- This is photos that we have found of various websites several years ago. Thanks to all those unknown people who collected them so we could show them to all friends of Rhodesia. Thanks also to all unknown people who owns some of the photos. We have not been able to thank you since we do not know where in the world you are these days.
Once there was a great nation called Rhodesia.
It proved that a few thousand men and women of good quality can create a civilisation. Rhodesia was great, but forced to die when USA and Britain decided to kill it.
Unfortunately it also showed that a few stupid politicians and governments can destroy a civilized nation.
Thanks for the music: John Edmond

I was born in Bulawayo! Was proud to do my bit! I am a Rhodesian and always will be!
Knowing what the political elite in my country Sweden did to crush the rightful regime in Rhodesia makes me feel ashamed, even if it was before i was born.
Best wishes to all Rhodesians all over the world! A beautiful country torn down by communist terrorists. Cheers!
my mother only about two years ago told me, news to me, that when we were there, my dad overheard two men talking about govt becoming communistic in 1961-1962. He wanted to take us out of there and we left in 1964. He wasn't from there but NZ'er. I never got to know any of my relatives there.
I used to stop in for a shumba at the Christmas Pass Hotel when Len Catchpole owned it. Len was the former official hangman in N. Rhodesia before he came south ,he was one of a kind. R.I.P. Rhodesia.
I used to listen to an Amateur Ham who's call sign was ZE2JA on the 10 metre band (28mhz) On a wet and grey Sunday morning in England it was lovely listening to the beautiful description he would give of the weather and country. I always wanted to contact him but sadly by the time I obtained my radio licence Rhodesia was no more.
My father's call sign was ZE2JC
Lump in throat - We were right to stand against the ignorant. Pity it ended so badly. Liberals must be gratified with what they did to great people and country.
Ironically, many of the people who now love Rhodesia are evidently young liberals. They blame white South Africans for apartheid and insist that there was no segregation in Rhodesia. Indeed, they describe the country as a "multi-racial paradise."
@@glendodds3824 Paradise ? HuH , i wonder what a million dollar bill looks like ?
Well, considering that in 1975 the average black Rhodesian was making five times what Black people in other nations of Africa were earning at the time and had access to running water, electricity, air conditioning, clean streets, fully stocked grocery stores a stable currency it clearly was a multi racial, paradise no matter what the ignorant liberals say
Keep in mind by the mid 70s there were black Rhodesian millionaires, and there were entire upper class neighborhoods of wealthy black Rhodesians, who decided early in life not to be a whiner and a complainer, but to realize that the white people were bringing civilization and progress and they decided to join and work hard alongside their white counterparts so yes, work pays off
True brother !! my most valued possession is knowing that I was there !! - I had the privelege of having been with the finest in the world. Old as I now, nothing rattles my cage more than anyone calling the country by the Z word.
Exactly. It bothers me, too. I was born there, know it was beautiful and sane at least from 1961-1964 before I left w/ parents. I get so mad at what is happening there.
'Gods own Country' totally destroyed by Mugabe, a black despot, Britain, America, the World Council of Churches and Communist Russia. These photographs bring back such wonderful memories of the best years of my life in the BSA Police and such wonderful black people who I often meet in South Africa and converse with them in limited Shona, and with out doubt they all believe that Mugabe will rot in hell.
Gosh, in addition to Catholics and Communists are you sure you don't want to blame Kaffirs for knocking you off your post?
Stop saying Britain and America were against Rhodesia. That’s not a true statement. The true statement would be the politicians were against Rhodesia. The people were behind Rhodesia
the people of America and the people of Britain supported what was happening in Rhodesia because it was lifting the black population out of the Stone Age into the space age in , four generations the truth is Jimmy Carter was the demon in America causing those problems. Henry Kissinger was the demon in America, causing those problems. It was not America.

I FOUGHT IN RHODESIA during the war with RLI , it is the best think I did in my life.

