We also are a CM family and used both The Ordinary and FLL. I have the old combo book that has both 1st and 2nd grade in it. I just asked my 14 year old the sounds of the vowels and he grinned and said, (in a beat box rap voice) "A is the first vowel we will say, /a/ is the sort vowel sound of A..." 😂😂😂 And the poems from FLL are so good. When they forget to use manners, I'll whisper "Keys." And immediately they'll say Please, Thank you, etc!❤
I’m so grateful we both have daughters going into first grade because I am gleaning so much from you; thank you for sharing what you do! We started the teaching reading book this past year and it was a miss at first but now we are back in it after taking a little detour. She just needed work hearing and saying words spoken super super slowly for a long time. The your toddler can read UA-cam channel guy was also beyond helpful!
