    We used to keep the yoke pulled back while taxiing to keep a little weight off the nose wheel.

      That's right! Especially during run-up and taxiing. Uneven taxiway surfaces can result to prop-strikes on the pavement if the yoke isn't constantly pulled back.

    hi, why when check magneto, after check one move to both and then check another? you can check right, then check left and then back to both, that's in my head of course, and just a curious why not? when we have two switchers of magneto it's logical back to both and then check another one, but with that key? you in any way before check left magneto will turn to the right one and then to the left, so why not going to the right one, then left one and then both? i see that not first time, but first time ask this question. thank you

      Hi! Thank you for dropping by. This is actually a very good question! Cessna 152, 172, 180, 206 etc have a single key for L and R magnetos, both, start, off -- for convenience and simplicity. My guess is that adding separate switches per magneto will only increase design complexity. Remember, these planes were originally designed in the 1960s for ordinary people who owned airplanes just like how we owned cars. Plane owners would like to have their planes with as little gizmos as possible. Also, with this key arrangement, it is practically impossible to "accidentally" flip both L and R magnetos off.

      @@MartyExplainsTech thanx, but i ask other question:) i just said before check left magneto we need switch both only if we are have two switchers, as i see that. i don't ask why we use key instead of switchers. i ask only what the point if we have construction like c310 magneto or p-51 or c-152 before checking another magneto, switch them to booth. why pilots do that? pilots can after engine start watch rpm at 1700 after oil hot enough, then turn the key left - check right magneto, then turn key left again and check left magneto, so my question is why before check left magneto after right in this type of magneto, pilots turn the key to both magneto? for me is looks like just same routine as double switcher but have sense only for be sure, before check left magneto remove all unburned fuel or... i really don't know why, so i ask you as you are real pilot. just imagine you don't read all my dyslexic madness. and only one question - why before check left magneto, pilots back to both magneto with this type of the switchers? what the deal turn back to both before check left one?

      @@einherz hello! Apologies for the rather late response. Go on, keep asking -- it is very important to be inquisitive 😎Alright, so, after checking "right" magneto, we have to go back to "both" so that we can see the "drop" in RPM when we switch to "left" magneto. As to why they chose to build the Cessna with a key instead of switches, I think it's for ergonomics, safety, and ease of operation.

      @@MartyExplainsTech i still don't understand. we have 2000rpm on both magneto, we turn key to the right one and see 1900rpm, so why we have to go back for see again 2000rpm if 1900
