Yes, for sure! It’s a magnificent church for a little town of 1000 people. While I had been to Burford several times before, this was the first time I discovered the stories of historical interest within the church walls.
We can understand why you bring friends from the States to Burford first. Such a lovely town! We enjoyed the stroll and seeing all the beautiful stone architecture. There just isn't any schools 450 years old in the US. The Colonial Colleges (most Ivy League) are only about 300 years old. Love the archways, bridges, and beautiful St John the Baptist Church. We'd love to visit the Cotswolds. You pick up at Heathrow? We'll buy the ice cream! Thanks so much for bringing us along, Magenta Otter.

The kids use to love running up or down the hill on the Burford High Street & petting the shiny pig! We had a Huffkins in Witney too! Never went in the church so it was lovely to finally see it from the inside!
We also have a Huffkins in Cheltenham. I need to finally try it out this summer, as I’ve never been in one either. I can’t believe I missed the shiny pig!

I love all the time spent in the church. It is so lovely and does have a very mini cathedral feel to it. I really enjoyed seeing all the historic monuments! It is so interesting how every little church in England is jam-packed with so much history and so many well known people are entombed there. Thanks for another lovely video of glorious Britain! : )

It is truly amazing (particularly for us Americans) to see the historical treasures and fascinating stories that every church seems to offer. My biggest surprise was the church at Hailes near the abbey ruin. It just looked like a random little building with no significance... but I was blown away! Not all fascinating places are owned by the National Trust and charge a big entrance fee ;-)
I'm so loving this series. All things being possible, we are planning a UK trip next spring. I can't wait to actually see these places and eat the ice cream myself. Well, my channel is a bit different than yours. My Cotswold videos are not getting as many views. But, I love the area so much it has just been a passion project to do this series. But I’m afraid some people are getting rather burnt out with yet another Cotswold video! 😂 where are you filming today? As for the research, that has been a necessary part of the process for me. But not really one I enjoy the most. I discovered that most people are history lovers and want to know the stories, so I feel obligated to research them 😉.

I think we forget how Britons don't realise that the UK is a lot older than the US, we take it for granted. For instance, my junior school in a small village was built in 1842, older than the city of Seattle where my sister lives!
Yes, it is so much older. And a school started 450 years ago is a REALLY old school! The area I live in was pretty much just open fields only 30 or 40 years ago.

Look up on the right hand side.That's where I grew up when I wasn't in Plano! You'll cross over an alley and then you'll see Tattersalls on your right kinda in a corner. If you get to where you push the button to stop traffic so you can cross the street to go to Harrods you've gone too far. Y'all like to vlog about places that American tourists don't normally go and in the middle of the most cosmopolitan city on Earth this is a 'hidden gem'. Hey either way your videos are great & I hope y'all never stop making them!!
Married in that church in 1957, you forgot to say that the executions on some of the levelers was carried out at the west door, you can see the musket ball marks in the stone.
TBH it is a bit sad that you can visit these beautiful towns filled with amazing architecture from over 200yrs ago. when today, buildings are being built that are so bland and are lucky to last 100yrs. I cant understand how we have let this happen. love the carvings and statues in the church, they are so majestic to look at. they really show how important a place that was, back in the day.
I think the same thing, Jean, is this what we call progress? We have tools that medieval stone masons couldn't have imagined having. Why can't we produce buildings that are at least as beautiful as the ones they created? And, then Historic England, lists 20th Century monstrosities like the Barbican and St Paul's Cathedral Choir School! It's inexplicable! Sorry for getting on my soapbox but this is something I feel very passionate about.

@@wencireone it's funny. When I'm reading the historical accounts of the construction of ancient buildings, they'll say what they cost and then give the inflation adjusted amount. Every time they do I think, wow, that's really not very much money for such an incredible edifice.
That's why barbers' shops traditional symbol in the UK is a white pole wrapped in red. Symbolises their previous bloody professions. "Bloody" not meant as a swear word here!
You are probably right. But the photo was taken when I was on my way to a Cyndi Lauper concert, and I just so happened to have been wearing magenta from head to toe, so it seemed appropriate to use in the video. 💕😂 I was a big Psychedelic Furs fan, as well as Echo and the Bunnymen and the Violent Femmes…. Back in the day!
It’s geographic location makes it a good first top when you’re driving from London or Heathrow. And while I do love it, there are other places in the Cotswolds I love you even more 💕

I do love Burford. I had my 50th and 60th birthday celebrations there! It's not a party town but a good spot for my friends and I to meet.

@@wencireone it's funny. When I'm reading the historical accounts of the construction of ancient buildings, they'll say what they cost and then give the inflation adjusted amount. Every time they do I think, wow, that's really not very much money for such an incredible edifice.
That's why barbers' shops traditional symbol in the UK is a white pole wrapped in red. Symbolises their previous bloody professions.

You are probably right. But the photo was taken when I was on my way to a Cyndi Lauper concert, and I just so happened to have been wearing magenta from head to toe, so it seemed appropriate to use in the video. 💕😂 I was a big Psychedelic Furs fan, as well as Echo and the Bunnymen and the Violent Femmes…. Back in the day!
