There's just something about Classic style that I adore! From timeless color palettes and statement lighting to classic art pieces and natural materials, I LOVE it all!! Let me know what your favorite Classic Design tip is from today's video! I can't wait to hear!❤
My husband and I have been purchasing art work from every place we've visited. It might be something small like an embossed tin Christmas ornament that reminds us of our travels to New Mexico, or pewter napkin rings that remind us of a trip to Kentucky. We have also purchased pottery, paintings, rugs, photographs, etc. When these art pieces are put up in our home, they just feel right, and the memories are so nice.
That is such a beautiful way to decorate! It's a great way to add personality to your space and I love how collected artwork from travels sparks fond memories of the places we’ve been and the people we’ve met! I just bought a beautiful painting last week when we were in San Miguel, from the young artist that painted it! I’ll cherish that piece forever 🥰🥰 your collection sounds so lovely! I’m sure your home is filled with beautiful treasures and fond memories!
The idea of three color levels was my favorite suggestion. It explained why rooms may feel “ off” without understanding why. I look forward to your Sunday videos . Thank you for sharing your talent.
Ashley! Your videos are so amazing! I really appreciate the idea of QUALITY items. My late husband always believed in that when it came to furnishings. Over the years I’ve reupholstered my gorgeous sofa chaise and chairs. I’m so happy with all of them. Now I want to add new colors and modernize my new place. Thank you ❤
I agree. So many people buy cheaply manufactured, mass produced wall art that is priced far beyond its worth. For the same money, you can buy far more interesting original art from local artists. Real art brings so much soul and presence to a home.
I love the way you mix styles and it always works. You anchor a room with tried and true colors and classic and modern pieces. You are so lovely and it shows in everything you do. I keep trying but it never looks like anything you do. Lol. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. 😊
Oh I LOVE that one too!!! it just always amazes me the difference those natural materials can make in a room. Honestly, even just a small woven tray or a pretty marble sculpture can add so much interest!!
My favorite part about this video was the mention of using vintage or antique pieces if you can’t afford something brand new. I for one am an avid antique shopper and I have noticed that a lot of the antiques none of the younger generation want so they are dirt cheap. The other thing is you mentioning the colors that we choose need to be a light medium and dark in the same color range that really helps me going forward because I am building a very Small house and getting ready to pick out paint colors. So because it is small, I am looking for maybe mixing the lighter and the darker together
I love those two and couldn’t agree more!!! I went antique shopping last weekend when we were visiting my son at college and I found some of the most beautifully crafted pieces at such great prices! I’m considering buying an armoire I found, I’ve been thinking about it every day since I saw it!☺️thanks for watching and good luck with the new build, how fun!!❤️
@@ashleychilders What I’ve learned is, if your heart strings become plucked when seeing a piece, put your money down on it immediately because as soon as you walk out the door, someone else is looking at it and could take it away. That’s happened to me a number of times.
@@ashleychildersit needs to come home if you're still thinking about it! I love vintage and antique pieces. They are so well made. We turned an early 1900s dresser into a vanity for our powder room. Made in Michigan, the elegantly turned legs are beautiful! ❤ thank you for another lovely video.
While I love all the tips and homes shown, it would be nice to see normal smaller homes. Most people don't live in a home worth several million. Also, I live in a town that doesn't even have a store to buy quality furniture, maybe a video on where to even find this type of furniture and what to look for besides dove tails. Beautiful video
I love your videos! The section on the 3 color levels was my favorite. I’d love to see a video on how to choose which walls to paint different colors, along with other options like wallpaper, panels, etc. That’s always been confusing for me, but now it’s something I’m paying more attention to. I used to just paint and hang a picture or mirror on the wall. Of all the homes you’ve shown, your decor is definitely my favorite-I love your style! Thanks for sharing all this helpful info online. Your videos are so calming and have become my go-to Sunday inspiration. You’re an angel-thanks again!
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! We’re working on a comprehensive Paint/ Wall coverings video! There’s so much to share! I hope to have it on the channel in the next few months🥰
I wish I had seen this video many years ago. I have wasted soooo much time and money on cheap, too brightly colored, trendy home decor that I tired of quickly or didn't hold up or went out of style in a short time. At least it is nice to know that frantically watching every home decor shop and tour video on the internet to try to get the "right" look is not necessary and is in fact leading you down the wrong rabbit trails to make your home look peaceful, classic, coherent and to last for years to come. Thank you for this tutorial.
I’ve watched many home interior design videos and this one was one of my favorites. Very clear instruction, beautiful examples and a relaxing tone set it apart from the myriad of voices in the field. Nice job!
It is nice to watch surveys of exotic architecture, landscapes and architectural details. It even nicer to see examples of things that are do-able ! Thanks !
Awe, you are too sweet!! 😊 my hair is naturally curly, but I swear by CurlSmith hair products!! They’re a game-changer!! I use the Shine Gel and the Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and love them! ❤️❤️
I feel that statement lighting is something that can easily become dated or overpowering, if not very carefully chosen. What’s more, lighting can be really expensive, so you want something that will have longevity. Perhaps you could do a video dedicated to this topic.
I truly connected with this video content. The tip about using a 3 color pallet for the home is a great tip for me. I'm getting ready to re-fresh my master bath. I'm a little scared that what I choose may not look nice or go out of style. I'm trying to stick with what designers on here are saying. Thank you for sharing!
If you’re not changing out your countertops, flooring or cabinet colors, use those to guide your wall paint choice. Try out several you like and look at them in daylight and in the evening. It’s so important that you love how it looks at every time of day❤️ I know it will turn out fabulous!
I just started subscribing your channel as I enjoy your colours and designs. Btw, your hair is so lively. I’m not sure if it’s natural curl but I do have natural curls too. May I know what you use and do to make it look so pretty 🙏
Thanks so much for subscribing! It’s naturally curly and I use a product called CurlSmith. I get it at Ulta. They have lots of different types of products for curly hair, but I specifically use the shine gel, and the essential moisture conditioner. I love them! ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us, I look forward to your videos and have learned so much. I am interested in using corbels, the dated ones and even some new ones. Can you give some tips on different ways to use corbels. Thank you so much for this channel, so glad I found it !!!
I love using corbels as wall brackets to display small accessories on if they’relarge enough, also as decorative elements in the corners of case openings….They can add a really beautiful architectural feature there. We’ve also used them as support brackets on range hoods, and I’ve even seen very large ones as legs on a demilune table!! 🤎
Can you please tell me what type of table is at the 17-second mark in the Introduction of your video? I was gifted the same bottom portion of the table years ago and have no idea what it is! It accordions out. Thank you!!
One video a week is not enough...I love seeing your own home and watching you decorate...however, you never seem to redecorate your home. I watch you to see you in your own home but I do get tips when offered like this video today.
New furniture is poorly and cheaply made. They've got nothing on antiques. I prefer antiques 💯, they become conversational pieces, these are truly timeless pieces. The new stuff is 🤮, some you have to put then together.... like for real... Ikea ruined it for this generation. They don't know beauty, quality , or taste.

