I LOVE Modern Cottage!! it’s by far one of my very favorite interior design an architectural styles. Let me know if you love it and what element is your favorite. I can’t wait to see what y’all think about this one!! 🤎🤎
This is quickly becoming my favorite style. I love mixing old and new and shopping and mixing vintage with new. I love the way you brake everything down. I'm glad you will be expanding and talking more about it on your channel. You truly are an inspiration
How sweet, thank you!!! Yes, I love this style, I think it’s just so cozy and welcoming, but I love the pop of modern elements here and there to keep things fresh. Thanks for watching!
In general I love cottage style but I also embrace high end items incorporating them together is exactly what I want to do. By watching this video it’s steers mean confidently in the way I need to go
Hello Ashley and Delta, precious ginger cat. I once lived in a Dutch Colonial Revival home in Cuyahoga County Ohio. The house next door was a clapboard design of a Tudor Revival. Both homes built about 1917. Oh, how I loved my years in my Martha Stewart house, as I referred to it. Thank you for sharing your content. Always look forward to it.
This video is spot on!!! I really believe we see in this style a timeless amalgamation of everything good and perfectly blended --the best of the trends of the last decade or two, while leaving all extremes behind. History will confirm this “great awakening,” reintroduction of timeless design style, craftsmanship interest, prefect use of color, pattern, min/max showcasing of personal items, and on and on! What’s not to love?!☺️
I'm so excited. I feel like they finally gave my style a name. Ha! Modern cottage is everything I've always loved come together in a pretty little package.
I love this style! We lived in London, England for 3 years and even though I enjoyed the messy overflowing gardens I would love the aspect of refining that a bit. We will be buying a new build soon and I am going to try to attain this inside and out. I will incorporate the wide plank wood floors, pale beige cabinets, some light burgundy and gray/blue colors with a bit of gray/green also and use traditional furniture sofas with modern side tables. I enjoy the idea of charming overflowing pots and gardens with ivy and climbing hydrangeas with the modern clean lines of boxwood hedges.
I absolutely love modern cottage style. I love the warm and muted colors, honed stones, separated and intimate rooms, and overall layered feel. Our house has open concept in the main living areas and it has been challenging working at home. The sounds travel everywhere
I LOVE this style and it’s the style of my home. This is probably my favorite video of yours. And thank you for introducing us to your sweet kitty. She’s precious! 🥰
Love! I immediately feel relaxed when I see this style. I think my favorite element is mixing the modern with traditional pieces. I'm not much of a gardener but I can make something happen with cottage-y containers and abundant seasonal flowers. Cheers!
Oh I agree, Modern Cottage is so relaxing and welcoming. And yes! I love overflowing seasonal containers, such a great way to add a little cottage charm to your outdoor spaces❤️
Definitely a Modern Cottage fan! Just love your channel Ashley! Thank you for going into so much detail with every program you produce. I'm drinking up every word and picture that you share with us. It is so very informative and has definitely helped to elevate & evolve my décor attempts in my home. Fantastic work, so inspiring, thank you always! Regards from Cape Town, South Africa
Thank you so much, I am so glad you enjoyed and appreciate your kind words ❤ It truly amazes me that my videos are able to reach people all across the globe!
Sending a virual hug. This is absolutely 💯 my style. Didn't have s name for it. Love cottage and more orderly modern. Cotrage core seemed too granny like for my style. Don't get me wrong I am a granny but much cooler! 😊 Can't wait to see what your remodel design reveals!
You are so sweet! I am so glad this video resonated with you ❤ I still love cottage core as well, but modern cottage is just so fun! Thank you for watching (:
Love the arches and wall paneling and the outside architecture! It’s not my style but do love it! I love all the different styles and so interesting to see the different ones!🥰😍🥰
Very nice video Ashley! Thanks for explaining everything concerning Modern Cottage. It was nice to meet Delta! I have a kitty who was adopted from the Humane Society as well!♥️
Would love a cottage garden! But in Arizona, we have heat, rock and cactus. So I can’t wait to follow along on your cottage renovation. And Delta is a very cute patio addition.
I’m looking forward to you sharing the new project! Love your sleepy sidekick 💕🐾 Your garden design is “cottage” , what design style would you say is your home interior?
Thank you, Delta is the best 😻 our home interiors are what I call Artful Curation. A mix of my furniture and lighting collection with vintage+antique treasures added in. The interior architecture is transitional, a great backdrop for all my pieces 🥰
This is exactly what my new home is, Modern Cottage….my only issue is the windows in the dining room and living room are low and right next to one another with barely 3” in between, I really wanted a gold rod close to the ceiling with white linen drapes on either side / and in between the window…..but I’m afraid it will be overwhelming. ( ceiling height is 9ft) ……do you think I could do a roman shade and hung above the window a bit to make the wall look better? …..it doesn’t seem finished without drapes….sigh….what do I do? My living room has me baffled as well , a center fireplace, 5” on each side , a window on the left, and the right of it……whatever I choose will have to be the same as the dining area because you see both rooms when you enter the mini-open living space.( white french kitchen, and dark wood floors)
Why spend a fortune when you can achieve the same level of sophistication with our affordable home accessories? Enjoy the best of both worlds - style and savings!
