Such a bittersweet story. That's a guy who obviously has such an intense passion for what he's doing, but sadly no one really cared. But with so much enthusiasm, he kept goind and kept putting a lot of detail, and most importantly *love* into his map(s). And that's what art is all about. And thanks to Papa Philip, he's now getting the attention he always deserved. He's one of billions who will get that privilege, and he should count himself lucky indeed! Though, I disagree with some of Philip's suggestions. I love the hidden detailed area, since it's a small easter egg that only a select few people will ever see. It doesn't do anything except look nice, but it's a reward for paying attention. And the lighting looks fine, it looks like the map is cast in twilight. An orange sky would ruin the complementary contrast of the blue sky with the orange lights, and full daylight makes it way too bright. It's a passion project, and honestly only the creator knows best what to do with it. Criticism is still important, but it's up to the creator what should and shouldn't be changed.
Turns out Kubader is actually a really lovely person. he added me today because he liked my wallpaper engine stuff. Had a great talk about Philip, CS2 and his own CS maps.

This limitation regarding entities not casting shadows has plagued Valve's engines since GoldSrc/Half-Life 1 times. The issue is that entities aren't considered a part of the solid geometry of the level. For example, trying to cover a hole between the level and the "void" will still cause a leak as the entity isn't a part of the hull. As such, entities don't contribute to the VIS or RAD/radiosity stages either, and lightmaps aren't applied on entities. I think it was even worse in GoldSrc though. Entity walls (for example crushable walls by trigger) stood out like a sore thumb. The whole engine design of the source engine is really showing its age.
