Quick heads up, you’ll want to swap out the Stock Champion Plugs with the NGK 9402 (SILZKGR8B8S-the pregapped version for the B58), it’s pretty common for people to Fowl the stock plugs after a tune and get misfire issues, (did it myself too😂,doesn’t happened every time but better safe than sorry)

They can be very reliable as long as you still treat the car well. Like any car, if you abuse it and work the engine too hard, it won't last long. But always let it get to operating temps and don't constantly redline it. You'll be good! My stock Scion tC didn't last but a year till I blew the engine. Because I abused it. My GTR has been tuned for almost 2 years and is still perfect.

I could be wrong, but I heard that if the A90 is not tuned, it doesn't matter what bolt ons you put on because the stock ECU will always attempt to run at its programmed power configurations. Like I said, I could be wrong so someone please correct me if I am.

Bros FOURR Speed if you apply the same modifications to the 2021 it should exceed the numbers in every way of the 2020. Well every number except fuel economy. The 2020 should always win in fuel economy but I don’t think anyone really cares about that.

Just out of curiosity, what's the point of having the super fast map and then the middle map? can you not daily drive on the fast map? is it tuned too aggressive that its bad for the car? just my thought would be that you could set it on the super low map for valet and otherwise would want to run the fast map all of the time?
I think it's just for preference. If you're racing and the tires are spinning too much in ht stop map, can tone it down bit for better traction and probably get a better time. Sometimes the high map spins the tires too much

I was looking at the new Supra vs 400Z to have SOHO modify to GTR or higher performance. In order to do that you would have to get into engine components such as the fuel injection system. The Supra (BMW engine) would be way more costly than the Z. (The little things that bug me about the Supra too, are the fake vents and wind noise. ) So, I'm going with the Z as long as the dealer doesn't mark it up too much. I've contacted both Charlotte area dealers, neither one was too helpful at this point. You'll have to let me know how you make out. I'm probably 6 months from purchasing.

I believe it was a $1,200 tune. Or $800. I can't remember. Full bolt ons. Downpipe, intake, charge pipe. No clue what timed runs would be. Never had this at the drag strip. Cant get full traction on the stock tires, so was never worth it. But it was a fast setup for sure!
So now you have to redo that C8 race. I'd love to see how a full bolt-on and dyno tuned A90 does against the C8. Probably would still lose from the dig, but from the roll you should now be able to win.

In the next 5 years I'm torn between upgrading my s2000 to an A90, a GT350, or 981 Boxter S. The only thing that lures me toward the others over the A90 is the lack of a manual. I wouldn't mind having a slower car as long as I can row my own gears.

Hey man love the content. I’ve been passively looking for a GTR to play with and you have honestly peaked my interest into the Supra. If you don’t mind sharing I’d love to know how much you’ve invested total dollars to get both your vehicles where they are and which you prefer. Sounds petty but I would love to mimic either one of your builds.
I'd say retail price of the Supra so far is around $3,500 for performance parts and tuning. GTR would be close to $10k. But you don't need a $5,500 exhaust on the GTR ;) So I'd say the GTR will cost twice as much to mod. But mine also has more parts then the Supra. Both cars have intakes, charge pipes, downpipes, exhaust, tunes. GTR has fuel injectors and intercooler core. Those alone are like $1,800 together.

With a good tuner you should hit similar peak numbers. The intake made my HP continue to be flat while the stock intake lets HP dip about 30 whp after peak. ECUteck is definitely recommended! And if SOHO isn't too far, go to them!
Technically no. The dealer would have to prove any of the tuning caused whatever issues would happen. But if something does fail with the engine/drivetrain, they would automatically tell me they won't cover it. But could always refresh it to stock and do some drive cycles to make it look like the batter just died

I'm thinking about adding something like that. An E blend could work. I have E85 like 10 miles away. A meth injection kit could also be a fun way to go. SOHO will be working on that kit next

Why would there be torque limitations in the factory software exactly? Especially with an excellent ZF transmission more than capable of higher torque. BTW, @10:00 tell your friend Matt that if he insists on wearing his seatbelt that way, he'll probably get several broken ribs in a crash from that belt. idk why it has so many limitations. But the engine is a very performance oriented engine. Significantly de-tuned for the cars its in. Stock trans can handle like 700 HP, so idk why its this limited. I'll tell Matt about the seatbelt ;)
@@jif4639 From what I've been seeing its around the 700 WTQ mark when the trans is over stressed. So even if I add a bigger turbo, TQ won't go too much higher. But HP will get over 600. All still manageable for the drivetrain

