@phllipdickey6460 he lived next door to Stringbean and his wife Estelle...it was Grandpa who found the bodies of Stringbean and Estelle after they had been brutally murdered......I hope you will reply to this
Yup, Grandpa saw there was no smoke coming from String and Estelle’s chimney so he went to see if they needed anything, thinking they might both be sick. They bought the property together and Grandpa and Ramona had kids but String and Estelle never did. Jones went over to see color at the front of the house and the car door open. He ran home and called the cops. The Brown boys were given 200 years. Marvin died in prison. John was paroled after either 46 or 48 years (considerably less than 200). Now, many don’t remember Stringbean because he’s been gone so long. I didn’t know any of this until today. There’s a song about it though.
@@grim_110I'm 30 years old and grew up watching these two with my grandpa on old re runs of hee haw and my grandpa was so surprised that I actually liked them because all kids listen to rap it seems like the sound and style blew me away
Bobby Bare told a great story about Stringbean and his love for fishing. They were going to met and go fishing. They got the dock guess Bobby and his crew were still nursing hangovers. Bobby and the rest attempted to get in boat, somebody lost their balance, tripped and turn the boat over. Said Stringbean went out in the water picking up his gear. Once he finish he turned to everyone and said. Well fellows Maybe we'll do this again sometime. Its been yrs since I heard it. So story is close enough.
All good. There's not many Hee Haw performances on UA-cam barring the later years that are recorded with cameras or ones mainly focused on Roy Clark with String and GP mainly as side characters, so may as well have uploaded it.
I think given the schedule of Hee Haw a lot of other stuff overlapt so his famous outfit was pretty much gone by the late 60s while HH was filmed so he was seen wearing them mostly. Think the oldest Stringbean outfit photo was 1967, so it disappeared sometime after that.
STRINGBEAN DID NOT HAVE TO DIE ! He could have turned, and left, and contacted the sheriff department, that would have confronted the home invaders, and took them into custody, instead he trusted in a Saturday night 6 shot 22 cal. pistol loaded with hollow points, but he was so scared he fired 4 shots into the floor at his feet out of extreme fear !
They were best friends through and through

Always like grandpa's wife Ramona too.
I thought she was awsome on playing the bells.
It don't get any better than this !!!
Both in heaven now 😢
Shame though how we lost Stringbean. Hope the thieving bastard had a miserable life in prison.

Great quality footage for being from the late 60s or early 70s
Like String's signature sign-off with his cap.
The murder of Stringbean was shocking to say the least.
If I could play like that I would play every day 😂
If you'd play everyday you would play like that.
Wow. Made my eyes well up.
Grandpa Jones & Stringbean cir 1970
Love you stringbean and miss you dearly
Love these guys : )
Granpa sure can play that banjo !

❤❤❤
Roni Stoneman was another good banjo picker and sometimes would play with these gentlemen.
@harlanabraham7772 Funny you should mention that. I'll be uploading a video of one session in the next couple of hours.
Believe it or not to Americans treasures
Stringbean Was On Hee Haw From 1969 To 1974 129 Episodes 5 Seasons
That's how you pick a banjo fingers
only thing wrong with that song is it has to end!
❤
Stringbean was only 30 here
They were great a pair of legends
I don't recall Stringbean wearing the long shirt on small pants on Hee Haw, had he given that up by then? I always loved his letter from home.

Ya'll can tap your foot if ya'll want.
SPIT... TING ...
😂🎉🎉🎉🎉
Must of missed his death at the hands of buglers.how sad. Down home good man
Is that Rachel Maddow playing banjo along with Grandpa Jones?
Sounds like they sound the t in little instead of saying liddle like modern Americans

So he confronted robbers, but was scared to death....makes perfect sence....
Put the blame where it lies. With the cowards that killed him
This comment is completely unnecessary. Unless you were there, you have no idea. A senseless killing is what it was. R.I.P. String and Estelle 🙏🏻🙏🏻
That has to be one of the stupidest things I've ever heard
He was murdered and that's that. Blame the killer!
American Spirit !!!
