I’ve never seen anyone make actual pearls.. I wanna try that someday
[UPDATE 1] it’s been 1 year and I’ve completely forgotten about this. I’m in quarantine so I might try it if I’m bothered LOL
[UPDATE 2] I made it and uh,,, didn’t turn out so well. I’m not sure what went wrong but I think I didn’t mix it well enough? it wasn’t really chewy, it was more sticky and grainy- flavor wasn’t that bad so uh 3/10 lol might try again
[UPDATE 3] damn, my comment suddenly blew up- well uh school has started for me but once I’m on holidays again I’ll definitely try it again. So... see y’all in 2 months LMAO
[UPDATE 4] hiiii I’m back lol. I made it again and uh no success- still the same consistency. I honestly wouldn’t recommend but it’s fun to make! I’ll probably turn the remaining dough into idk big mochi balls or something haha
I luv ur nameee (sorry but ARMYS UNITE)
Me I just buy the pearls put them in cold ice tea I make then add the already boiled pearls
Cause people buy the pre made ones

I have made them. It’s time consuming but worth it

I'm from India and we don't get Boba here so this is a life safer I can finally try bubble tea ❤ thank you so much!
You are welcome! Everyone should get a chance to try bubble tea, I am glad it helped you out :) Cheers!
Aishwarya Paul you can try "sabudana" coz they are all made from tapioca starch.
Think about it you can drink this in fast 😁

Ohh, I was going to make a boba stand at my schools mini fete (basically a small little festival) but my friends said it might be too expensive, but all I actually need to buy for this is the tapioca starch-

Are you gonna do it then?
@@noxyah Nope, because they kicked me out so 2 other people could join :) and the group I'm with now is not doing boba

KanaKookieなぜ your friends are low key mean not to be rude but get some new ones lol
Me before quarantine: oHHH...that's cool, but meh, I don't need to learn how to make bubble tea, I can just go out and buy a cup if I ever want one.
Me during quarantine: I want bubble tea sooooo badddddddddd but my dad isn't willing to go out and search for tapioca starch :(
He Corinne if the doesnt wanna go out for tapioca starch why dont he just buy a cup of boba instead of making it-
Buy tapioca pearls on amazon
It's actually less search than you'd think! I don't know what stores are around you, but you can find it in the baking aisle at Kroger and Publix, it will say flour instead if starch, but it's the same thing 🤗
@Nameless But Known It would probably work, but they won't taste right, the proper term for the bubbles in the tea is Tapioca Pearls, if you substitute you'll have Corn Pearls, and will taste more like bread
•CoCo• boyyyy we’re on QUARANTINE you’re supposed to stay home unless for essential business like groceries or if you have an essential job.
This is really better than restaurant bought ones! Tysm.

Well than how did it get here lmao 😂 jkjk
h-how did you think it was created then?
I use tapioca pearls, so I didn’t know about this until now. I want to try to make it sometimes though
Saeyoung Choi it was made by roots of a tree. It’s usually made in factories which use a lot of machines for it and NOT from scratch.
This is amazing. I made it last day and so yummy, exactly the same with that famous franchise bubble shop. But bcs I am really avoid to use microwave, it's quite hard and need extra effort to make the dough. Anyhow, i'm so happy and so my husband. We made it with thai iced tea. Thanks girls 😍😍
Next time use a double boiler, it will make it much easier. The direct heat will cook the dough too fast, but it will be much slower than using the microwave :)
And Thai tea sounds so yummy 😋
How long did it take to make this ?!?
I would like to try without using microwave. How you manage to do it..?
Buy a package of tapioca pearls from Chinese supermarket or
Yumibuy.com
Follow the rest of the steps
Tapioca pearls package are very Cheap , it yields a lot Once boiling
I used to live in America and I moved to Africa and they have a weird version of it so thanks!
Yes that is just regular tapioca
Where in Africa, are you? I'm in the South and it's great this side!
Ok - I'm going to try this tomorrow. My quarantine project.

You should open your own Bubble Tea shop, I bet lots of people will buy it because is handmade, and by chance you can customise the tapioca pearls
Most boba shops are handmade
Then I must be unlucky, here in London I've seen only a few handmade ones, and I've been working in a bubble tea place where it wasn't
Add Kim ohh wait you are talking about handmade pearls!! I’m actually not sure which ones handmake them omg I guess I’m in the same boat as you
@@janetsnakehole4836 Yeah, that's why I was saying that if he/she can open her/his own place, adding add a special hidden flavour in the pearls recipe like chocolate, vanilla or other will become very challenging for other bubble tea places where they just buy in bulk from other companies the normal plain tapioca pearls
Add Kim omg that’s a good idea!!
I’m so going to try this!!!
Here in Australia there isn’t much places near me that has actually boba with the pearls, it’s mostly like these cubes.
grass jelly milk tea?
I know right mostly in Melbourne
I've been looking so long on how to make pearls but every bubble tea recipe I found asked for the pre made pearls
It's a huge relief to know I can make it from scratch
Try this out, I promise they are better than those pre-made stuff😉

