just becuase everyone seems to be concerned, there is an original version sung in both Japanese and English. The video version, however is only in English. Although they are trying to infiltrate the American market- they won't lose they're roots, please keep supporting them no matter where their music goes!
No, I only supported them because I liked their style, now they are shit ,and I won`t support them because they abandoned their uniqueness and originality for dollars and murican hoes.

To be honest, I wouldn't be bothered about this song at all if it were done by other band. The song is generic af and the only thing that makes it work is to attach One OK Rock name on to it. Greatly disappointing. If you can read Japanese, a lot of their Japanese fans are disappointed too. And it's not about them singing in English or Japanese, it's more about the music being produced just become so simple and generic, like any other American angst bands.

LOL you sound a bit immature. Am I not allowed to criticise their change in music and I have to love all their new releases whether they are good or not so I will be able to called myself 'a fan'?
I've followed them for years and they always hold a special place in my heart. No matter how much I hate their recent songs, I still can't forget the positive feelings, encouragement and nostalgia their old songs and lyrics brought to me.
They are selling better now, it's good for them. I'm happy that they are more well-known too. I never ask for them to remain 'the same', bands need to change and move on. Just that, this isn't how I expect it to be.
It's really funny. I mean, I'm Japanese and have listened to ONE OK ROCK for a long time and I don't care which language they sing in. I do not understand why some people are so annoyed they started singing in English. Most people in Japan who are actually Japanese don't care but foreigners seem to be so bothered by it? I don't understand it haha.
I don't mind, but i always love hearing the Japanese lyrics every once in a while because it's their roots, you know?

ambitionsの中でダントツ一番多く聴いててすごく好きな曲。シャウトとかスクリームがあるわけじゃないのにかっこいい。あとtakaが珍しく、好きな曲だと言ってて好み被ってて嬉しい。

Can you guys stop with the negative comments? This song is really nice and has a really powerful meaning too like their old ones. Yeah they are changing their own style but thats because they want to expand their music. "Taking off" even has it's own english/japanese version, so we don't have to rage about this? 若さ故の才能ってのを彼は一番に音楽性に注いでるって思った。
勿論最近は海外にいる事が多くて、多少は日本を捨ててるなんて思ってる人もいるとは思うけど、そんな事無くて、自分達の音楽と海外の音楽の良さをちゃんと外に出て学んできて、それから日本で僕達ファンに良いものを見せるために頑張ってるって考えたら余計に応援したくなった

普通、アメリカのバンドは何をテーマに歌っているか分かる。愛だったり、世の中狂ってるぜ～とか。ワンオクの歌詞は英語でありながら、邦楽のように何をテーマにしている分からない、聞き手に解釈を委ねるような曲が多い。とても東洋的で、それがアジアで受け入れらている理由だと思う。アジアと欧米のロックの格好良さが絶妙に混じりあっているのだろう。日本だからこそ生まれたバンドだと思う。彼らの音楽がどこに辿り着くのかとても楽しみにしています。

I do hope their international success. Taka's vocal is one of the greatests and their songs and stage presence are so good. And what's magical about oor is they make ppl who hadn't listened to rock like oor and realize rock is for them. I thought oor would become very popular rather quickly.
But... that my expectation's been shrinking this several months. It's my personal thoughts but they've been failing to give good impression to ppl and I have kind of doubt about their associations of all directions. I think they are nice, talented and hardworking musicians but aren't very skillful about other things especially in international scenes. I think that's not problem if they ask for advises and support from right people and concentrate on their quality music. But I started to feel that things may not go well that quickly.
I still hope their success. If they're struggling for things, I hope they overcome. And of course, I'm worrying about their stressful states from language, cultural matters and homesickness a lot.
I think they are amazing no matter what I actually kicked someone's ass a few days ago for talking shit about taka like that person was racist so I beat them up to shut the hell up. And I cried listening to taka's cover of Adele hello he did better then her. I think his voice had more feeling then Adele. And this video taking off was way better then I thought it would be. But I do like videos like this. And I do believe oor will make it big it just takes time because patients well come.

