There are a few reasons why you would want to change the jetting. You added performance parts such a high flow exhaust, purchased a new carb, you take the machine to a much higher or lower altitude, or if you noticed you are running lean and back firing a lot. The carb it self does have adjustment screws and the needle can be adjusted but if you find you are maxing those out jetting is also your next step.
You might have a rev limiter problem. That isn't the easiest to work around but I have a video on how to test a bypass it. ua-cam.com/video/DIUktPnvGPw/v-deo.html
My 660 has stock jets .. question what is the left and right carb fuel air ratios ? Pilot is 22.5 Main L is 140 R is 145 Air L is 80 and R is 150 Needle clip is in the 3rd position All seals inside the carb is brand new ... bike idles perfect but dies when given gas .. full throttle quick blip dies and slowly trying to ease into it .. it dies also ... all vacuum lines are connected except for one that comes from the intake manifold .... I set the left carb to 3 out and the right to 2 out .. but it still isn't running right ...
I don't think your problem has to do with jets. Those would make you run lean and cause some serious power loss and backfiring but not dying. Watch my ideo on the rev limiter. ua-cam.com/video/DIUktPnvGPw/v-deo.html . That might help. Let me know if it doesn't. I will look up the carb specs i was using
After going over my repair log I ended up using this Main: Right 165 Left 160 Pilot: 23 Both needles were 3rd position Mixture screw: Right 3 turns out Left 3.25. Check the boot for any cracking or wear as well. I worked on one before that had a real bad habit of popping off the intake under full throttle. I ended up getting a new boot and clamps. Fixed the problem. Put a spark checker on when you are testing it as well.
You have to have that cap on the side of the carb or your going to have a huge vac leak there
And yes or parking brake switch
Oregon ? I just got an 2004 660
Yes. I am 20 min outside Portland
Medford area riders?
Those are not mikuni jets
Those hex drive jets are not for those carbs
What's the reason for jetting I have a grizzly as well

I don't think jetting is the issue it's the park brake switch
I bypassed the brake switch before jetting.