Quick tip when making tapioca pearls never over knead the “dough”
Do you know from from accident?
Also it's ok if so I do dumb stuff all the time just wondering
Btw thanks for the tip ^^
I am surely going to make this thanks a lot!!!!! 💜💜💜 Also yours looks stunning!💜💜💜
Lol this didn't even work! It stayed the color it started as after I did everything I was supposed to! I might of done something wrong, but I followed the instructions pretty exact. I recommend buying premade Boba if you want it home. Had a lot of fun making it though!

“Potable water” lmao. Because, without sarcasm, that is honestly super important. Clean water throughout the entire process-amazingly great tasting tea.
Liked and shared!
can you use corn starch or all porpous flour for the pearls instead of tapioca? Im very excited to make this, Im just wondering if I need to go to the store first.
Go to the store! Corn starch will technically work but it is so not chewy and wheat flour won't work at all. Tapioca will get you the best results!
@@bizarreisland thank you!
I'm starting to have withdrawals now that I'm in quarantine with no easy access to boba so I need to try this.
Please add the measures to be mixed along with the timing of dough preparation and microwave

Best recipe EVER!!!!!
I live in Japan and we get lots of boba tea but since I’m quarantined I cannot go anywhere this is very helpful for me .:)
What can i use instead of tapioca starch ?
You can use cornstarch but the boba won't be chewy. They will just go through your teeth.
DANG IT I WANT BOBA NOWWWWWWW....wait I could just make this!! THANK YOU FOR MAKING A VIDEO ON THIS :D
Hey I just saw this video and was wondering, can you use rice-flower instead of tapioca starch? When making mochi, rice-flower had a similar stretching effect. So can this be used as a substitude?
.
You can use different recipes. It can work with normal flour from what I heard but I’m not sure
@@savantisq4549 okay cool thanks, got some tapioca starch anyway it was hard to find but worth it :)

Could I use corn starch instead of tapioca starch? Lockdown in my city has gone wild so I can’t really go out to get some :(

For the people who don't have tapioca starch, you can also use cornstarch as a replacement!
You did not say how long you should stay in the microwave. (?)
I think 2 to 3 min also when u put it in the water 10 to 15 min

Its because in some countries you cant get the actual tapioca to make boba tea

lol
Mooood lmao
hey just no shade to this recipe but microwaving will not be the best meth hood but here is a more "safe" method
ingredients:
1/4 cup brown sugar (you can use any sugar)
1/3 cup water
1 cup tapioca powder
Instructions:
1.pour all the sugar and water in a pot or pan thats heated.
2. when melted put HALF of the one cup of tapioca powder in
3. Mix then after when its together TURN OFF HEAT. It will be sticky so add the other half. then mix
4.Put the mixture on a flat sure face then knead till all are together
5. Make into equal balls
6.boil till the balls rise up, then wait a little till it gets clear.
7. when done boiling put in bowl of ice water.
8. put some sugar and water and sugar for "sauce" coating
BAM EASY PEASY!!
it may seem hard but its actully simple.
When you have all the ingredients but you dont have a microwave :'
Use the double boiler method! It takes longer than using a microwave but its a way 😛
I don't even know where to buy these do they sell this stuff in Ireland

The taro drink is even better when it’s blended 👌
Is that how all tapioca pearls are made? With tapico starch?
Yes
One variation yes. I know of one that uses coconut milk and another that uses honey to flavor it. There's even minty fresh one's. Its up to one's own creativity.
Great Video
When you want to try doing it but don’t know where to buy the incredients
Brooo, i made my own boba but this is so much smarter. I took Bob's Red Mills tiny tapioca pearls, crushed them to a fine powder, balled them and boiled them while puttin them in a caramelized brown sugar melt. This would take so much less time but it's both good regarless
can i replace tapioca starch with corn starch ????
i think not
i dont think so cs im actually doing it and i failed terribly T.T
cornstarch actually works it just tastes a little weird
Usually no because boba pearls are just tapioca pearls meaning tapioca starch
I love this !!!
I wanna ask how much time do we need to put it in the microwave?
Microwave it in 20 Secs interval until you see it half cooked~
Woah this is life changing THANK YOUU💗💗💗 But also can you use corn starch instead of tapioca starch??
Yes but the boba won't be chewy. They will just go through your teeth.
@@darya_xcx I tried it and after I boiled it the outside was exactly like boba but the inside was just full of uncooked starch... also I had to cook it for a reeaallyy long time...