This is more or less my style-like a blend of modern cottage + cottagecore (I like referring to it as Postmodern English Country)! I prefer a tad more brighter colors, print mixing, and eclecticism than some of these photos…but still elevated/updated without the overt kitschiness.
I like English Cottage style. I’m not so interested in the “modern” in Modern Cottage style. I like more color and lean more traditional. I do, however, like the use of organic materials in the Modern Cottage style.
This is interesting, just know that “French cottage” doesn’t exist. Cottage is English and you will never find any French person talking about their “cottage”, it is typically English, in England, a “cottage” used to have a specific function. In France, it’s simply called “une maison” or “une maison de campagne”. I can tell you, I am French and I have lived most of my life in France, even if I am in California now. I see a lot of American people talking about French cottage, this is a mistake, there is no French cottage. Cottage is purely an English word and concept.
If a cottage is furnished in mostly French furniture, the we would refer to it as French cottage style. Since it's in the US it's not French anyway. Just in the style of. Also I had a raised cottage like you see in Louisiana. The architecture you see there is referred to as French such as French colonial style etc. Some of it is styled after some island where their architecture was styled after French but of course not really French but their take on it but changed to fit their climate. My house was in Alabama where the climate is also hot and humid with lots of flying insects. It has four large rooms, each having a door opening to the outside with no halls and high ceilings. If all four doors were opened the air coming through the house was quite brisk which is the reason for this style. If you Google this style it is called French colonial I think. Also, all cottages are not small houses as we think of them but huge mansions. Wealthy people had second homes they called cottages but were actually large mansions. So it is a very loosely used term.
@@hildacollier2638 I was just saying that cottages don’t exist in France. It is typically English. It is supposed to be about the architecture and purpose of the building. If you decorate with French furniture, then it is house or a mansion or whatever you want which has been decorated with French furniture. By supposing that the furniture is really French. Because I see here so many so called French pieces of furniture which are everything except French.
@@YayaBolender I know some antique store owners who go to France and England several times a year to buy furniture for their stores. Since it came from France would you consider it French? Would that be good enough for you? I know what you're trying to to say. You're trying to say that we stupid Americans don't know what we're talking about. You do have cottages in France, you just don't call them cottages. A cottage just means a small house so I hope you're not trying to tell me France doesn't have small houses. Maybe you would call it a petite or small house and not a cottage but I think that is being very picky. (I do have a Bachelor of Art Degree in Interior Design so I do recognize different styles of furniture including French )
@@hildacollier2638 Though I am French, I live in California and I never meant that Americans were stupid, if I did, I wouldn’t be living here. You are putting words in my mouth which were never there. I was talking from a technical point of view. Originally cottages were built for simple people who were working for richer families, or farmers, peasants in UK. They used to be very humble habitations for rather poor people. Nowadays we don’t consider cottages that way anymore. In France, nothing is called “cottage” because it is typically British. You can say: ferme, petite maison de campagne, masure, there are many words which could be close to cottage but “cottage” is very typical of United Kingdom. For example, in France, they don’t make “cottage cheese”, it’s typically British originally, even if now we can find it everywhere. I was just saying that as a French woman, when I hear “French Cottage”, it disturbs me a little because I know that it doesn’t exist. In France, we make a difference between what is typically British and what is typically French. I was just bringing an information that you can only have if you are French or living in France. I never said that Americans are stupid, I don’t think that at all. Stupid people exist everywhere, it’s not a US specialty. There are many things that I don’t know about American home decor even if I’ve been here since 18 years. It doesn’t mean that I am stupid, it just means that I haven’t learned it all. Nobody can know everything, and it’s never too late to learn something new. If we start fighting over this, allow me to say that it is a little ridiculous.
I know about the origins of the word cottage etc. but new terms are always being invented to describe ways of decorating such as cottage core, granny chic, shabby chic etc. Believe me these were not terms we saw when I took interior design. But I don't see a reason to be technical and criticize them. I did think your comment came off as "I'm French and you don't know what you're talking about about". I'm not French but my father lived in France for several years so I did hear a few things from him. I also know French people eat horses and we don't. I see articles on the Internet all the time on what other countries think about Americans. It's never flattering. I've never seen one on what we think about the people of those same countries. I have known a few French people and yes they did have a superior attitude. Sorry if I misinterpreted your comment but that is how it sounded to me.
