This was one of my favorite makeover shows. I loved Niecy Nash.
I loved this show. They truly helped people move forward in their lives. Every episode there is always an underlying reason for the clutter. But once they do some digging to find out why the people let go and start fresh physically and mentally.
I use to love this show! I agree, they need to bring it back.

What is the point of asking her to grow up and then giving her the most childish hideous green walls?? 😭 They could've done a nice soft mature pink or just something neutral and let her fill the room with her own pink accents. I can't believe that choice was from a professional designer. He must've been getting back at her for giving her mom sass because no way he thought it looked good. 😂

That would be getting repainted quick and in a hurry! These "designers" get a rouse out of messing with people.

The teenager is right , if her Mom isn't going to clean the house and keep the house clean than she can't really get mad at her daughter for not cleaning her bedroom and keeping it clean, as a parent you are the one who sets an example for your child or children
She needs to keep her mouth shut about not respecting her mom though. Even if she doesn't, she shouldn't be on TV embarrassing her mom like that.
Her mom could do better, but she could also be a lot worse. Obviously the girl is fed and clothed properly, and nothing is stopping HER from cleaning the house.
Mark is a terrible designer, that green in the girl's room is ugly as hell.... even painted the ceiling green, tacky! I don't blame her for not liking it. The pink was better especially for a girl's room. Most of Mark's designs on the houses he do is tacky and not worthy of him calling himself a designer, what a joke.
This was interior design trends back then. If you watch old episodes of Kitchen Nightmares, those makeovers are also pretty dated at this point.

This design did not age well but I still enjoyed the show back in the day! Great concept hope they bring back a more modern version of it .
I miss this show found it by luck. I used to binge watch this on a Saturday morning from 3 am thill 9 - 10 am then go off shopping for the day
I feel really bad for the daughter. Yes, she's being a brat, but she's been raised in an extremely cluttered environment by a mom who doesn't clean up, doesn't throw away, and doesn't parent.
It's no wonder the daughter acts the way she acts.
That green is atrocious. I’d have to repaint it maybe lighter shade of green pastel green. But everything looked really nice beyond that

Not a fan of the green like most on here but those were the colors and prints 20 years ago so the designer was on point for that time.

My mom is like this’ll in this episode. Except she has 4 kids but was a friend more than a mom to ONLY the youngest. No wonder the youngest got away with the most bad behavior
Why with the green? It’s one of my favorite colors but the girl clearly could have been graduated to a more sophisticated pink.

The Mom must’ve gone into a depression after her divorce and never recovered. So, sad because the Mom isn’t taking any responsibility for her actions. She’s the example!! 😢

That pale yellow was not colorful but washed out. The bedroom he gave the mom was like an upscale hotel. I didn't like Paige's green color, for sure.
37:25 This used to be one of my favorite shows growing up, but after watching this episode, I can’t help but feel a little bothered. They made so many accommodations for the mom, and then did the 17 year old girl so dirty with this horrible green-screen color for her bedroom! I’m sorry, but I think it’s quite cruel and unfair to take this girl who has clearly been through some trauma, about to graduate and says she will be commuting and living with her mom during her college years, and I couldn’t give her the one thing she wanted-a PINK ROOM! The whole episode this girl makes commentary about how much she loves pink and doesn’t care if it’s “juvenile,” because it’s her thing. And then at the end of the episode, they have the gall to criticize and rolled her eyes at her because she doesn’t like the color. They could’ve been good designers and created a collegiate bedroom with more ‘refined’ shades of pink.
Seriously, they gave her so much s#*$ but she was just doing what was modeled for her. She was more willing to work with them and they slapped her in the face.

When I tell my son to clean his room he can't call me hypocrite because my whole house is neat and tidy. This mum must lead by example. They both lazy.

Even if the mom is being hypocritical, it's not wrong to clean up. The girl should clean, because it's the right thing to do. Her mom shouldn't even have to TELL her to clean.
Matt Iseman was a medical doctor (internal medicine) but quit practicing bc his heart wasn’t in it. His father was a doctor as well.

That green room is....very bright, and it gave me a headache 😫 i couldn't imagine saying that i like a color and then they go on the opposite side of the color spectrum and go green 😩 also looking bad on these shows, i can see how fabricated reactions were lol.
The other thing that bothered me is they called them childish and immature 🫠 as if liking cute and kitchy things makes u less of an adult 😩 i want shows like this to come back and I'm here for it, but i would also like for a designer to sit down with the people and design what they want. And not what the designer thinks is best for show or whatever
Agreed. I don't understand why they DON'T show the plan to the family, at least get an ok on the wall colors. And kitsch DOESN'T mean immature. I like the show, but it could be so much better if the writing were more mature.

That green is too green! Too harsh for a girl who likes pink, and too much for such a small space...why couldn't she have a soft pink which would look mature as well as comforting? I can imagine how one would wake with a shudder if you open your eyes and that green is the first thing you see.
Well, maybe that smart mouth girl can get off her big behind and paint the room herself.
