to use the cpp rear break kit
I feel violated seeing this perfectly restored c20 being torn apart. Should have found a truck needing restore to do this to. Pretty idiotic.
PS. unsubscribed.
ok so all this costed What $50,000 nice but... WTF
I will say these guys did do a good built though, even if I don't think it was a bad truck to start with :)
Mounting the efi boxes to the fender look terrible compared to everything else. Why not make them a custom mount on the firewall
what rear end did you guys go with?
