The Mary El Tarot - The love of my life 🌹
I use this deck to have conversations with my soul about my path.
I feel that this deck is tapped into something very ancient and timeless, and everytime I connect with it it feels like I'm touching an energy outside of human time and place. Love the video!

Thank you for this video. I worked with this deck not a lot because I don’t connect to it so much . As you described and put some light on this; it’s very much informative with knowledge that is not my medicine. I love how through your words I receive clarity for myself cuz I couldn’t find words of my own as yours but when you express it by your words it is very suiting for me.
I love the idea to use it as oracle .I haven’t think about that . That’s a great idea!
Even though I don’t think I ever would want to learn all the knowledge in the guidebook , I wouldn’t want either to let go of this deck. There’s still something in this deck’s energy that is exanding my heart and I like it staying in my collection and from time to time use it , like a crystal, like a cluster crystal if that makes sense.

You are quickly becoming one of my favorite content creators for deck reviews. You present the information in a unique way that I really enjoy. I’m so glad you did this review because I am obsessed with this deck but I do shy away from working with it because I tend to read it like a RWS deck, which, as you pointed out, does not really work. It was helpful for me to hear you talk about Using it as a study deck. I really like that idea.
And finally, I have to compliment you on your description of the original hierophant card in this deck. You explained that so well in a way that I have not heard anyone explain it before. Thanks so much Ruby!

Love the video! Wasn't it Waite, though, who switched Strength and Justice? I have the same preference as you. I believe Crowley was following the standard numbering used in the TdM tradition, the Anonymous Tarot of Paris, and Minchiate decks.

Yes, Crowley went back to original Marseille way! I prefer it that way but by now I am used to both ways.

I was just saying a few hours ago.."Where's Ruby..we really need a video from Ruby" and then you delivered..☺☺ So lovely to watch this..
I've had a love affair with Tarot since I was really young.. and there are still certain decks that seem way over my head.. the Mary El is definitely one of those.. She is such a majestic soul..I love her but find her complicated.. This is great information Ruby..I really need to work with her every day.. one card at a time.. take more time to get to know her.. The Oracle idea that you mention, maybe what I will try this first. I will be studying this video some more with my decks..
Hope you have had a lovely festive holiday.. Looking forward to your next video Ruby.. Blessings.. ❤❤ ✨ 🌕🌕

It is awesome to be a Tarot nerd! I 100% relate to you and your thoughts on this deck I have 1st and 2nd version of this deck. They have been important to my Tarot journey and growth.

Before the Golden Dawn, Strength used to be 11 and Justice 8, in Marseille Tarots and early occult Tarots. Marie White refers to the French Occult tradition, as in Oswald Wirth and Papus, though for whatever reason, without naming them. She uses their Hebrew letter associations sometimes, but also relates the cards to the serifot of the kabbalistic tree of life. A true masterpiece of Tarot either way, and probably my most intimate deck.

Great video! I've been binge watching your channel since discovering it recently, you're excellent. I liked hearing your thoughts on some of these cards. I made a video of this deck on my channel a very long time ago, it was the first edition. I prefer the High Priestess in the second edition. I agree that working with it more like an oracle deck with one card pulls is probably best for beginners. I don't use the deck much myself but this video has definitely made me want to revisit it.

this is the 2nd deck i got & the first that i’ve ever used with regularity, since spring 2022. i’m ready for it to not be my daily deck anymore, but i love the education it afforded me (i’m looking for something pip-sh in a thoth style, or a modern marseille).
i agree about the christ-consciousness this deck resonates with, which does really appear in how Marie writes about the card, which can have energy 180° in the opposite direction of the energy that the card is historically known for.

Love this video but just fyi, Crowley didn't swap 8 and 11, Waite did to make tarot make more sense astrologically. 8 and 11 really can both portray both meanings though, 8 can also be seen as balance (8 is the same above and below) and 11 can be strenght that connects the whole tarot deck straght in the middle. Also it makes sense that Strenght comes after the Wheel and before the Hanged one too (and also after the Chariot and before the Hermit)
🙃 P.S. PAMELA EAKINS is life, she is AMAZING.🎉