It can be used to allow for flex fuel tuning, so when you get a ethanol content kit (twisted tuning has one that's compatible with ECUTek) you wont have to play around with Ethanol mixes, you can just pour a few gallons in and it'll auto tune it to that level. BTW if you look in your Supra owners manual, it says that the car is perfectly safe to have up to 25% ethanol in the car.
That dyno probably reads a bit high. No tune, the car won't make any more power even with a downpipe. The stock tuning limits power and literally only makes stock power. 350 whp and 400 wtq is what these cars make with no tune
Bros FOURR Speed if you go on titanmotorsports website and read the downpipe description it’ll actually say +40 hp with no tune +100 with tune. Seemed to be pretty accurate with my dyno numbers
@@mkvkahn That just seems odd since the Supra ECU compensates to always create stock power. We dyno'd my car after the downpipe and it as 1 HP different. And only made 13 more TQ because he hit the gas at a lower RPM. Regardless, a tune is what will maximize power. The dyno shop probably messed with the outputs or something. I've learned a ton about the ECU on this car. And it won't add power with no tuning.
Bros FOURR Speed I don’t believe my dyno guy messed with anything since we were trying to see numbers before tune. I’m tuned on e50 now and will be hitting the same dyno next week. I’ll get back to you to see if the dyno actually reads high
Bros FOURR Speed yeah those Twin Scroll Turbos are no joke and Tuning has come along way. A local tuner, here in DFW, tuned his and final numbers are 497whp at 634wtq. However, in addition to Catless DP, k&N filters, he has Meth Injection and on E40 fuel. Something to look into 🤘😎

Wondering why you didn’t go with Botti? I mean your tuner looks like it did a great job based on those numbers alone. Botti seems to be the man when you want to run hard. Although I always go for the tuner that gets respectable number and cares about the safety of the engine and that it stays together in one piece. I learned to tune myself, and if you can learn a thing or two is priceless. Some of the so called tooners will turn off the knock sensors off just to make a name and a number at the expense of your engine. Please understand I’m not saying your tuner is that type of tuner. Just stating what’s out there.
I've got a Botti Ecutek tune on mine. Had JR Barrios use his map to start, then adjusted from there. I'll be going to SOHO tomorrow, see the difference. All I have is a CES catless DP.

I'm definitely going to run a C8 again. The Corvette will still win from a dig. The launch control is fantastic compared to the Supra. But on a roll, C8 won't have a change. I have 100 more torque. And all at a lower RPM.

Yup. I talked about that in the video. You can add all the parts you want on this car, and the ECU will still make the car pump out stock numbers.

Yeah these numbers are amazing! I’d assume the 2021 Supra will have higher top end after 5k. Torque probably will be a bit lower then this

I can't quite remember. Since the tuning isnt based off an actual PSI number like other cars. This ECU is all about % power. But I think its around 20

Just picked up a 2021 is your a90 a 2020 can you expect more power gains from the 2021 ? Considering stock it’s close to 50hp more then the 2020’s?
Yeah mine is a 2020. I'd think the 2021 will have a solid 40 more WHP. Torque will be very similar but come on later in the rpm

You should be in C8 territory now. On a road course you could run pretty close to one. Drag race not so much ...but it would be fun to see.

Do you have e85 available? E50 is the sweet spot with stock fuel system. Probably another 50+ hp.
The closest E85 station is like 10 miles. Not sure If I'll go with a blend or not. I like the convenience of 93
if i do end up getting one, once i tune it i'd probably ask for the pops and bangs to be removed
Unfortunately I don't think you can do that. I asked about it, and he said they can only make them more aggressive. Can't remove them in Sport mode.

It was around $800-$1200. I can't remember the breakdown since they also installed the downpipe and I got the OBD2 adapter with it all

Hey man love the content. I’ve been passively looking for a GTR to play with and you have honestly peaked my interest into the Supra. If you don’t mind sharing I’d love to know how much you’ve invested total dollars to get both your vehicles where they are and which you prefer. Sounds petty but I would love to mimic either one of your builds.
I'd say retail price of the Supra so far is around $3,500 for performance parts and tuning. GTR would be close to $10k. But you don't need a $5,500 exhaust on the GTR ;) So I'd say the GTR will cost twice as much to mod. But mine also has more parts then the Supra. Both cars have intakes, charge pipes, downpipes, exhaust, tunes. GTR has fuel injectors and intercooler core. Those alone are like $1,800 together.
Which fuel is this? 93 pump? Now we need a rematch with that Orange C8.

This would now easily take the c8 on a roll which is the benchmark. Just make sure your tires are good enough

Holy shit bro! That's some voodoo right there. I'm about to throw on a dp, cp, and a tune but stock exhaust remains. How much less in power do you think i'd be making? And besides your magic tune, could you recommend a tune/tuner to look at? You're the best!
With a good tuner you should hit similar peak numbers. The intake made my HP continue to be flat while the stock intake lets HP dip about 30 whp after peak. ECUteck is definitely recommended! And if SOHO isn't too far, go to them!

