    I love your highlighter idea! My 2nd grader gets really burned out on writing so I do a lot of her narration writing. Tracing with highlighter sounds fun and better than just myself writing. Thanks!

      Oh ya, I feel ya. For whatever reason the writing portion is always tricky! Good luck!

    Thanks for this thorough review. Do you know how long this curriculum took on average everyday?

      You're welcome! I want to say it took anywhere from 15-35 mins. Sometimes we split the days if he wanted to talk more about the book or was taking a long time to do the writing portion.

    Hi Kari. I love this resource. I love the setup, and how it's scripted and best of all it's literature based. Thank you for sharing with us! 💗💕☺️

    I’m tempted to order! I’m looking for a literature based curriculum.
    What do you use for reading?

      My favorite reading program has been All About Reading! I am a big fan of the Orton-Gillingham method, which they use. Lots of hand on learning and a very logical approach.

    I just ordered. I am fairly child led in our learning path, but this seems affordable and a way to introduce some slight structure that my boy may enjoy. In 1st grade how long are the books? Is it broken down into days of the week after the whole book is read? Or does it take the book in sections?

      The books are all picture books, so they take 10 minutes or less to read and so you just read the whole thing in one sitting. You end up reading the book twice during the week, but the second time is optional I believe.

    This was extremely helpful! Thank you for showing all the aspects of the curriculum! Will you plan to continue to use this curriculum in the future?

      That's a good question! As of right now my two older kids (10 and 7) are attending an in person charter school, so I'm not doing homeschool with them this year. I will likely do homeschool with them for middle school, so I don't know what I will pick at that time. We only did the first half of grade 1, so I would have stuck with it and done the second half this year if I homeschooled that child.

    Are you going to use the next level?

    • @karifacer
      @karifacer  8 місяців тому

      We are not, not because we don’t like it though! That child is attending an in person charter school this year, so I’m not teaching him this year. And one thing I forgot to mention in the video is that I probably would have held off doing a grammar curriculum a little longer, but it was required by our charter school which is why we picked it up. That being said, I would use it again if required because we did enjoy it.

      My son is attending an in person charter school this year, but if I were homeschooling him I would have continued it and done the second half of the curriculum. I don't know about later levels though.

    You lost me at 400 pages 😆 there's no way I'd have my child do that much workbook work. I do appreciate the overview though, the books they chose look great maybe just as read a louds.

      Haha! You have to remember that's including the table of contents, the title pages for each book, optional workbook pages, and dictionary pages in the back (also optional). Each week has about 4 pages to do, so it's really very doable. But yes, it does look daunting if you just look at the workbook! The read alouds were all enjoyable though!
