God the temple massacre was already horrific in the prequels I didn’t think it could get worse but it’s even more horrifying as they show more of it in the shows
To everyone, who likes or even loves the Canon-version of Order 66 with the inhibitor-chips, it might sound either disappointing or even logical, but I gotta tell you this. Many may not know this, but I would like to point out certain aspects that suggest that the clones as portrayed in the prequels are more in line with the CWMMP-version/Legends-version of the clones, that are not as individual as the clones from TCW. There are hints that show the clones knew about Order 66 and are ready to follow it: - When Cody is informed of Order 66 by Darth Sidious, he says to the AT-TE to "blast him" referring to Obi-Wan scaling the cliff off to the side of the battle, that gun/AT-TE fires almost instantly after the order is given. It's already pointed in the direction of Obi-Wan and only needs to adjust slightly for elevation, it's aiming way off away from the battle, pointing at a bare cliff face only Obi-Wan is in that area. That gun was tracking Obi-Wan since he departed from Cody and his men, waiting for the signal "Blast him" which is so casually delivered by Cody. - When Yoda is attacked by Commander Gree and a scout trooper on Kashyyyk, Gree is off at the back and recieved a communique from Sidious and addresses him literally by "My Lord" (just as Cody does), not as "Chancellor". He then walks up to the scout trooper that stood right behind Yoda and nods at him. The scout troopers is not given a communique, he would've been overheard by Yoda if he had been given one. The scout trooper is given no order by Gree, who did receive the communique, he's just given a nod. A signal, a que. Like they were briefed beforehand and the scout trooper was standing in position, waiting for the signal to take the shot, waiting for the nod. It's just dark if you look at it that way... - Same as the Jedi on the speeder bike: the two (I believe) 91st Recon troopers on bikes accompanying her, look over to each other and nod like "Yep, I got the call. Let's do it". If they were inhibitor-chips, each clone would receive the order through their helmet and just act right there and then, not pre-plan and co-ordinate and nod to each other in a scheming way. - Commander Bacara and his troops approached Ki Adi Mundi on Mygeeto and prepared to fire before they all took the shot at the same time. Bacara had probably already received the order beforehand and was probably waiting for the right moment since he and his men were still fighting the separatist droid army when they suddenly did why I just mentioned. And tbh, the clones maybe even hated Mundi and maybe and they mentioned in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2" in their journals "Keeping Mundi in the dark wasn't easy". - Same as Commander Bly on Felucia: he probably already received Order 66 beforehand as well and he and his men were waiting for the right moment to shoot Aayla Secura in the back. They were probably not happy with it and were respected by her, so they shot her multiple times to make sure she doesn't have to suffer. Even in "Star Wars: Battlefront 2", one of the clones said in his journals "It was a goos thing we were all wearing helmets... Because none of us could bear to look her in the eyes... A darker plot to the inhibitor-chips in the new Canon.
Just so you know, that thing about all the clones knowing that Order 66 was going to happen and just waiting for their time to strike is strictly from Battlefront 2. That idea that the clones all knew they were going to kill the Jedi from the beginning doesn't appear anywhere else in the CWMMP. The actual Legends explanation for the clones following Order 66 is that Order 66 is just one of 150 contingency orders that all clones were trained to follow and that many clones were actually shocked when the order came through. Inhibitor chips don't just turn clones into mindless drones, they are still very much able to think tactically and plan what they're doing. Just look at Rex and the two 332nd troopers on the bridge and they way they act during Order 66, the troopers don't instantly act they wait for the command given by their commander. Same with Jesse, who's still very much able to think and plan during Order 66. Also, nthat little nod Gree gave to his trooper was likely the two of them talking on their helmet comms, which every clone has and they're able to silence external audio so only they will hear each other.
Ok, hands up. The cinematography in ROTS is so much better. Why? Cause the Prequels didn’t freaking use Shaky cams! Who the hell thinks Shaky cams are a good idea? It makes the scene motion sick.
I find it interesting how some people want to make fun of Yoda for taking down the Clones at the temple and praising Ahsoka Tano for not wanting to take down the Clones who betrayed her, the Clones at the temple took out the Younglings / children, Ahsoka Tano was just protecting herself and her friends.
A part of me enjoyed the original canon that the clones were handed the order and just followed it because that was their job. It made the whole ordeal a little more horrifying that you could fight with these troopers for years and form a bond, just for them to blow your head off because a person higher in rank than you told them to. They even managed to make it make a bit of a sense from a reality stand point with the Jedi being so powerful that it made tactical sense to shoot them with no hesitation or they could literally end you with space magic. Plus the fog of war, if you’re on Felucia as a soldier and the Jedi tried to take over the government, how could you know? The only way would be when your officer told you and you couldn’t question his order or else the magical space hermit who can literally pick you up and throw you off a cliff with his mind before chopping your battle buddy in half with a lazer sword would catch whiff of what’s going on. The inhibitor chips make the pill easier to swallow with “Oh they had no choice” when the true horror of war that makes people uncomfortable is the fact that this would be the more likely and reasonable scenario. Plus the books covered a lot more of the loose ends and what ifs with a secret army bred on Coruscant that had no loyalty or battle experience with the Jedi.

it always amazes me how weak the jedi were, even if it was a suprise attack how could they have lost this badly. A temple full of force wielding wizards and lazer swords losing to factory breed soliders.
Not all the Jedi were masters or even knights.
