I’ve got one that’s stock minus a hmf slip on it’s an absolute piece of shit and smokes like a freight train but I can say they are fairly strong like you said for their size.
Those are one of the best and most durable sport quads ever made. I had a 250x back in the 90s that was decently built with a high compression piston, Keihein 38mm carb, white bros cam, fmf pipe etc. I had 20" tires on the rear and that eliminated much of the tipsiness these machines have stock. That bike was a blast to ride, particularly in the woods. Can't count the number of objects I bounced the nerf bars off of😂
i so so believe this now 20 years ago yes,i grew up on Hondas but here lately ever honda i ride with has issues ,now with that said 300ex 400ex 300 trx 450 trx was some of the most reliable atvs ever made
Yea I grew up on the 3wheelers...I had the 70,110,200x,350x and had a few 250r 2stokes...I own a commercial pressure washing business and all my units have the gx390s in them...My Trx700xx has the big bore fuel injection...man the difference in throttle control and reliability is insane compared to all my other quads!
I have a 96 300ex and it's never been rebuilt and still runs strong yes they are a wheelie kings easy to throw around too that thing is very clean and I have a trail tech on mine it says it only goes about 38 that's not hitting the limiter but pretty close
I traded a pistol for one ($425) In the process of restoring it. Rebuilding carb, welding the plastic, new lights, new ignition, air box/carb hose, and handlebar cover. I’ll run her hard when done, and eventually buy an aftermarket body. I feel you, these were the shit when I was in HS. Gonna be a fun little project.
Looks just like my 04 with different stickers. It loves 2ñd to 3rd gear wheelies. If you want 4th shift it without the clutch and it will stay up half of 4th gear. I never use brakes.
I owned one. Actually the machine I paralyzed myself on. Went to a 450 after. The front shocks have only a 3/8 or 1/8 inch spot weld on the eye. After a few months I broke a shock. I put a stock 400ex (it was 05 so easier to get them not blown and worn out. Anyways you can put stock or after market 400ex front with either frame mods or a piece built by JB Racing. Worth the investment to allow your daughter to take the turns harder and be more stable.