@@ashleychilders YES! We'd love a hair tutorial :)
I’ll second that!!

I recognized several of Heidi Callier's interiors in this video. I'm also a huge fan of hers. The way she mixes prints and colors is unparalleled.
Thank you for encouraging people to buy real art from real artists!!
I adore original art!!! So much heart and soul goes into creating it, I’m so happy you enjoyed the video!

So good to hear you praise the classic and timeless pieces! I’m tired of other channels saying to just get rid of them…
I love antiques and unique pieces with timeless appeal! Always have, always will ☺️ thanks for watching!
Love the way you blend old with new to keep things fresh but timeless! Just subscribed and can’t wait to see more!!❤
Classic and timeless is priceless!!!

I love using classic, older furniture. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I always look forward to your videos.

Not to mention vintage and antique mixed with more new modern items and pieces is definitely in right now and looks amazing.

Now to find good pieces when I live in a very small town with limited local resources.
I always try to get some antique shopping in when I travel, and some of my friends have gotten some great pieces on FB marketplace, I’ve been amazed!!

Three color levels throughout the house is a favorite I employ. I use Feng Shui to guide those choices.
The art pieces in this Chanel are beautiful. I captured one idea to elevate a frame by painting white with a gold trim 💖💖💖
Yay!!! I love hearing that, sounds beautiful! Thanks for watching❤️
Ashley, you always have the best content
Loved these classic design tips! And loved all the spaces you presented. Great design for livable spaces.

The lamps on the console behind you are absolutely gorgeous! Can you say where they are found? Thank you!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it❤️
Love your bench seat sofa! Can you please share links. Thanks ❤
Hi may I know where you got the sofa you are sitting on? Thanks. Love your videos.
I designed it! It’s part of my furniture collection. It’s called the Taylor sofa, I named it after my sweet sister🥰
My favourite recommendation was to use of wall sconce as a source of lighting for a classy look rather than substituting it with other ways
Dam she mad cute!!! ❤😍