今のワンオク凄いと思う。昔の方が良かったってコメントも頷けるんだけど、やっぱり確実に今の方が凄い。昔は全力全開で音楽にぶつかってってた感じなんだけど、今は全身全霊でぶつかってるように思う。全力を尽くして、死力を尽くしているっていうスタンスとかコンセプトは変わってないんだけど、何か余裕が見えるんだよね。俺はまだこの程度じゃねえぞっていう感じの。いつかその隠してきた何かが表舞台に出てきた時に、きっとワンオクはもっと凄いバンドになるんじゃないかなと思ってます。色んな世界を体験して、経験して、進化したOneOkRockを見せて下さい！

I've been an OOR fan since late 2012. And yes I do miss their old sound that defined them in Nyche Syndrome, Zankyo Reference, Zeitakubyo etc... BUT I'm so proud that they're out there breaking through the western market. Dear old school OOR fans, are you guys annoyed at OOR for being successful or are you just bitter at the new fans who know nothing but their recent singles? Regardless old and new school fans, remember that OOR has one of the best songwriting capabilities in the scene, always puts on a spectacular live show and will remain to give it their best now and always. Sincerely, an OOR fan who wants peace.
im a bit loss that they arent bad ass like when they are under a-sketch label.. but it is what it is.. artist change thier sound changes.. so gonna adapt

For me, the problem is not that they're changing. After all, every single album of theirs is quite different. I just have a problem with how their sound is changing. It's mostly a matter of personal preference. Their stuff from Jinsei × Boku = onward is generally good, but I see lots of problems. For example, most of the songs are overproduced. Specifically, there are lots of vocal effects, including autotune, and the other instruments feel robotic because of how touched up they often feel. There are also times when their songwriting feels generic. I feel like they should be themselves and let the instruments be properly heard, and then they should evolve their songwriting in different ways. It's okay if they're successful worldwide and if this is working for them, but I personally would like to see them take a different approach.

I saw them open for Issues, and even though they only played stuff from 35xxxv, the songs actually sounded much better live because they were more raw.
I've seen Taka up close last week (he was 1 meter away from me). He is so much more handsome in person than in most of his MVs. I don't know what they do to him in the MVs, but he is 10 times more handsome in person and extremely charming. Extremely!

Taking offってたくさんアレンジがあって多分出回ってる音源それぞれ違うんじゃないかな。これ久しぶりに見たけどCDと全然アレンジ違ってびっくりした。

Over and over again, I get amazed on how Taka's English improves. His voice is so clear, I love it! On the other hand, I kinda wish they would stick with both English and Japaneses. I can't understand it, but it's their native language, so there is some value to it. However, I know they can't use Japanese if they want to make it in the USA, sadly :/.
On the musical side, I give this an A+!! It has just the right amount of kick in it! I love the clear sound!

The thing you guys are missing here is that ONE OK ROCK has been experimenting their sounds since their debut album titled "ONE OK ROCK' in 2006. You are a fan of a certain album not the band. If the true ONE OK ROCK's "genre" was, if we define it by their roots - should be their debut album "ONE OK ROCK", because that's how they started. Listening to that album, you can clearly see how the band was influenced by LINKIN PARK's sounds. It featured Toru rapping, and even in their first studio album and single in 2007 titled "Yume Yume" also featured Toru rapping. And you could go and search on the internet, and listen to those songs, then tell me if those records sounds the same as "Jinsei x Boku =".

I find it funny how many people are saying they became "ONE OK POP" because this is still rock. A different sort of rock from a lot of their old stuff, but this still isn't pop. It's not even pop-rock. I think OOR is still doing really great things - I wasn't so sure how I felt about a few songs from their last album, but I think they're just really experimenting with their style. Trying new things, evolving as a band (which most of the great musicians do in time). It's a part of growing in your music. I am personally really excited for this new album and to see where they go in the future!

this is the first song i've ever heard from this band and it's awesome. i'm not sure what people mean by their old sound in all these comments but i like this so i don't really care.
Try listening to their old song and watch MV's like The Beginning, Clock strikes, Re:make, Liar, Deeper deeper, Nothing Helps, No Scared, Mighty Long Fall etc. You may found out why those people reacted that way.

