Great video. I'm learning about different light shows for various occasions throughout the year and what might work for my house. I have a small front yard so I'm limited in what props I can use which should make the setup easier. I have a setup similar to your example so the information was really helpful. I'll check your other videos to understand what else is involved. There are so many options for all the different components it's hard to know what's right for my setup. I really appreciate the cost comparison. That was really helpful. Thanks again.
This video is awesome! Thank you! What are your thoughts on using a combination of Pucks, Pixels & Strips. I'd like to find a way to utilize a mix of all. Would I need to use a different controller for each light type or could I just isolate the light type to a port? For example, I like how pucks look shining down on the side of the house. I also like how diffused strips look with effects. I would like to run the pucks and strips along side each other and then use pixels solely for yard props. Have you seen any setups like this?
My thoughts? I have said this a hundred times, the best way is what works for you. If they are all ws28xx protocol you can not only use them all on the same controller, but on many of the newer controllers (Kulp, Falcon) you can even mix them on the same port! (That might not always work depending on the pixel timing, you will have to test it out). Just be careful with strips, they are a PAIN to modify/fix.... But it sounds like a great plan.
I really learned a lot from your videos but still seem to have not found the right solution for my (seemingly) easy problem 😂. I was welding a big snowflake from stainless steel and want to cover it now with smart LED's. (About 500 - 1000 pixels) Then map the LED matrix so it becomes like a big screen though not having a grid layout obviously and programm light shows on the computer for that piece. For two weeks I look for a small standalone controller where I could just upload the file I created and it just plays that show whenever its powered on. I just want it to behave like any other (dumb) light chain: It plays the sequence when ever there is power and you can just shut it of by unplugging. Of course it should have a rather small footprint to give it a waterproof case and make it financially not to heavy... Does anything come to your mind?
Actually I do. you could use a K4-PB from KulpLights kulplights.com/product/k4-pb/ and in FPP you can use a command preset to have the sequence play as soon as the device is powered on.
@ Thank you for your answer! Yes I found them but thats still over 100 dollars just for the controller. I need to get the cost down significantly to make a sellable product out of it. If something comes to your mind I'd love to have a video call with you and pay for your expertise 🙏🏻🙋🏼♂️

I hope they help. Everyone has different yards and visions, so it makes it difficult to give a "best" way.
Love everything you are doing to help grow our addictive hobby. Take it slow and eat the elephant one bite of a time.
I hope it helps!
Great video!!
Thanks and I hope it helped in your decision making!
Very well done. Your explanation & cost comparison matrix made it all so much clearer.
Thanks, I am glad it helped!
Great Video Sir, I was looking at pixel controllers, and your youtube jumped up. This answers a lot. Glad you are staying busy after retirement.
Thanks! and enjoy your new hobby!

@@unfinishedthought I didn't realize you were looking for inexpensive with limited growth potential. Look at the DigQuad line of controllers.
