Hi girl! Just a tip: for ur salchow, don’t leave your leg so far out. try to keep it straight behind you and it will help you do a better jump! Also, for your waltz you’re supposed to swing your leg in the entry not keep tucked. Hope that helps!:)

The nice thing is that in this relaxed mode the technique is much better visible. If skaters do triple jumps and spin like crazy on TV, it is sometimes difficult to spot differences between different jumps if you are not an expert. Here, you can clearly see which foot is doing what and it looks still extremely elegant and smooth as if gravity is reduced. However, whoever tried figure skating and fell on the ice knows: It is just illusion and gravity can still hurt and you must be very skilled and brave to just skate backwards or even on one foot not to speak about jumping and all those crazy spins. I tried few times as a kid and than about 25years later. That time I looked stupid like a fish on land when just trying to move forward without falling. Nevertheless it was fun.

As a figure skater you’re doing really good for just skating for a few years, Just 1 tip, try squeezing your legs together on your sit spin and it will help make your spin go a lot faster! Besides that amazing job!😊

As someone who might hate back spins more than you, I’ve been told time and time again that it is the most important move everrr. Like what’s ur air position for a loop? A back spin position. A axel? A back spin position 😅
I suggest starting with rentals. Once you are ready to commit fully and are at a certain level, maybe when you start salchows, I suggest you get the Jackson recreational skates or the Mystiques. As you move up levels, the skates get more aggressive toe picks which will help for jumping higher and higher. By aggressive I mean that they get closer to the ice and you got more of a rocker, which is helpful for spinning too. For starting off, I suggest getting a private coach. They can boost the speed you progress at 3x more than you would with only group lessons. As you get to higher levels, flexibility will be required, especially for a spiral. A spiral is where you glide on one foot with the other lifted to your waist level or higher. You should also do some off ice training like practicing jumps or working out as well as stretching. Lastly, you should practice at least twice a week so you can see quicker improvement. Good luck! Figure skating is so much fun and I’m sure you’ll love it ❤️
Going off of the last response, be careful with rentals as they don’t offer enough ankle support. I’m getting back into it after years off ice. Jackson is a really good affordable brand, even buying them slightly used so much cheaper is better than rentals, but definitely going out a few times in rentals will give you a good idea, just like I said, not enough support and most don’t actually have proper edges and the toe pick taken off for safety, at least at my local rink they take it off. When you are ready to get your own, got to a pro shop to at least get the right sizing for you in the brand your interested in and ask them as many questions as you can think of, even if you do end up ordering a pair of skates online, knowing the right size is so so so important But you got this! Just know it takes a lot of time and patience and that you will fall a lot but that’s part of the fun. ❤❤❤❤
Hey, I'm an equestrian and also wear glasses. But one very unrelated question? how do you glasses never get foggy? like when I started needing glasses, I just remember my glass always becoming foggy when I wore them when riding, especially in the cold winter and fall months. So do yours never get foggy, considering that your sport inherently comes with not very warm temperatures in the training hall? My problem with my glasses was so bad I had to switch to contacts and kinda stuck with them lol. But I'm just curious but I never see your glasses fog up in any of your clips

10 is a great age too start you might be able to do competitions where u jump doubles! Depends if you go competitive straight away or not. If you take basic skating lessons without patch u will progress slower.
the funniest thing I have experienced in ice skating was when I was trying to copy a girl in training an entrance into a one foot spin and I failed miserably everytime then I randomly switched to practing my waltz jump one foot spins are scary can you pls do a tutorial with more tipsssss

Do they offer Learn to Skate lessons where you live? For $300 I got 10 weeks of lessons plus 10 public skate sessions and free skate rental. It costs $19 for a public skate session at my rink so that equals to $190 for public skating (2 hours) and ten $10 lessons

So basically I just followed her tutorial and asked for help and it took me around 2 hours to get right the basic move (pump and cross)

I’m starting to figure skate for the new year and I’m 13, so any tips on how to get skates or just starting off would be great!

they only fog up when I leave the rink and it’s hot outside! in the rink they never fog up
