I spent 6.5 years as a Titan 2 Combat Crew Member (1981-1987), McConnell AFB KS. I was a Missile Facilities Technician (MFT). That was a lot of responsibility for a 18 year old!
Nice to see the silo intact, rather than capped/ destroyed. Would make a nice home with the silo being a natural swim/ plunge pool.. Looks in very good condition, even in comparison to some of more well known converted T2's..
Wow, the scrappers were certainly thorough on this one! I don't think I've seen a more stripped-out site. (At least for ones not stripped down by owners.) Very little left other than concrete. Thanks for the vid!
No way this is abandoned. The site is incredible shape overall, some of the floors look rough but the paint is in great shape. Whoever owns it went through that site and did extensive clean up.

Looks pretty dry. Would take a lot of work to seal it, but a lot of the scrapping looks to have already been done. Unfortunate to see the flooring in the LCC was taken out. At least, there are good beams to lay down new flooring over.
The llc and tunnel look real good I assume due to being sealed for so long and California climate . Interesting they took the doors at the vandenburg site but none of the others . For a timeline I wonder was the vandenburg Titan II built first as a proving site training or launches . I would assume multiple launches would be hard as they were designed to be used once . I don’t see as much info about the vandenburg site in silo videos and websites. Just that it’s oriented differently for shots over the pacific as I heard from the Titan II missile museum video .
There are also springs and hangers missing in LCC, it seems like the whole "birdcage" is sitting on the bottom concrete floor of LCC instead of being hanged from the top. There were multiple launches from each of Titan II silo at Vandenberg - after each launch burned silo tube was refurbished.
Interesting indeed. I’m not sure how the damage in this silo occurred, but all three of the Titan II sites at Vandenberg actually escaped being imploded. Even more interesting, check out the *mothballed* site 395-C.
@@SteveStoltz me too! Matt Mitchell went yesterday to 395-C and said the site was sealed up. I’m awaiting more photos from the 1995 session per email from the original photographer, but here is a video from back then: ua-cam.com/video/-IcIbtF_Cok/v-deo.html
How is it possible that this is so good? Why is the structure intact? In the decommission order they have to destroy all the entrances and the long tunnel. lucky that it is open.
This site is actually at Vandenberg so since it is on an active base it was never subject to the same decommissioning requirements as the other Titan II's

Converting these into a home or mancave is over rated. Leave it alone or come up with a original idea.
This site has really been stripped out. This is all pretty cool, spooky and dangerous. Former 532nd SMS crew member.

That pool in the launch duct looks so inviting to bring scuba and explore. See the blast deflector etc at the bottom
I used to work in these. Wow, this is really gutted, almost unrecognizable.
Imagine how much work removing those springs in the control center would be, wow!

looks like they pulled the Generator out the gapping hole on silo level 3.
Pretty cool! And no reason to apologize, that would spook anyone. Thanks for sharing.
