As a chronic pain patient and someone who is in hospitals a lot, it’s so hard to be seen by doctors. Nurses are life savers. Was in hospital twice for possible Addisons crisis and the nurses were amazing.

I really like that you clarified at the end that you care about all your patients, it does show in your dedication, the fact that your picking up ICU shifts during a rheumatology residency and how exited you sound about good outcomes. HIPPA can be a cruel mistress at times but it does more than just protect privacy, patients have more going on than their conditions and if their name isnt on anything that protects them from abusive ex partners, ICE and medical bias by employers.

The Covid situation in our hospital has suddenly gotten a lot worse, almost like back in March again :/ glad you guys so far only had the suspected case! Thanks for sharing these cases, they're super interesting to learn about! I'm in my prereqs for nursing, and sometimes with anatomy the chapter will mention a certain condition and I'll remember you doing a video about it, and it helps to go back and hear the details of a real-life case.

We are in a similar boat. Our Covid positive numbers have increased while we are losing employees rapidly. The majority are CNA and RN 's, it's creating greater stress on those of us already working daily.
I'm a DNP and have been doing it over 20 years. I can honestly say nothing like this has been the worst year for my hospital. The umbrella company that runs the hospital is poorly run which created a ripple effect prior to Covid-19. Now we are seeing an increase in Influenza hospitalizations along with Covid. I'm exhausted and I feel for all healthcare workers. Hang in there. 💜

I m enjoying your videos... I was born 1950 so a while back..
So, I have a lot of life experience with illnesses. My entire family 1955 during the Polio epidemic was exposed to and we all contracted POLIO. My father age 32 and brother age 4 both paralyzed from the neck down and my sister age 2 Boston, Massachusetts was placed in an iron lung after being packed in ice with 107 fever.
My mother age 31 and myself age 5 at the time right before the Polio vaccine came out did not get the high fever so we both escaped paralysis. My mom and I both had
O blood. Dr Mike Hansen has a good utube channel following the Covid 19 pandemic 2020 which you may enjoy, anyway, he said O blood gives people more protection from Covid 19.
Anyway, I m trying not to contract Covid because I m still battling post polio syndrome ( the after effects of polio ) for 15 years now.
This brings me to Covid long haulers where Covid symptoms are
lingering on and on. Yes, this can happen from my Polio experience.
So, please stay safe ! Please consider wearing an N 95 mask which may protect you more.
      ps... you are AMAZING .

You look so happy to be starting your shift. I remember when my 3rd shifter husband used to look that way... after so many "waves" of Covid patients, he looks like a man going to his own execution and trying to be brave about it, lol.
Before the haters begin jumping on to say that he should just find a new job... folks, the ERs and ICUs throughout the nation would be staffed only by the ghosts of health care workers past if those with burnout didn't work there. Everyone who is left feels that regardless of how they feel, they're called to do what they're doing. Either that or all the other positions in the hospital are full of those who jumped out of the fire and are hoping they never have to go back in. My husband truly cares about his patients and he's amazing at what he does- if you ever get that sick, his is the face you want to see at your bedside. But many are the angels in scrubs who are working in the ER and ICUs...

How these videos make me wish I'd continued my medical training. I KNEW I wanted to be an R.N., but I had a suspicion I REALLY wanted to be a doctor. Family obligations got in the way, which is why I encouraged my kids not to let that happen to them -- to do what they WANTED to do before doing anything else. These videos are fantastic!

Hello from Toronto! I discovered your channel last month and binge watched almost of the "episodes". Honestly, it's been the best way for me to decompress after an exhausting day at work (I"m a teacher) and get ready for everything I have to do at night for my family and also for my course (I'm also a full-time grad student at the ripe age of 47). You make me so proud for being Canadian (after 17 years in Canada, this country is like home to me). Your kindness, generosity, incredible work ethic and enthusiasm, stamina and positivity are highly inspiring. Thank you for everything you do! Can't wait for more videos!