The band's goal is to be known worldwide, so this is just them staying true to their goal, so I can't really say they sold out
all bands evolve over time. if people want a band that puts out the same single a million times with the same sound, what's the point of them putting out any new music at all? i took a listen to the tracks people recommended in these replies and this isn't that different from that style. the 'soul' of their music seems to have been kept in tact. people should be more open minded and shouldn't fear change just because they're taking on a new music market. at the end of the day, they're a great band with a unique style that's remained the same and that is easy to recognize, and that should be especially clear to their core fanbase.

ONE OK ROCKが目指しているのは海外で通用するバンドなわけで今までの演奏は目標に向かうあくまで通過点の景色だから戻るもクソもない。
ONE OK ROCKが駆け上がっていくどこの景色が好きかは個人の自由だけれども昔の作品が好きだから昔みたいに演奏しろは少し違うと思う。
例えるなら小さい頃は可愛かったのに最近大きくなって可愛くない。だから可愛い頃に戻ってほしいな。って親戚に言われるようなウザさに似てるのではないかと。
でも、遠い存在になって寂しい気持ちはとても分かります。

I recommend going through their albums from the very beginning from Zeitakubyō. Their music has changed over the years I feel their earlier albums (Niche Syndrome, Zankyo Reference and Jinsei x Boku were their peak albums) had a charm not reflected in their newer works. A simple google search should be suffice. Speaking as a fan of 5 years.

After hearing the lyrics a few times, I get the impression that OOR is feeling the weight of their own dream. Whether it's the pressure from themselves, from the fans or from the producers. But I think they do feel a little bit struggle, impatient and concerned.
But even though they don't know what future awaits for them, they still have decided their path and will stick to it (whether it's right or wrong, I won't debate here). They would rather fall hard after they have made all their best effort, than hesitate.
I know, their goal, or their way of music may not align with many of us anymore, but seeing from their perspective, I still have to appreciate their fighting spirit.
I will see how the rest of the album goes to have a better idea of the music they are making right now. Really hope there will be some hard rock songs, which simply suit their style more.

Yes, I feel the same! Well, I don't know much about politics surrounding them, but I believe they have been trying very hard to explore what they dream about.... being recognized by the world (or not just being recognized...maybe further). I really hope that they will achieve it with their own loving music style. Anyway, I think it's inevitable for them to go thru all those, many thoughts, feeling good or bad, casted to them from all over the world, it's because the world is just like that, not always like their home-ground in Japan. It's their own "Decision" to go for such a hardcore world and I'm sure they are well aware of.
sheila_loves_OOR I don't know what exactly happens behind the scenes but I believe not everything is in their hands now. They made a record deal with a big label and there will be more or less some control over their music, because it will be all about business and what's the most profitable way for the label. In exchange they will get help with promotion and distribution, which accelerates their dream of getting heard. I'm not sure to what degree their music has been dictated, but after all, this is what they chose. I respect their decision but I truly hope that they could protect their creativity and become a greater band in terms of music quality, not just because of more popularity.
Yutella I also feel a bit fear about things may be going on behind the scenes as you said.. If I remember correctly, almost no Japanese musician has been successful in the international market, show business wise, and in this sense, there is no successful footmark which they can learn from. I'm sure they are aiming at the first ever to get it and now kind of trying to find the best way. I really hope they will find it sooner with their own music style. They may have some try and error situations beforehand, though....

To be honest, in my opinion there is nothing wrong with it to try something new especially if you are a band which exist for a long time. Of course, their old songs will be legendary and their new album isn't going to top anything they did in the past. But is this a reason to be so negative?