Does any of this void your warranty?
Technically no. The dealer would have to prove any of the tuning caused whatever issues would happen. But if something does fail with the engine/drivetrain, they would automatically tell me they won't cover it. But could always refresh it to stock and do some drive cycles to make it look like the batter just died

This car really squats. You can see the nose come up even when driving.
Yeah it squats a bit! The upgraded springs make it squat less then a car with OEM springs. But it's a ton of torque to handle

Not too sure! Maybe if someone ever was going to drive your car, like a valet. Or if you just need limited most for inclement weather.

You should definitely get an Ethanol map if you have it available near you. If not then add meth injection. You can pick up another 50-60whp.
I'm thinking about adding something like that. An E blend could work. I have E85 like 10 miles away. A meth injection kit could also be a fun way to go. SOHO will be working on that kit next

Why would there be torque limitations in the factory software exactly? Especially with an excellent ZF transmission more than capable of higher torque. BTW, @10:00 tell your friend Matt that if he insists on wearing his seatbelt that way, he'll probably get several broken ribs in a crash from that belt. Almost every new can has torque management. It’s there to protect the driveline and keep that warranty intact.

idk why it has so many limitations. But the engine is a very performance oriented engine. Significantly de-tuned for the cars its in. Stock trans can handle like 700 HP, so idk why its this limited. I'll tell Matt about the seatbelt ;)

@@jif4639 From what I've been seeing its around the 700 WTQ mark when the trans is over stressed. So even if I add a bigger turbo, TQ won't go too much higher. But HP will get over 600. All still manageable for the drivetrain

It can be used to allow for flex fuel tuning, so when you get a ethanol content kit (twisted tuning has one that's compatible with ECUTek) you wont have to play around with Ethanol mixes, you can just pour a few gallons in and it'll auto tune it to that level. BTW if you look in your Supra owners manual, it says that the car is perfectly safe to have up to 25% ethanol in the car.

i made 383 on 91 with just downpipe no tune. CA 85 degrees
That dyno probably reads a bit high. No tune, the car won't make any more power even with a downpipe. The stock tuning limits power and literally only makes stock power. 350 whp and 400 wtq is what these cars make with no tune
Bros FOURR Speed if you go on titanmotorsports website and read the downpipe description it’ll actually say +40 hp with no tune +100 with tune. Seemed to be pretty accurate with my dyno numbers
@@mkvkahn That just seems odd since the Supra ECU compensates to always create stock power. We dyno'd my car after the downpipe and it as 1 HP different. And only made 13 more TQ because he hit the gas at a lower RPM. Regardless, a tune is what will maximize power. The dyno shop probably messed with the outputs or something. I've learned a ton about the ECU on this car. And it won't add power with no tuning.
Bros FOURR Speed I don’t believe my dyno guy messed with anything since we were trying to see numbers before tune. I’m tuned on e50 now and will be hitting the same dyno next week. I’ll get back to you to see if the dyno actually reads high

Bros FOURR Speed yeah those Twin Scroll Turbos are no joke and Tuning has come along way. A local tuner, here in DFW, tuned his and final numbers are 497whp at 634wtq. However, in addition to Catless DP, k&N filters, he has Meth Injection and on E40 fuel. Something to look into 🤘😎

What numbers have you seen on 93? If i go with an E blend, the HP will get to over 500. But this is about max HP for 93

Wondering why you didn’t go with Botti? I mean your tuner looks like it did a great job based on those numbers alone. Botti seems to be the man when you want to run hard. Although I always go for the tuner that gets respectable number and cares about the safety of the engine and that it stays together in one piece. I learned to tune myself, and if you can learn a thing or two is priceless. Some of the so called tooners will turn off the knock sensors off just to make a name and a number at the expense of your engine.
Please understand I’m not saying your tuner is that type of tuner. Just stating what’s out there.

He lives close to SOHO and they're VERY awesome with ECUTEK.
I've got a Botti Ecutek tune on mine. Had JR Barrios use his map to start, then adjusted from there. I'll be going to SOHO tomorrow, see the difference.

I'm not really into a build up Honda Civic. I'd rather have a newer car thats nice inside and out like the Supra. Everyone has their preferences of course. What do you drive? And an AWD Civic?
Oh boy made lots of mods and a tune. Now you think you beat a stock c8 off the line. Good luck! Why don't you run it against it in real life. Like a track. Course you'll have to make all kinds of suspension mods while the C8 stays stock in order to Beat It
I'm definitely going to run a C8 again. The Corvette will still win from a dig. The launch control is fantastic compared to the Supra. But on a roll, C8 won't have a change. I have 100 more torque. And all at a lower RPM.
All while the C8 is still over 90k. The Supra will be faster at way less than that with mods
