  • This is photos that we have found of various websites several years ago. Thanks to all those unknown people who collected them so we could show them to all friends of Rhodesia. Thanks also to all unknown people who owns some of the photos. We have not been able to thank you since we do not know where in the world you are these days.
Once there was a great nation called Rhodesia.
It proved that a few thousand men and women of good quality can create a civilisation. Rhodesia was great, but forced to die when USA and Britain decided to kill it.
Unfortunately it also showed that a few stupid politicians and governments can destroy a civilized nation.
Thanks for the music: John Edmond

Knowing what the political elite in my country Sweden did to crush the rightful regime in Rhodesia makes me feel ashamed, even if it was before i was born.

my mother only about two years ago told me, news to me, that when we were there, my dad overheard two men talking about govt becoming communistic in 1961-1962. He wanted to take us out of there and we left in 1964. He wasn't from there but NZ'er. I never got to know any of my relatives there.

I used to stop in for a shumba at the Christmas Pass Hotel when Len Catchpole owned it. Len was the former official hangman in N. Rhodesia before he came south ,he was one of a kind. R.I.P. Rhodesia.

I used to listen to an Amateur Ham who's call sign was ZE2JA on the 10 metre band (28mhz) On a wet and grey Sunday morning in England it was lovely listening to the beautiful description he would give of the weather and country. I always wanted to contact him but sadly by the time I obtained my radio licence Rhodesia was no more.

Lump in throat - We were right to stand against the ignorant. Pity it ended so badly. Liberals must be gratified with what they did to great people and country.

Ironically, many of the people who now love Rhodesia are evidently young liberals. They blame white South Africans for apartheid and insist that there was no segregation in Rhodesia. Indeed, they describe the country as a "multi-racial paradise."

Well, considering that in 1975 the average black Rhodesian was making five times what Black people in other nations of Africa were earning at the time and had access to running water, electricity, air conditioning, clean streets, fully stocked grocery stores a stable currency it clearly was a multi racial, paradise no matter what the ignorant liberals say
Keep in mind by the mid 70s there were black Rhodesian millionaires, and there were entire upper class neighborhoods of wealthy black Rhodesians, who decided early in life not to be a whiner and a complainer, but to realize that the white people were bringing civilization and progress and they decided to join and work hard alongside their white counterparts so yes, work pays off

'Gods own Country' totally destroyed by Mugabe, a black despot, Britain, America, the World Council of Churches and Communist Russia. These photographs bring back such wonderful memories of the best years of my life in the BSA Police and such wonderful black people who I often meet in South Africa and converse with them in limited Shona, and with out doubt they all believe that Mugabe will rot in hell.

Stop saying Britain and America were against Rhodesia. That’s not a true statement. The true statement would be the politicians were against Rhodesia. The people were behind Rhodesia
the people of America and the people of Britain supported what was happening in Rhodesia because it was lifting the black population out of the Stone Age into the space age in , four generations the truth is Jimmy Carter was the demon in America causing those problems. Henry Kissinger was the demon in America, causing those problems. It was not America.

Wonderful collection of photos, thanks so much. Couple of date problems though, the Pioneer column travelled through to Mashonaland in 1890. Matabele land was only added 3 years later, so the Bulawayo photos labelled 1890 are incorrectly dated.

It was actually the inernational community itself, except of course, Portugal and the racist south african government. Interestingly enough, Rhodesia had never enacted any policies regarding race or gender. This was a smear campaign against a former colony that though it unnecessary to remain under a foreign government that had no real power over it anyways. The majority of British people I've talked to have expressed remorse about this event.

Lol. I guess you must have had a black kid sitting next to you in Standard 2? You could google African Education Act, and perhaps remember the black kiddies were verboten in your classroom. There again you might google Land Apportionment Act. Good lord. The funniest thing is how revisionist you lot have become. Are you now embarrassed by your opinions?

@@nicolataylor9996 So what was the answer? When British and Boer Settlers arrived, there were very few Africans who lived in a tribal existence and hadn't even invented the wheel. Should the Rhodesians have integrated their schools with Africans who were so far behind they could only be discouraged? Let me remind you what the Rhodesians did for that country and for all the African Tribes living there.... Africans received education, had access to jobs, hospitals, etc. and they thrived. You need to stop this Marxist Race clap trap and look at reality...

As this vid is about Rhodesia, Harare should be labelled Salisbury. Also, not sure if lake Mac's spelling is correct. And I think it's Caribbea Bay, not Kariba bay (pic of hotel). Nonetheless, a lovely selection of photos.
