I can't even put into words what Paul and Dave gave to me over the decades. They were my TV friends. Well there I just did it.

@@waynej2608 Unfortunately I came in after Bud had passed. I mostly saw Dave in the later years and still loved him, probably because all the stuff (top 10s, viewer mail, etc) was new to me.
I absolutely *adored* Biff Henderson though.

And soon they’ll bring their tiger show to Las Vegas.
My dog actually ran up to the guy that was attacked by the tiger. ( Roy of Seigfried and Roy) He was in his chair with a male caregiver next to him sitting on the beach. My dog loved everybody.

I interned for Letterman Show in 2001. I worked as Paul's intern. Such a sweet man. I remember one night after a show Dave and Paul saw each other outside the studio and Dave goes "Have a great night, Paul." And Paul said "You too, Dave." Just two guys finishing their day at the office.

God, I miss these two. What a blessing to have spent so many years from my childhood, through college, and into adulthood with their humor as a constant companion. They kept the darkness of the world away on many nights. Love you Dave and Paul and THANK YOU!

This is a real treat for Gen-Xers who used to sneak stay up late to watch these guys on school nights. ❤

Yes! I'm gen x too, high school class of '88! These two guys were the wit that gave me great laughs during college and my 20s.

They were and are truly the best, and I miss these guys. Today's shows bore me to death.
Yeah, laughs are pretty few and far between today. I don't really look forward to many of them, but hope I eventually laugh. Seth got so he can, at times, be absolutely hilarious since Covid, and the other dudes are sometimes funny, but it's not as often that I'll remember some bit and laugh and laugh. A lot of it's pretty try-hard.

The banter between Paul and Dave still has the same "make you wonder how much, if any of it scripted" quality of days of yore.
Paul is so funny and has natural timing and I think he riffs off Dave. I remember laughing reading that Paul was the first guy to accidentally say the F word on SNL. I'd sit and watch them discussing random b.s. or reading instruction manuals and find it funny.
I really do hope Dave does a My Next Guest Needs No Introduction that has Taylor Swift as his guest! That would be incredible.😊

I’m 42, and I love these guys. They were a staple in our house while I was a kid until the day they retired from Letterman. I bawled during that last episode’s Foos performance, and I don’t usually get sappy like that lol. I would love to see Paul and Dave do more things again. They are just an amazing fit. I always have a smile on my face or get a good old belly laugh while watching them together. They’re two incredible human beings for sure.
Please do some special online projects so we can watch you together again! A podcast, some other UA-cam series - anything would be great! Here’s a fun idea: You can go to the old theater and crash being that Late Night TV has been grounded by the strikes. Just show up to the Ed Sullivan Theater and be like, “We’re baaaaaaa’aaaaack!” It would be hilarious if you launched a special limited run or one time special bootleg late night show outside of your former studio while the strike is still active! I’m a NYer, and I’d totally LOVE to run into you guys outside The Ed Sullivan Theater while you’re filming a bootleg Late Night show for Netflix or UA-cam àla all the shady Time Square guys selling “Gvcci” and bootleg movies. Dave can sit on a picnic blanket with guests, have Paul can get setup like an illegal busker, and when the show credits roll, your roll up your blankets with all your knockoff writers before the cops show up! 🤣🤣🤣 (If you take my idea, please DM me on Instagram/Twitter at MashaT22 so I can have a front row sidewalk seat to the shenanigans with a spot for my service dog, a medical aide, and perhaps a guest or two - I want nothing else in return beyond getting to watch this reunion firsthand to witness good old fun and laughs!)

You could watch/listen to our show along the commute, in order to savor the anticipation. We are told our show slows down time to a near halt, and it’s used to punish children with boredom.

Paul is great and all, but it's just not the same show without Barbara and her sidekick Mary.
I think what Dave meant is, "It's just as good as the actual Barbara Gaines Show."

Paul still knows all of the tunes, writers, and artists: everything from “Do Wah Ditty” to “Driver’s Licence”.
He is a genius to geniuses.
Paul wrote a book about his experiences in the music biz. Haven't read it yet, but I've heard it's an interesting read.

Just like everyone is saying, what a joy to see those two together. In all the years of the show I never heard anything but the greatest they had respect for each other, and of course the entertainment was magical.

I think CBS realizes it was a mistake to force Dave into early retirement. He clearly has many comedy years left in him and could conceivably go on and on.
