I used to believe that, since Korea is a developed country with high standards in education, every single Korean would know English very well! I was surprised to know that the vast majority of the idols have just a minor knowledge of English.
A lot developed countries in Europe have a really low (or non-existant) English level, so it's not that surprising in my opinion. Especially given the fact that South Korea is leading in the entertainment industry, so they basically have "everything" in their mother language.
@@leastselfawarepotassium Many Koreans do have English classes since elementary school and there is an English test for college entrance exam (source: a quick Google) , so it's no unreasonable to expect some of them to know at least a little bit of English