Thank you for fighting for us.
Did you know any Lenegans?
From one RlI soldier to another God bless you.
Wonderful collection of photos, thanks so much. Couple of date problems though, the Pioneer column travelled through to Mashonaland in 1890. Matabele land was only added 3 years later, so the Bulawayo photos labelled 1890 are incorrectly dated.
Well organised country it was! On 2:10 "Chingola Primary School" was and is still in Zambia (then northern rhodesia)
What a wonderful collage of brilliant memories! Thanks for posting this! I am from Bulawayo so allow me to correct a typo? It's Matopos and not Mapotos! Rhodesia will always be my home! God bless and best wishes.
Portugal remained an ally of the Rhodesian government until the collapse of its colony in west (or east?) Africa. Alas, it was a nice spot on the earth.
This is about Rhodesia, not Zimbabwe and as such the name Salisbury should still stand here instead of Harare (which was a township at the time).
Yes, Harare was a black township on the outskirts of Salisbury. I loved Salisbury; Harare was not part of my world.
When referring to where I was born, I always say Rhodesia.
Great photos and songs!!! It will always be Rhodesia to me!!!
My most valued possession is my Rhodesia birth certificate.
Where is the world now? Who is coming save this country's people from it current government?
thank you, what a wonderful video...brought back lots of memories
It was a steep dowhill run
from Rhodesia to the hellhole of Zimbabwe!
It was actually the inernational community itself, except of course, Portugal and the racist south african government. Interestingly enough, Rhodesia had never enacted any policies regarding race or gender. This was a smear campaign against a former colony that though it unnecessary to remain under a foreign government that had no real power over it anyways. The majority of British people I've talked to have expressed remorse about this event.
Lol. I guess you must have had a black kid sitting next to you in Standard 2? You could google African Education Act, and perhaps remember the black kiddies were verboten in your classroom. There again you might google Land Apportionment Act. Good lord. The funniest thing is how revisionist you lot have become. Are you now embarrassed by your opinions?
Nicola, I don't agree with your politics but your observation that some Rhodesians love revisionist history is correct. Rhodesia was a proud country but nowadays the subject is descending into farce.
@@nicolataylor9996 So what was the answer? When British and Boer Settlers arrived, there were very few Africans who lived in a tribal existence and hadn't even invented the wheel. Should the Rhodesians have integrated their schools with Africans who were so far behind they could only be discouraged? Let me remind you what the Rhodesians did for that country and for all the African Tribes living there.... Africans received education, had access to jobs, hospitals, etc. and they thrived. You need to stop this Marxist Race clap trap and look at reality...
Nothing to feel remorseful about. It was colonised and everyone was the better for it.

My mother was born in Bulawayo. She said one time when they were coming out of church, a baboon bit my aunt in the thigh. I was born in Rhodesia...
As this vid is about Rhodesia, Harare should be labelled Salisbury. Also, not sure if lake Mac's spelling is correct. And I think it's Caribbea Bay, not Kariba bay (pic of hotel). Nonetheless, a lovely selection of photos.
Thornhill!!! ☺
It always will be an honour to have played for the Eagle's first XV!
The good old days fab pics
Yes I was born in Bulawayo and served in Rhodesian as sapper laying ap mines on border I was choppered out with regular who stood on ap mine He lost his leg below the knee and I had 3 eye operations United we stood but the communist took over as the queen wanted it to be
Interesting - many of these photos are mine and certainly used without any permission from me. Some actually are relatives who have never even been to Rhodesia. I wonder how access to my personal photos was obtained?Yes they are stored on the cloud but not shared. Some I have posted yes but not the personal family ones.
It’s a nice memory but I think the author could have at least asked.
Can you put a timestamp of where your photos are used? like 3:12 or 1:12 (for example)
Dates are out, pioneer column 1890 and Matabele land only added in 1893
How is that song called in the middle of the video about this small boy?
A White man takes a pile of bricks and turns it into a city! A Black man takes a city and turns it into a pile of bricks! RHODESIA: Gone but not forgotten! We were living in a paradise and didn't know it!
so sad looking at all the faces of those who gave there lives for what ??? a good percentage of the faces died fighting for UDI
what happend to this great country? looks extremely nice would have love to live there
tank5617 you are white right? Because if u are black you would not have enjoyed Rhodesia
@We C You two things can be true at once both rhodesia and what we see now are undesirable outcomes and 3 yrs later i hv to add that the present is now increasingly worse 😂😂😂😂
ma sei Rhodesiano o Svedese?
Fueron los blancos los que hicieron de Rhodesia una gran nacion.
Respect Rhodesia
White people built such a beautiful civilization❤
Zimbabwe is the real name not rhodesia now we free independent north rhodesia is Zambia a free from the British people. For ever.
You guys reckoned without Robert Mugabe.
Who was defeated in every way... What led to Rhodesia's end was when South Africa withdrew support which totally isolated them, and Mugabe got in through the Lancaster Agreement (not by military victory).
Que lindo es el colonialismo jaja
De eso nada. Se trata del establecimiento de una sociedad civilizada y su destrucción por el comunismo internacional tal como está pasando ahora en Europa.
fifteen million blacks in Zimbabwe now and only forty thousands whites. Three hundred and seventy five blacks to every white. What went wrong, Smithy?
And it's a crappy place to live.
Definitely not 40000 whites left
