Finished my sport pilot in this aircraft in Winston Salem NC, piedmont flight training. 6/24/2020. Heading to florida to get private pilot glider rating in this aircraft. Very excited.

Friend of mine has one in South Africa. He Loves it! I believe that the glide angle, or glide ratio on Sinus, is 27 to 1 and Virus is 24 to 1. This means, to non glider pilots, that with prop stopped and feathered, at best glide speed, in STILL air (otherwise accurately measured by other means) the Sinus will fly 27 kilometers for every kilometer above the ground at landing site. One kilometer equals 3280 feet. So from 10,000 ft you can glide 81 kilometers. If you learn how to use thermals for lift, and the technique of "porpoising" through areas of good lift, then you can do very impressive cross country flights with ridiculously low fuel use!! But one tip if you're going to do this, get a good oxygen system fitted with easy to manage systems and good warning systems to prevent disasters. Learn to manage oxygen system to perfection at good Gliding centre. Mountain High is I believe, a great system. Very comfortable too.

Can you get the flex in Canada? What is the difference between the alpha trainer ? You mentioned bc. But looked up and only lists alberta the furthest west.

Both will fit into the ultralight category in Canada. The flex is a motorglider, while the alpha has a shorter wing. You would be best to contact the U.S.A rep and have them forward you info on the Canadian rep.
There are probably half a dozen reports on the Pipistrel line on our UA-cam Channel

Yes, just do your research in the used aircraft ads. around the world and pick what suits you. They're good aircraft but if you're tall check the overhead clearance. I've owned 2 and for my money the Sinus version is the best and most versatile.
